Either way, what do you all think of the music I posted above? Palpatine had a similar theme in ROTJ, so I think that was the main inspiration for Snoke's theme. I still think Snoke's an original character. And if he is, I think it works well. He hasn't just randomly appeared now; he's had a history with the main characters. Han and Leia knew who he was. Palpatine's theme is very different. These two themes are almost identical. Maybe the Snoke theme is slightly higher pitched, but it is still very similar. And he is an ancient character, in the novel (considered canon) he mentions he saw the rise and fall of the empire. The novel also mentions Han did not know about Snoke. Leia did, because she could sense him as he tried to infleunce Kylo. Apparently he whispered to Kylo through the force. Another interesting thing that is apparently in the novel is that he tells Kylo he has more potential than his previous student, implying he trained someone else before him...

Okay, I admit there's something very fishy going on with Snoke's identity. Sadly I don't think we'll be hearing anything from his past until at least Episode VIII.

I saw the movie yesterday, and I must say, I was kinda disappointed. It really didn't live up to the hype. While the dialog, humor and acting was better than the other movies, the plot was WAY too similar to IV.(The droid carrying the thing, the puppet apprentice, person on the desert til they find the droid, the father and son thing again was also too similar.) Not only that, but they blew up Coruscant....Why!?!?! I dunno, they introduced these new characters, but hardly used some of them - marketing. The whole 'planet death star deal' was a bit ridiculous... But I liked how they explained how it could fire with the whole draining of the sun thing! Anyways, maybe I'm just complaining too much, but it just wasn't how I expected it to be...

Oh. "“A team in the UK are soon heading to the US to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort,” a source told Making Star Wars in September. Though the source didn’t specify that he would be appearing as Vader or Anakin underneath, they added that a “fully operational Darth Vader Chest piece along with the helmet” was being made for the film." Save us all.... XD

I liked the ending.... But I didn't like the directing of the ending. I didn't like how it was circling them going so fast and then it cut. It was a tease :/

Did anyone find it weird the Rey thought Jedi were a myth, but then she knew how to use a Jedi Mind Trick....? I thought it was a little dumb. But I wished we saw more new ships, new tanks. That might be next one but I just wanted a really big battle.

That might be next one but I just wanted a really big battle. I find it weird that people forgot the Jedi already. Even in the original trilogy people didn't believe the Jedi existed... but clearly in both the original and sequel trilogy there where still plenty of people alive from the Clone Wars era (Chewbacca, to just name one). Obviously people wouldn't forget about them that quickly.

I know, got me questioning it too It is mentioned in the background though. Some Resistance guy says "They've destroyed the Hosnian system" so Coruscant's still AOK for now.

Really it wasn't Coruscant? That's both a relief and a little disappointing for me. Coruscant is one of my favorite planets so knowing it's fine is a good thing. But me thinking it was Coruscant made that haunting scene even more emotionally responsive for me. With that said it's still one of my favorite scenes from the movies. It was so haunting and it really felt horrible knowing that millions of people just suddenly died because this time we actually got a on screen response from the people on the planet (btw was that Martha from Doctor Who?) Great scene, especially carried by Williams's score.

It'd be awesome to see him transform into this powerful Sith Lord. Maybe even stronger then Palpatine was.

Exactly. I would make sense to speak of his previous apprentice if it was Palpatine. Wich probably means that he somehow survived the night Palpatine attacked him but still managed to fake his death so Palpatine believed he was dead after all. I can already picture a scene where he is training Ben Solo while explaining his survival and possible hand in Palpatine's plan after all. I'm just so glad to be quite certain now that Snoke is just a cover name. I consider the soundtrack evidence enough that he is Darth Plageuis. And ofcourse the novel you just mentioned supports it even more.

Pablo Hidalgo mocked the theory on twitter several times, but that might be because he wants to misdirect people. And one of the texts in the Art of TFA books says "Snoke almost became female at some point" of course, we don't know at what point in development they considered this, perhaps they added Plagueis later... but if it was considered later in development it would seem odd... Either way, the music and "The Supreme Leader is wise" line convinced me that the Plagueis theory could still work. Also, the novel also says that Snoke sees Kylo as a perfect embodiment of a combination of the light and dark side (there is also a line about the light and darkside in the trailer). That would make sense if you consider this scene: Palpatine says Plagueis told him about both the light and dark side.

The female design they almost came up with was probably during a time when they hadn't decided Snoke was Darth Plagueis yet. Pablo Hidalgo is probably messing with fans. He's quite the joker so don't take him to seriously. He works with Dave Filoni after all. At first i didn't care about all the Snoke rumours or the Darth Palgueis thoeries. But after seeing the film and hearing the soundtracks i am completely ready to jump on the "Snoke is Plagueis" bandwagon. And yes i indeed noticed that those lines were absent from the film itself. He still said them but not exactly like we heard in the trailer. I'm still not crazy about his design but that might because we didn't really get a good look at him yet since he was mostly covered in shadows. I'm sure he feels completely different when out of the shadows and actually interacting with Ren in person.

But I don't see why he would try to discredit a rumor (while refusing to say that Plagueis isn't Snoke) because he also said "Snoke is supposed to create speculation". So why discredit speculation, unless it's too close to reality? And yeah, I didn't like his design that much either, but I'm sure he will look a bit different in person.

Yes, it's been nearly 60 years since the Clone Wars, but it's not like we haven't forgot about World War II. As for the mind trick, it made sense because Rey didn't know what it was. The force had just awakened in her and even she wasn't totally sure what she was doing.

Kylo was born after Vader had already been burned, so whenever he finally went tot he funeral pyre (15 years later? 20 years later?) Vader's ashes would have been long gone. But his helmet still sort of being intact makes sense. Or maybe Kylo wasn't the one who retrieved the helmet and it was Snoke instead.

Same for the helmet. I can't imagine they just left Vader to burn and didn't even bother to pick up his burned helmet afterwards. I don't see why else Ren would have some bin of ashes around there... unless he smokes...

LOL, I just realized how funny it'd be if Luke just left the pyre burning and it caused some massive forest fire on Endor. I'm going to guess that we'll see more of Vader's helmet in the next one. I'm sure Kylo will be conflicted a lot more and we'll get more scenes of him talking it out that way.

I wonder how next one is going to go, like the training will obviously be in it... But they can't really have Resistance vs. First order since Resistance is severely lacking men and ships etc. I feel like there will be alot of Star Wars mythos, and force exposition. Just to add a lot of depth. And then Phasma or someone will steal the map to Luke and Snoke will send out Kylo and his knights to annihilate Luke and Rey. I can see something like that, but not sure really. It'd be sick to see a better trained Kylo facing off both Rey and Luke. Or even Snoke and Kylo facing Luke and Rey.
Then I think Finn will try to convince some of his "brothers", the stormtroopers to leave the First Order, and that's how he'll get involved.

Benicio del Toro was cast as a villain several months ago, so I bet he's playing one of the Knights of Ren. He'll probably be a rival of Kylo or something. I'm really curious what Hux will do in the next one since I was expecting him to die in TFA (I read a lot of the plot spoilers with this movie far in advance and none of them said Hux would live).

My favorite soundtrack is probably The Scavenger (I think that plays during the ending credits too). Unfortunately, there are no super memorable themes in this movie. Which sucks, because every other movie had at least one theme that was really memorable. Who knows though, maybe the music for this will become more iconic over time.
