I think the idea of BB8 going undercover would be neat and adventurous for the film. Maybe the black BB9 is going to be a whole seprate design for The First Order. More than likely though him and Finn will work together somehow secretly undercover on a mission. I hope we learn snokes' identity in this film as well. I would hate to have to wait another two years to finally learn his history. From what was said at Star Wars Celebration though I might just have to maybe. It was said the film wont revolve around Snoke but that doesn't mean that we won't get an answer, but we'll see. Six months to showtime!

Do you guys also think they're planning on releasing a LEGO game for Episode 8?

Do you guys also think they're planning on releasing a LEGO game for Episode 8? Almost certainly, but I don't really consider the Lego games to be apart of the new EA Star Wars games. So far in my opinion they only released Battlefront and I guess SWTOR since that continues to get updated but EA has had publishing rights for SWTOR since 2010.

Has potential to be true, I definitely think Thrawn influenced the First Order. After Tarkin he was the Emperors chosen and Palpatine had always respected him so it would make sense he was apart of this contingency with his knowledge.
It would also make sense as to why they choose to make him a focus on Rebels, I know DF loves the old EU but fighting rebellions is not exactly Thrawns EU form. He was commander of the expeditionary fleet, expanding the borders of the Empire, acquiring resources and making first contact with unknown civilizations.
In an outside possibility... Thrawn could actually be Snoke.

Although I doubt Snoke is a thing from the past and that he's a whole new character, this seems plausible. I know the Plagueis theory is widely popular but this is beleivable. Especially the scars and the connection to Vader.

Now that I think of it, why would Vader say, "Tell your sister I'm sorry" if in the event it was Plagueis' spirit in Vader at the end. The concept is cool but being real. You think this one is lol, ha try the one on Mace Windu.

In the new Thrawn novel, Thrawn talks about outside Galactic Threats, multiple entities though. Perhaps Snoke is one of these threats/ entities.
In the old EU Thrawns purpose was to strengthen the Galaxy to fight the Vong invasion, he knew about the threat decades before they appeared and he knew his people would be hopeless to stop it on their own. They could be taking a similar line of thought with Snoke now, Thrawn might know about him decades before we see him in TFA.
Though it's curious how the First Order fits into this with Snoke... we know the First Order is just the evolution of the empire, Palpatines contingency with a few audibles thrown in along the way. How did Snoke come to rule this new Empire if he is indeed one of threats Thrawns knows of. Perhaps Snoke is impersonating someone else.

Wait JJ is not directing this? I assumed he was doing the whole trilogy.. He said he was leaving Star Trek to focus on Star Wars but he's left that too...

I think it's some sort of gimmick to not repeat directors so I think it'll probably contribute to weird tonal inconsistencies but that's just me. This one is some guy who directed Breaking Bad episodes. And then Episode IX is the guy who did Jurassic World because everyone but me thinks that movie was amazing.

So my preferred outcome for episode 8 and 9 is...
- Kylo trains with Snoke and Rey trains with Luke
- Snoke realizes that Rey has much more potential and tempts her to the darkside (the book already did this with having Snoke talk to Rey tempting her to kill Kylo) being the ignorant little girl she is and not understanding the force she joins him, Kylo gets swept aside but eventually comes back to Luke
- Luke now feeling terrible that once again his student has failed him (Rey), he is reluctant to take on Kylo but sees him as his final chance for redemption and vice versa in Kylo's eyes seeing Luke as a chance to make up for the wrong he's done.
- Luke is not ready to give up on Rey because of his emotional attachment to her due to Rey being his daughter (I think she is) and works on a plan to get her away from Snoke, however at this point Luke has not told anyone Rey is his daughter.
- Some filler stuff happen but eventually there's a final showdown with Luke and Kylo vs Rey and Snoke, Rey seems devoted to Snoke but during the battle she remains conflicted and sees through Snokes manipulation (I don't know what his grand plan really is tbh...). Luke reveals to Rey that he is her father, Kylo is present for this revelation and they realize they are all family. Perhaps at this point Rey, Luke and Kylo are the only family they all have left since I expect Leia will be written out most likely dead due to Carries passing.
- Together Luke, Rey and Kylo oppose Snoke in an epic battle and stop him and his mystery plan whatever that maybe. However in the process I expect one of our heroes to die, I'm thinking it would likely be Kylo but I could see it being Luke, probably not Rey.
- The two survivors return victorious and procced to build a new Jedi order.
----
It's a bit cliche with Rey being like Anakin however I think it's a great twist, everyone sees Rey as the Luke's and Kylo as the Vader here, but Vader really turned good in the end which could be a similar fate for Kylo, perhaps his love for Vader might foreshadow that he will follow in his steps.
Carries death really puts a damper in the sequels though... there's not much room for Kylo to return and reconnect with his mother now, and they said they wouldn't CGI Leia.
And obviously I left out most of the Resistance and first order stuff, but nobody cares too much for that IMO... and the resistance lost its backbone figure with Carrie as well...

I honestly don't really care about the sequels and what will happen... I guess as long as they don't rip off TESB/ROTJ it will be okay. But really all I want to see is Anakin's force ghost and well other prequel stuff.......
But yeah I think a similar thing to what you said Newan could happen

I think the Porgs are probably one of the most epic fails at "cutebait". It's so... creepy Good news though is that Rian confirmed in the EW articles that Luke didn't go to Ahch-To due to cowardice, but from the sounds of things it seems not even Abrams thought of a reason he was there. To be honest the planning and foresight for this trilogy seems very poor and made up on the spot.

Apparently Luke has a necklace of a piece of Vader's kyber crystal and it ties into the plot. I don't remember if this was just a rumor or what

Colin Trevorrow's out as Episode IX director.

Josh Trank got booted from the Boba Fett film, Gareth Edwards basically got replaced for Rogue One reshoots, Lord and Miller got fired from Han Solo, and now Trevorrow's been fired from IX. Lucasfilm definitely has some sort of internal problem here.

Not that I'm complaining in this case though... I think Trevorrow would have put out an average film at best.

Lucasfilm definitely has some sort of internal problem here. Yeah, no doubt there's something of a serious management issue at work here. On one side, I think Trevorrow was probably not the most sterling candidate for the film, given Book of Henry got torched (which I'm certain is the catalyst for his booting), but on the other it's very likely Disney's LucasFilm is not as fun to work with as Rian makes it out to be (unless he's very malleable for big businesses and/or knows how to play the game ). However I'd still like to see someone else take the captain's seat, because we don't know how good Rian is at this yet and I sure don't want Abrams to bring his creative bankruptcy to the table again.
