Have to admit, the trailer is pretty decent. I still have no faith in the actual movie though.

It would be near impossible for this movie to be AOTC levels of bad but I don't expect it to be anywhere near ESB. As long as they don't copy ESB too much, AOTC tried and did it in a very poor way

The trailer was very good I thought, and there's a lot to speculate. I really hope it isn't too similar to Episode V.

Yeah, this really made up for the lacklustre teaser. However there are some parts that worry me, chiefly among which is possibly turning Luke into a cowardly lion, which quite frankly, is just plain out of character for him. There's also an air of the prequels about it too, but I weirdly like that But the one thing I found funniest is how this trilogy might actually try to redeem that little Psycho Ren. True it may be that there are likely plenty of deceptive edits, but I'm certainly getting the feeling they're going to try it

“Fullfill your destiny”, at the end of the trailer. What a tease, we all know it’s not him. I’ve got to say though that this one looks better than the Force Awakens. Luke you better grow a pair and lead the team.

Luke being the way he is kind of bugged me at first too, but I've sort of warmed up to it. This means that they're giving him an actual character arc, and hopefully by the end of the movie he'll be fully into the fray again.
Also, I have a ton of faith in this movie. This is pretty much the only new Star Wars film that hasn't had behind the scenes problems. They completely finished the movie (including special effects and soundtrack) back in September, and Rian Johnson was their first pick for Episode IX after Trevorrow was fired. Rian Johnson really seems to be a passionate, creative guy, and he claims he had a lot of autonomy with this (which, yes, does kind of contradict stories of previous directors). Walker battle on a white planet, ehhhh, it does look visually stunning, but they could have done something else to avoid the obvious parallels to Empire Strikes Back. Still, I think this movie's going to be very good. At the very least, it will be more memorable than The Force Awakens.

Honestly, no matter what the reviewers or audiences were going to say, I simply was not interested to see this film. I gave TFA as much of a chance given the circumstances, but that film didn’t draw me in or make me care about anything that was going on.
I’m just not a fan of what Disney was doing with Star Wars. It’s not that I’m angry, I just didn’t care. I think it’s the fact that everything reset to the Episode IV situation. I just can’t suspend my disbelief that far even in something like this. The whole franchise just feels like it’s forcing conflict to keep the very loose saga going and it doesn’t feel like it has anything to do with the old movies. I still can’t accept that in a universe so vast and creative as Star Wars, all we can seem to do is retread the tired story of Rebels vs The Empire. I just don’t care about this franchise anymore and that hurts.
