We don’t really have a place to just talk about TV in general like we do for films (most of it ends up in MEC) so I thought I’d make a thread just for it.

I’m thinking about watching Deadwood but it’s kind of disheartening knowing it ends abruptly and I’d hate to end s show feeling unsatisfied.

Haven’t been able to watch much TV since getting back. Not much good television for me to watch, let alone having the time However, I have been watching The Orville, which probably has the biggest bouts of severe mood whiplash in a TV show and catching up with Gold Rush on the Discovery Channel, but other then that, it's been pretty dry here.

Really want to watch The Orville heard it's better than Star Trek Discovery Haven't seen Discovery and, despite the critics ripping it a new one, a strong fan base and viewership has gravitated towards the "parody" version. That said, from what I've seen and read, the new Trek doesn't really float my boat.

What are some TV shows that are satisfying and consistent all the way through? It seems like everything either becomes shit in the end or is cut off before it can deliver. Like barely anything sticks the landing.
Breaking Bad I guess. Is there anything else?

Like barely anything sticks the landing. Breaking Bad I guess. Is there anything else? Avatar: The Last Airbender, Gravity Falls and Red Dwarf are ones that come to mind, but you are right about lack of consistency in quality. There are loads of shows I love, but failed to deliver golden results from start to finish. Sometimes you get shows that start off very weak and build up into something better, or ones that hit the ground running, but wind up disappointing you when it comes to reaching the end.

Oh yeah, Gravity Falls is another good example. I feel like TCW is a show that started off weaker and then got better. And honestly this is much better than shows that lose their way.

It feels like every season of TV I’ve seen in the last year has been garbage. Ok GOT S7 wasn’t terrible but it disappointed me. Westworld S2 was a huge step down. And Walking Dead S8 was pretty much fucking nothing.

I can't even rely upon it for reruns of the good stuff I like.

Like barely anything sticks the landing. Breaking Bad I guess. Is there anything else? Are you only talking about shows that are already completed, or including ones still airing? I would consider Avatar: The Last Airbender, Breaking Bad, Seinfeld, and The Twilight Zone to all be completed shows that were good the whole way through. There's probably more I either can't think of currently or haven't watched.

Or rewatch the first three seasons of SpongeBob. I've done that several times and yet it still never gets old

The100 season 5 finale last night was pretty interesting. It was sad at the end but it was still a good storyline told in a 125 year gap within 5 minutes. Season 6 should be pretty interesting with a new planet.

bane Watched the first episode of Sharp Objects. A bit slow but intriguing. I’ll probably watch the second one tonight. Yes it's an especially "slow burn" according to the critics but I really don't mind as long as it's done well (which I think it is). If you haven't yet I would watch American Gods as well, surprisingly quality and I'm reading the book now.

I tried to watch it after reading Norse Mythology (from tye same writer as the American Gods book) and after 6 episodes I thought it was the most ridiculous mess I have ever seen. Nothing seems to make sense and most of it just seemed extremely boring to watch.

If you thought American Gods was a mess then never ever watch Legion lol.
