The moment when Finn asked Rey: "How did you do that!?" and she responded with: "I don't know" At that moment i knew she was a Jedi and most likely Rey Skywalker. Rey taking the lightsaber before her duel with Kylo was totally epic. The music there gave me chills. I know that was so cool! The paid attention to the music throughout and John Williams really nailed it again.

The Millennium Falcon's introduction was also perfect. When Rey first said "that ship's garbage", I knew it would be the Falcon. The theater went crazy in laughter and applause when that scene happened. Same here! Only with me it was only me and friend that did that. Our audience was surprisingly dull. They didn't even clap at the end.

Wait, wait, wait guys. I know it looks like he totally kicked the bucket, but Han fell down a chasm. Now if we look back at similar "deaths", then we may not have ourselves a stiff after all Han with spider legs confirmed.

I thought I heard that somewhere. I hope he does.

I think it would be neat to see an appearance from either Yoda or Ben Kenobi in spirit form. Giving advice to Luke or something.

At my theater, everyone clapped at these points: Lucasfilm logo and opening crawl Millenium Falcon's introduction Han and Chewie's introduction First time Finn ignites the lightsaber Leia and 3PO's intro R2's intro Ackbar's intro (you know you're in a theater full of Star Wars fans when everyone cheers there ) Rey igniting the lightsaber Luke's intro Ending credits Lots of cheering. It was fun. Han's death was a lot more shocking to watch with everyone in the theater too. A few people gasped out loud.

But it was only me and my friends. The rest of the audience just sat there. Before the movie started there was this guy walking around dressed up as Vader and we clapped for him when he stood infront of the screen showing off his costume. And even then it were just me and my friends clapping. We clapped so hard at the end people looked at us funny. I hope i have a better crowd when i'm going to see it again and i'm trying to get myself a Star Wars Cosplay costume i can put on for Episode VIII (or Rogue One)

Saw the movie yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Fun & engaging.
My audience was really boring though. Never clapped and only laughed here and there . That being said my cinema was only half full and it'd probably be a much better experience if I saw it in a big cinema like IMAX.

One thing I'm looking forward to in Episode VIII is seeing the parallel between Rey training with Luke and Kylo training with Snoke. It'd be cool if the climax of the movie was a reversal of duels and we'd see the masters fight the apprentices. So Luke would fight Kylo and kick his butt, but at the same time Rey would get captured by Snoke or something. I definitely want to see Luke fight Kylo though.

So, my thoughts on the movie:
I liked it. Yes, this is the first thing Disney did that I liked.
Kylo Ren was an interesting character. He seemed to have even more anger issues than other dark siders but he also seemed to hesitate a lot about being on the dark side. I think they should not have revealed his identity as soon as they did though. They should probably have waited until the scene where he kills Han. Anyway, it seems obvious that he will be redeemed eventually. He definitely seems more interesting than Vader in ANH. I mean, Vader seemed cool but was barely developed as a character in that movie.
I liked Finn at the start of the movie, the way they portrayed him as a stormtrooper gave more depth to all stormtroopers. And I liked the three main character a lot more than I liked Han, Luke and Leia in the originals.
The parallels with Hux and Hitler were a bit too extreme in my opinion. I mean, the color schemes and look of the podium were enough, they didn't have to make him scream like Hitler... Phasma was just really disappointing in general, she literally did nothing and every time she was on screen she annoyed me...
I was fairly certain Han was going to die, and I was right... but I think his death was really well done, better than I expected. Most of the other original characters didn't do much so I don't have much to say about them.
Snoke... well, at first I didn't like him because I thought he was actually some kind of giant, but it turned out to just be a huge hologram (which I was hoping throughout the whole scene). He could still be a giant, but I don't think he will be, they said he would be 7 feet. I just wonder why there were pictures from behind the scenes of Serkis standing by a lake. We never got to see anything like that. Are they filming episode 8 already? Either way, I won't judge his character's appearance until we see him for real. But I still believe he could be Plagueis. Ren specifically referred to him as "Wise" (which would be a huge coincidence if it wasn't Plagueis) and then there is the musical hint I posted above...
Overall I think the movie was very similar to ANH... but it was still good. The only thing I didn't like in terms of similarities was Starkiller base, it was kind of stupid to have another kind of death star and destroy it after it's used once again... I hope they drop the similarities in later movies though, for example I don't want Kylo to kill Snoke in the 9th movie... I mean, obviously Snoke would have learned from Palpatine's mistakes.
Either way, I think TFA may be one of the better Star Wars movies, I don't know exactly if I like it better than ROTS or ROTJ... but it's good.

