Yeah and if you move in a spinning motion you're gonna cut yourself. It seems inconvenient for the user. If they were just metal to make it look more like a sword that won't kill you, then I'd be more impressed. Sometimes simplicity like that works better than trying to complicate it. Maybe they like idk.... cut deeper? if you stab the lightsaber into a metal door or something and make a circle it'll be a thicker cut. Or if you impale someone too. Other than that then no other purpose.

What I don't understand is what those extra bits are for. Is it just meant to say "I'm so skilled with lightsabers, I can wield one like this without getting a single hand cut off"? Yeah and if you move in a spinning motion you're gonna cut yourself. It seems inconvenient for the user. I bet he be like "Check it out assholes, I can fight even using this stupid as f*ck lightsaber" and then like he accidentally stabs himself.

The thing is, they'll have to do something with it to justify its existence other then saying that it's meant to simply stand out.

It was just a small teaser since the full movie doesn't come out for over a year. Jurassic World comes out in 7 months and can show a lot more since a lot more of it's done. And I thought the effects looked really good... they seemed like a mixture of practical effects from the OT and digital effects from the PT. I like how it seems like they're blending them together. It looks like a fanmade trailer. And it looks rushed. There is no point in releasing a teaser trailer so soon. He has over a year to go. If they are rushing scenes just to produce a trailer than the movie won't be as good. And I hate how there doesn't seem to be any improvement on technology. Still the same looking starfighters from both Rebels and Imperials. There should've been some form of a change among the designs. And that beginning scene with the Storm Trooper was really dumb and unneeded. I do admit I liked the villains voice but way too similar to the Star Trek voice, and the villain looks promising. Hopefully... They aren't really rushing the scenes for the trailer since filming already ended 1 month ago... what was wrong with the stormtrooper scene? It revealed John Boyega's character.

They still have to add effects finish CGI. And do a lot more editing. Jurassic World isn't even finished yet. If they finished this early then it doesn't seem like they spent a great amount time on it.

Uh idk I liked the trailer but yeah parts of it looked fanmade or something.. But they always edit the CGI and whatnot later. That Stormtrooper shot was pretty cool I think they'll be badass in the movie. Can't really say much else we didn't see that much but a lot of the rumors and leaked plot points have some support now
And about the lightsaber... Yeah I think it's kinda weird like in normal swords that whole part is supposed to protect your hand not cut it off... But it's not really a big issue for me

So did you hear about the theory (some sources even claim it's confirmed) that a familiar Star Wars villain is actually controlling the villains of this trilogy? It would be interesting I think... as long as it isn't Sidious... He should stay dead. Long shot, I know, but maybe Maul? If not, then I may have to say (and this almost hurts) that it's Sidious. Oh, I'm sorry, I mean Sheev Well, I was thinking about Maul too... but he would be so old... although I guess Zabraks could age slower than humans. But yeah, other than Sidious (or the Inquisitor ) I don't see who else it could be.

It would be interesting I think... as long as it isn't Sidious... He should stay dead. Yeah, if they resurrect Sidious then they basically just ruined Anakin's entire story in the first six movies. I really hope they don't do that or resurrect Darth Vader or something (which would be even worse). There's been some pretty ridiculous rumors regarding the villains for this movie, and since it looks like quite a few rumors so far have been true, I'm getting worried about some things for this movie. Well Vader (or actually Anakin) could still return as a force ghost so they wouldn't have to bring him back. But yeah, there have been lots of rumors about the movie but this one is claimed by many sources as confirmed...

This is the Villain picture released a couple months back. Guess that's what he'll look like. Looks similar to Revan however... Revan is ultimate evil in the new trilogy - confirmed

I thought the trailer was decent. I'll be honest I wasn't expecting as good quality as the trailer presumed. I have never read anything or know anything about Revan and his story. I'm glad he's a confirmed villain because that will give me a chance to explore new characters. O and I don't think the saber sword look Is weird, it's a smart idea for the character in the movie who made it. Obi Wan got injured by Dooku after clashing Sabers with him because he didn't have that sword extension on the end to prevent Dooku from sliding his saber downward, which in trim opened up a move to Dooku's advantage.

But the light saber then again is the Star Wars trademark and should be kept alone.

No the villain looks more like the sith in the deceived trailer not Revan. And the Saber design was an idea for a cosmetic thing in SWTOR I believe but they scrapped it since the side things had no purpose.
Actually that's kinda smart though since then someone can't slide ther Lightsaber down yours and cut the hilt or arm. Anakin did something like that to Dooku. As long as you're not someone who holds it by the top it's a nice defence.

I like it and I like how it's clearly not 95% cgi like the prequels it's refreshing to see Star Wars like that . Similar to the OT but much better quality cause it's 35 years later.

Actually I bet you don't have to activate that part though. It's just an extra feature

I saw the trailer.. I was ok, but I agree that feature on the lightsaber is annoying and pointless. and what the hell is with that droid? And there so many comments on Youtube saying that guy can't be black because clones weren't black. LOL idiots most stromtroopers aren't clones by the time of the OT.

And then your opponent can say "Wow, what a retard"

I understand hand guards like swords have. But hand guards on swords aren't made of mini-blades too... so this doesn't make much sense. If it were two metal pieces, like cortosis, fine, protects you from a lightsaber so why not? But this isn't the case.

The unique Disney lightsabers created so far (The one for the Son ripoff and the one for the Revan ripoff) are designed for the sake of coolness and have thrown all logic out the window.

If the villain rumor is true, it's not going to be Revan. All the EU has been scrapped. I'm pretty sure they'd go with an all-new villain (makes the most sense) but if it's going to be an old villain it has to be from the movies, TCW, or Rebels.

Revan has to exist. Anything TOR should be canon. Why would anything from TOR alter the movies or OT or PT. Tor will always be Canon to me and thousands of others. I think Newan can agree

I'm not exactly a Revan fan, but everyone I know who is hates Disney because of what they did to Revan.
