It's been pushed back to December 15, 2017. I guess it isn't that bad, plus that makes it only a year after Rogue One, but it's still disappointing because I was looking forward to the May release (not to mention it would have coincided with Star Wars' 40th anniversary). The main reason is apparently because they want to replicate the box office success of The Force Awakens, which also obviously released in December. I think I also heard that they're doing some rewrites for the script, so they might have wanted a bit more time. If this all leads to a better movie that's more successful, then I'm all for it, but it still sucks to wait an extra 7 months.

Now it's gotta compete with Avatar 2. I'm sure this will top that, but still. A spring release coinciding with the 40th anniversary still would've been just as successful I think (and pretty cool). Obviously the script needs revisions, so I hope this means Ep. VIII turns out to be very good.

Yeah, there's no way Avatar 2 will be out in December 2017. I'm expecting it in December 2018. And even if it did come out in December, Star Wars would dominate it.

It's stinks we have to wait a lot longer, but at least I have another Star Wars film around my birthday And it's no surprise Avatar 2's being shoved back, but honestly I've never been expecting it to release. It's been delayed so many times now, it wouldn't be unlikely by now that it's cancelled. Besides, Cameron's kind of wasting his time on a sequel that never made much room for it in the original.

So who do you all think Laura Dern is playing (she was announced a couple days ago)? I'm going to go with the popular theory that she's Luke's wife. As for Benicio del Toro, I've guessed ever since he was first rumored several months ago that he'd be playing a Knight of Ren. The other new actress I think will be a new love interest for Finn.

They could really go any way with her since I think she's a pretty new actress (sort of like Daisy Ridley before TFA). If Laura Dern is not Luke's wife/Rey's mother, then I'd guess that she's playing a New Republic leader. But I'm still going to stick with Luke's wife.

I'd say those theories are within reason to be likely. I mean, Del Toro's been talking more than once about playing a villain for crying out loud Still no peep of Billy Dee Williams though

Billy Dee Williams just confirmed he's not in Episode XIII... why?! I really don't understand why they haven't put him in TFA or in this... he's old enough as it is and if they wait longer than they'll never be able to get Lando into the new trilogy. I guess we just have to hope he's in Episode IX now.

Or did he join the Rebellion idk.. He could've died either way though maybe they could mention his death instead.

I feel an offscreen death wouldn't do him much justice. I think him going back to Bespin and doing his own thing would be neat, especially if the First Order made a deal with Lando (or his successor maybe and Lando's stuck there or something). Of course, this probably won't happen if he isn't in Episode VIII.

The fact that Lando's still not in this raises my worries about this film. I've been getting this horrible feeling that TFA was just a one time decent offering, while the rest will be Disney barely wanting to try anything new with the franchise, leading it to simply jog in place. I'd love to be proven wrong, I really, really do, but I'm not certain any of these future films are going to satisfy me or other fans.

I watched Mark Hamill before one of the panels, he was on stage just talking and I'm not sure I really listened to him much lately but I was surprised at how young his voice sounds... I mean his voice sounds younger now then it did when he played Luke in the OT... It does not sound like wise old Jedi mentor at all , I guess he will use his voice acting skills to change that I'd imagine. I mean after all many consider him to be the best joker ever lol... Or he could go full Darth Bane...

So apparently one of the novels seems to have revealed Snoke is younger than Palpatine and actually was kind of like his apprentice... That sucks... I already gave up on him being Plagueis, but I at least expected him to be older than Palpatine, because then he would appear as a greater threat than Palpatine...

Snoke's identity hasn't been revealed anywhere and probably won't be until Episode XIII. The newest novel (Life Debt) shows this mysterious fleet admiral post Battle of Endor who's called Gallius Rax. Apparently Palpatine sort of raised him from his youth and Rax wants to avenge his death. Nothing states that he's Snoke; it's all just fan speculation (but it is still a possibility). Nothing's been confirmed for certain though.

But the novel also said that Palpatine suspected there was something important on Jakku... which makes me think that Snoke's dug up from there or something before or after the Battle of Jakku.

Kinda weird... Maybe after Maul but before Dooku But I don't think they had to connect him like that not everything has to be connected... Sometimes it's cool and like suspenseful when things piece together but star wars isn't good at that...

How would Snoke be Palpatine's apprentice? Probably not direct apparentice, in the EU Palpatine taught both Mas Amenda and that other weird looking lady next to him the arts of the dark side. I know the woman isn't canon in that regard but Mas Amenda may still be idk. Would probably be something like that.

Ok so I was thinking about episode 8 and how it's pretty different from the other Star Wars movies..
All the other movies have years in between eachother, even the OT are like a year apart but I'm wondering how Episode 8 is going to pull that off...
It seems like it's set up to have Rey and Luke meet off the start but timeline wise that wouldn't really work because it doesn't give much time for the First Order to recover or Kylo to also heal and train.
So I guess they will jump in like months after episode 7 ended and maybe have a flashback to Luke and Rey's meeting or something. Still this movie will probably be the shortest gap of any of the main films.