Predictions for Episode VIII: - Finn finds Rey again. She is now a Padawan training with Luke and she becomes a full Jedi at the end of the film or she is already a Jedi when they find her. - More Poe Dameron and some more development for the Resistance. - The Knight of Ren in action - Kylo training to become a full Sith. Possible we might see a Jedi and a Sith training in this movie at the same time. - The return of an angry Captain Phasma who actually does something. - Rematch between Rey and Ren - Possible Luke .vs. Snoke? I think the scars Snoke had in Force Awakens are because of Luke - Snoke gets a better name. Obviously Snoke got his scars from Palpatine's assassination attempt and his real name is Plagueis.

Yeah, my theater was packed as well (I got there an hour early and was lucky enough to get 3 seats in a row high up with my two brothers). As for Snoke's size, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. For all we know, he could be 2 feet tall. And LOL, yeah, that scene with BB-8 was one of the funniest in the movie. I couldn't quite tell if that was his true size or just a hologram for Snoke. In the first scene he kind of faded like light (leading to the hologram theory) but the next scene he seemed like a real figure....I hope he's human size He was clearly a hologram in both scenes. They already said he will be "7 feet" tall.

I loved it, definitely a 9/10. Daisy Ridley killed it as Rey. I was a bit dissipointed though with Kylo Ren's face TBH. He should have had a scar his acting was fine, but his face was just... bland. Not evil looking. And I didn't like how the weapon destroyed the entire planet. But I was confused, what happened to Akbar's fleet? And who were the Republic? And did Starkiller destroy Coruscant???
Han Solo said Luke was going to go to the steps of the Jedi Temple.... so I was actually pumped to see the old Jedi Temple but nope :/ and I thought he would be on Dagobah too, but it was just an unknown planet.

I'm kind of worried that there will be different directors, it might feel awkward. And some of them might not be the best at it.

I think villains with scars/cybernetic parts is kind of cliched now. It was refreshing to have a bad guy with a normal face (well, I guess Dooku appeared "normal" as well). According to the new EU, the New Republic was formed shortly after the Battle of Endor. I think they had a peace agreement with the First Order or something, but the Resistance didn't trust the First Order so they broke off as a sort of splinter group. Apparently Starkiller Base destroyed the Hosnian system (the planet we see in particular is Hosnian Prime). I think they should have mentioned that instead of just calling it "the capital of the Republic", because I've seen a lot of people confused that Coruscant might have been destroyed.

It can't be from Episode VIII though, because they've only filmed one scene so far, which takes place on the planet Luke was hiding on.

Oh.
"“A team in the UK are soon heading to the US to begin training Hayden Christensen for a Star Wars: Episode VIII appearance of some sort,” a source told Making Star Wars in September. Though the source didn’t specify that he would be appearing as Vader or Anakin underneath, they added that a “fully operational Darth Vader Chest piece along with the helmet” was being made for the film."

If there will be a suit-wearing Vader appearance I don't see why Hayden Christensen would be involved. But I guess force ghost Anakin would make sense.

Either way, what do you all think of the music I posted above? Palpatine had a similar theme in ROTJ, so I think that was the main inspiration for Snoke's theme. I still think Snoke's an original character. And if he is, I think it works well. He hasn't just randomly appeared now; he's had a history with the main characters. Han and Leia knew who he was.
