Rogue One's been confirmed to be about rebels stealing the Death Star plans. I heard there was some kind of trailer but never knew if it was fan made or not. I like the idea though sounds cool and probably better then some character specific story They did show a 30 second teaser at the panel (but it's no official footage since they haven't started filming yet). It had a voiceover by Alec Guinness' Obi-Wan. You can find a blurry version of it on Youtube.

A small squad would be cool gives room to develop them all.

I wonder if they'll include any TCW/TESB bounty hunters in it...? I'd prefer a small team like Rebels has though, rather than a really large group with focus on only 2-4 characters.

It's seriously bugging me with the amount of people online who are making jokes about seeing the Bothans die. That was for the second Death Star, not the first... nerdy trivial things like that bug me.

Second Death Star was around at a time when the Rebels where a lot more situated so it would be kind of cool. But I do kind of want to know how the Rebels actually got the plans.

True but given the Rebels are not very big at this time how hard would it be to get some disguises and walk on in? I mean they don't even consider them a threat at least Tarkin didn't really. Unless it's really secure and I guess they would have to find where the plans are and actually learn about the Death Star it seems they kept that pretty quiet for a long time

Or they actually keep the plans on the Death Star which would make sense

I hope the characters from Rebels won't be involved in this movie about the Death Star plans. Not trying to hate on Rebels in this thread, but if it is a stand alone movie with unique (or PT/TCW) characters I would watch it. But since it will take place just before ANH it could tie into the Rebels series... which would be unfortunate in my opinion.

Pretty sure it won't tie into Rebels or PT at all and hopefully it does not.
Probably just a small squad of infiltrators all new and stuff. It has to take place right before ANH anyways since Leia was running away with the plans and gave them to R2.

I don't want this to tie in with anything really like Rebels but it actually might be cool to see the Rebels characters in live action..

I wouldn't worry about it though since I'm pretty sure this is going to be all new characters.

I want a TOR Spin off :/
You know how epic that would be, there's room for so much more ideas and details and no stretched timeline or characters.

If they dropped TCW to do that I would have been on board day 1. But Disney has no plans to interfere in TOR era anyways so Bioware is free to continue doing what they have been on SWTOR like the recent Shadow of Revan

I would love for a Kotor movie.

At the celebration they quite clearly said that they have no plans and are fine with what SWTOR team is doing its also not ruled out the possibility of TOR (at least SWTOR) being canon again due to them not really caring

Vader will be in it, according to some new info.
Also side note but Nar Shaddaa is going to be back in canon in the Star Wars (2015) comics about the Rebels between Episode 4 and 5. I'm sort of interested in reading those there's also one of Darth Vader between that same time as well. Maybe in November when the full graphic novels for both come out

Looking really good so far... although I would have liked to see an alien or two as a part of the main rebel group.

Yeah this movie looks awesome, I'm glad Star Wars is doing more then just the main movies, but they don't go like full marvel.
There's only one female on the cast, and I think this is like the first time an Asian has been in a movie...

Surprised this is the most anticipated film of 2016 actually. I figured it'd be top 5, but I didn't expect people to look forward to this more than any other movie this year.
Also, releasing Rogue One before Episode VIII is a little risky. After all the hype of TFA, this could kill some of the momentum since it's going back over 30 years to a time period with completely new characters/setting. If they create really great characters in Rogue One, it may make people like the leads of the ST less since they aren't really established yet (vs seeing them in 2-3 movies where we have a better idea of who they are). Undoubtedly it'll do amazing at the box office and so will Episode VIII, but it could still be a risky move unless it ties into the ST directly somehow. While that would be cool, I'm not sure how I feel about that. It might be kind of forced.

None of what I said really applies to me or other hardcore fans, but for casual ones it may affect them. Either way, I'm still pumped for this film since it seems like it'll be pretty dark, gritty, realistic, and a fun story to see unfold. Hopefully there's a nice twist though since we already know how this movie will end in the overall story.
