This is the first quest of Ambodia. Make sure to create a character before signing-up. Quest: 001 - Curse of the Forest Host: PindaEstimated starting date: Tuesday the 24th of February Minimum/maximum amount of players: 5/10 Estimated duration: 5-8 days Special rules: None Players: Being inactive for more 24 hours results in a kick from the quest. To sign-up post: (name of character) will participate in this quest. IntroductionIn the darkest corner of Ambodia, to the west of the prosperous capital of Peenda city, lays a large forest known as the Shadows Woods. This forest hides many secrets, only very few adventurers ever dared to venture there... even fewer returned. No one knows what lays behind the woods. But there is something that is of more interest to the heroes of Ambodia, according to the legend a treasure is hidden in the forest, a treasure of gold, knowledge and power. Every year a enormous purple beam can be seen coming from the forest, going all the way up in the sky, with no end in sight. According to the rumors that is the location of the treasure, and only when the beam is active the treasure can be retrieved. So every year the lord of Peenda City challenges his bravest soldiers and adventurers to enter the forest and retrieve the treasure for him. The purple beam will appear again in seven days. The lord of Peenda has challenged you to bring him the treasure, promising you a great reward. Who will accept his challenge? There were six adventurers brave enough to take on the lord's quest. These adventurers were Ellus Cimber, Amara, Ghorak Skullsplitter, Karkoth Abaler, Korbulence Chordata and Ike Delaron. Together these adventurers would travel to the Shadow Woods and discover its secrets. But first they had to decide which one of them would lead their adventure. They decided to vote about this. Every adventurer had one vote, but they couldn't vote for themselves. And so the adventurers began to argue about who would be the best leader... Eventually the group chose the Argonian, Korbulence Chordata as their leader. Korbulence decided that it was time to travel to the Shadow Woods. For two days the group traveled towards the west until finally reaching their destination. Only there was a slight problem, there were three ways into the woods and the group wasn't sure which one to take. The first path went straight to the center of the forest, it seemed pretty easy to walk through as far as the adventurers could see. The second path was dark and it was hard to tell which way it went. At the end of the third path was a chest, could it be the treasure? Or another object of interest to the group? The only way to find out what is in it was by taking this road. But there was a sign place next to it saying: "Whatever you do, don't take this path." Which path should the adventurers take?

How active do you have to be to play this? I'd love to play, but with all the other stuff I'm doing (even with a week off), I don't want to commit and then be inactive for this. But if it's like the RP where about a dozen posts a day is fine, I might consider playing. But I haven't even read the rules yet, so IDK...

The most important thing is that your participate in the challenges the host gives you. I'm not yet sure how many there will be and how long they will last, I'll just see what works best. But you have to make a proper post (not something useless) at least once every 24 hours or the host can kick you from his quest.

Sounds fun, but I don't want to get involved in too much right now. I'll see if I can do this later on for sure.

Well, I need at least one more player before this quest can start... So I'm going to tag everyone that has been online in the last 24 hours bane Maverick-Jedi-Valen bobafett590 ?6 (CBK) Commander Slime Legolas squiggy red Echani Cad Bane (Dark) Malgus Is anyone of you interested in participating in Ambodia? It is a new kind of game that some of us originally tried in 2012, but I'm reviving it for the forums now. You can find the rulebook (work in progress) here. You don't have to read all of it since I'll explain a lot as the game progresses. You just need to read the character creation stuff and class stuff (so you can pick a class). Here is the character creation thread. Here is some general discussion about the game.

Pinda OOC: I signed up but i totally forgot to mention that i will be in England next week for 5 days. I just realised the Quest might not be finished around that time. Maybe it's better to sign me out just in case the quest takes longer then 5 days. Sorry for mentioning it so late, my excitement made me forget a number of things.

Well, I'm not sure how long this quest will last. It is supposed to be a short and simple quest to introduce the game. It could be finished in 5 days, but that really depends on how fast people will send in their decisions. I can remove you from the player list, but you could also play and see if you'll make it to the end or not. Unlike the Ambush games inactive players are not that much of a problem, especially if you inform the host in advance. If the quest isn't finished by the time you have to leave I'll remove you from the quest and give you some decreased awards depending on how far the quest progressed. But it's really up to you if you want do this or just not play the quest at all.

I'll start the quest in an hour. People can still join until the first decision has been made. The first decision is to pick a leader, so if someone joins later he just can't be the leader.

The quest has begun. From now on you can start roleplaying and discussing your decisions. Occasionally I will post a message about the quest, make sure you read those because most of them will be very important. I'll also add text to the first post for every new challenge you get, so make sure to read that too (I'll post a comment when I change the first post).
So, I just added some text to the first post. You have to pick a leader by voting. Just use VOTE: CHARACTER (PLAYER). The leader will be the person to send in decisions in some later challenges. For some challenges there will be other ways of sending in your decisions, like voting, but sometimes a leader is necessary, especially when there are many possible options. The leader should listen to the group before sending in his decision. Keep in mind that you can always pick a new leader if the majority of the group feels like the leader doesn't listen to them. Just post: OVERTHROW: CHARACTER.
You have 24 hours, or until one player has a majority, to select a leader. Good luck.

Sorry I should know all this but I've been gone a longggg time... XD ]

Ghorak should be leader. Ghorak strong, Ghorak lead Orcs to war [ OOC: Don't know the setting but taking a wild stab at it. ] Amara gave the orc a disdainful look, her orangish eyes clearly picking out every featural flaw on him. "You cannot much less form word endings as you could lead us," the mermaid responded, her voice strong and a bit whimsical and otherworldly. She reclined in her seat, swirling the contents of the glass bottle in her hand around as she did so. "You don't have my vote." The glass went to her cosmeticly adjusted red lips and she took a swig of the beverage. "Still, it's nice to know you have confidence. That counts for something." You didn't get anywhere without confidence or some other drive. Amara had an issue sometimes with respecting people, but she spoke her mind freely and respected when she believed respect was due. Like in this case. Still, she wasn't about to let some filthy orc lead the group on such an important quest. Yet she could still be swayed. They had the time.
