I rewatched the masterpiece that's is ESB tonight, two things I noticed. Vader and Luke reach out to each other in the same way Kylo and Rey do but that was by Snokes design in TLJ according to him. So that probably goes to show how powerful Luke really was to be able to communicate with Vader like that. Also Lukes robot hand has the artificial skin in ESB but in the new movies it's an actual robotic hand like Anakins They did not reach out in the same way right? Kylo and Rey could see/touch each other. Luke just has the regular force connection force users seem to have. Not sure, I've seen people online say it's the same. Luke does seem to randomly look at something when Vader starts talking to him.

That said, I don't think anyone other than the Skywalkers have done that. As for the hand thing, I'm guessing it got reduced to its basic, metal skeleton when Ben exploded the hut. Maybe, right after there's a shot with Luke in front of the temple with the robot hand. I think he just got rid of the artificial stuff after ROTJ when he saw Vader robotic arm after he chopped it off as a reminder or something

This was released last February but still interesting, in the Thrawn book which was released after that point (I read if myself as well), Thrawn talks about numerous threats both known and unknown that lurk in the unknown regions/ beyond the galaxy. One of his goals for joining the empire was to help defend his people when the time came

This was released last February but still interesting, in the Thrawn book which was released after that point (I read if myself as well), Thrawn talks about numerous threats both known and unknown that lurk in the unknown regions/ beyond the galaxy. One of his goals for joining the empire was to help defend his people when the time came I thought about this myself after seeing TLJ a second time. It's pretty much all hypothetical, but it would be very cool. So Snoke is a type of powerful Force user from the unknown regions. The Empire is aware of him, particularly Sidious. Right before ANH, Thrawn goes out to investigate the threat, which makes some sense, since Chiss is located way out there too, and I believe in the Thrawn novel, it says he joined the Empire to protect his people (haven't read the book yet, but I think that's the general idea). So Thrawn is the special unit of the Empire that goes to investigate, and they eventually find Snoke. However, by this point, the Second Death Star has already been destroyed. The Empire's remnants are retreating to the unknown regions, and the Battle of Jakku occurs because that planet is in the path. The New Republic finds the Empire at Jakku though and basically obliterates them. From that point, Thrawn now has to rebuild the Empire after it's completely shattered, but this occurs mostly in the unknown regions and with the aid of Snoke. But then maybe Snoke kills Thrawn at some point because Thrawn is too influential for his liking or Thrawn just goes back to his homeworld. Regardless, this kind of stuff could go on for like 6-26 ABY. It could be fleshed out a lot more, but I just think utilizing Thrawn and Snoke like that would be really cool. Also, I think it's confirmed that Hux and some others went to the unknown regions for a while before the events of TFA (probably for Starkiller Base construction).

Well the Chiss do not believe in preemptive military strikes but Thrawn knew or several threats that he felt needed to be dealt with and since his methods went against regulation he was exiled from the Ascendency and eventually meets up with the Empire, he also met Anakin at some point which is interesting. Thrawn joins the empire willingly with a promise to the Emperor in person to enhance his knowledge of the unknown regions which Palpatine takes an immediate interest to. But we know from separate novels that Palpatine sent a super star destroyer, I think the Eclispe on an expedition deep into the Unknown regions and it did not return during Palpatines life time, so many speculate that Thrawn was on that expedition due to his knowledge.

Yeah, the Eclipse is what I was referencing above. I hope that Rebels hints at that happening instead of killing Thrawn off in the show. TLJ still leaves a lot of this open, but I'm not sure if it's relevant enough to be featured or even hinted at in IX. It's probably more appropriate for anthologies or the next TV show to elaborate about this.

I don't think they will kill Thrawn off, I think it would be too much of a major victory for the Rebels to have before Scariff since Thrawn is an extremely valuable asset to the Empire. In Fact I don't even think Thrawn will be the major villain in the last episodes, I think it will be Vader

Just got back from my second viewing... things I noticed...
- Kid at the very end is force sensitive, he grabs the broom from like 2 feet away, so I think he's going to be a Jedi trainee in the next one
- Lukes death makes a lot more sense to me now, when Kylo first sees Rey he says "You are not doing this, the effort alone would kill you". For Luke he had to obviously use an immense amount of effort to project himself for that long and that focused, so I guess his body just couldn't take the toll, maybe if he didn't cut himself from the force for so long he would have survived?
- I think Leia did have allies and I'm on the fan theory now that her "potential" allies are the Chiss Ascendency. The Chiss are a very cautious people that believe strongly in defense but only attack if provoked, they do not believe in preemptive strikes. Thrawn knew of several entities lurking in the unknown regions, while not confirmed it seems to suggest that one of these entities could have been Snoke. Thrawn tried to ensure the safety of his people by allying with Palpatine. Thrawn sought security while Palpatine sought knowledge of the unknown regions. I'm going to assume Thrawn is probably dead at this point and even if he wasn't with Palpatine out of the picture the Chiss no longer have a possible security blanket, they likely see the First Order as a threat but perhaps do not believe the Resistance strong enough to beat them and decide not to come to their aid, there's also the fact that the First Order hasn't provoked them yet (I assume) and it would go against tradition to attack first. While a lot of this is speculation, the Chiss are a faction that has a fairly strong military and could very well be a wildcard, they should definitely be at least on the same level as the former Republic but I would think them even stronger. The Chiss are also located in the unknown regions same as the First Order and thus with them so close by, it probably raises some alarms.

I rewatched Return of the Jedi tonight, tbh Kylo Ren's mind reading ability doesn't seem too far off from what Vader does to Luke at the end of ROTJ when he reads his mind to find out Luke has a sister. Though Kylo seems to fail when using that ability against force users. Also something I should have pointed out last night when I went back to TLJ, but Luke doesn't have the artificial skin when he confronts Ben Solo in the hut, so Stars burning theory doesn't seem to be accurate I'm guessing he just removed the artificial stuff after his fight with Vader, he immediately looks at his own hand after chopping Vaders off and seeing the mechanical one.

Anyways within the last 2 months I rewatched/ watched TFA, Rouge One, ANH, TLJ, ESB, ROTJ in that order. Guess I should rewatch the prequels again but they have 0 relation of anything to point out with the new movies I think.
Though I'm pretty sure TLJ did remix the theme from the end of "Sacrifice" at the end of the Yoda scene

Rumours of the novelization leaking are pointing to Luke having had a wife and possible implications that Ben really does have the hots for Rey.
It's as if Johnson observed my mind and crafted a Star Wars story that would work entirely against what I would enjoy.

The special effects already seem outdated...
Also, this dialogue is worse than the dialogue of the Prequels.

Rian Johnson's writing style would find itself right at home in a fourth rate, 80s Saturday morning toy commercial cartoon. Doesn't help with Adam being directed to act like he's freaking Dr Eggman. And you're right. The effects are pretty unimpressive, the slow-mo seems to cheapen things further and the whole thing feels empty and unfulfilling. Mark Hamill deserved so much better than this...

Now they have gone too far! It is time to hit Russia with the most extreme sanctions the world has ever seen. This behavior is unacceptable! To be honest, I don't think he is claiming Russia influenced anything. He just says that Russian bots spammed that Hux should live. Though I would not be surprised if Johnson gets his plot ideas from Twitter.

The idea that this guy used freaking fanfiction (and bad fanfiction at that) to even so much as partially influence his film makes me more disbelieving this guy actually got his career to take off.

I mean I am glad they realized those scenes were stupid in the end... but did they really only realize that when they were almost finished?
