About an hour left until I have to start refreshing for torrents... just enough time for a game of League.

GET READY
(I am going to cut myself off from the internet now while I wait for some pirate hero to upload the episode.)

I bought Hulu for this but it turns out I could’ve watched it my DirecTV app.

I was worried the show would turn into just North vs Cersei vs WW but it looks like it's gonna be a lot more complicated than that and this episode really got me excited.

So nothing too major I guess.
Honestly every time someone mounts a dragon I feel that must be so uncomfortable... Like how does a giant spike not just stab your taint

That jump-scare though...
This episode felt a bit rushed, especially Theon's story. I expected that to last longer than a single episode. But at least they did show us the most important reunions.
I am glad we got the first sign of the Night King being more than mindless evil too. I still worried that given the limited time they would decide to dumb him down... but they didn't. Also, he left that message behind for a reason... he knew Tormund, Beric and the Night Watch would find it, or else why would he bother? I really think the Night King has powers similar to Bran's, he can see things that are happening and have happened.

Also when Bran said he was waiting for an old friend... He meant Jaime I guess... So that's interesting...

Yeah Theon freeing Yara that easy was a bit surprising. I guess they wanted him to be at Winterfell ASAP.

I think we will just see some reunions at Winterfell. Jon learning about his parents (and the tension that will create). And some stuff with Cersei preparing her army. And maybe a bit of Theon... and perhaps Jaime arrives North in the end... if he ever makes it that far. Seems like I was 100% correct.

This episode mainly set things up, but it still excited me. The reunions were all great and felt natural. Also a lot of sexual tension and humor lol. Sam finding out about his family was really sad though... but I like how he told Jon about his lineage instead of someone else. For a moment, I thought Tormund was going to die, but I'm kind of glad he didn't yet. I think it was more powerful to have him live and see the message alongside the others.

Also we still don't have an episode title. Apparently it is "Winter is Here" as everyone predicted. Don't see why they kept that a secret.

Like Cersei, I'm disappointed that we won't be getting elephants. Those would've been awesome to see. The new title sequence was also super cool, especially seeing the Wall broken.

I often watch a Dutch Twitch duo and they also love Game of Thrones (even though they barely understand the plot) and they have been doing reviews for each episode since season 6. They said the only thing they were looking forward to were the elephants (and the Mountain) so hearing their reaction to this episode will be interesting.

I can already envision the memes for that scene with Cersei serving as a disappointed audience.

Apparently it's "Winterfell". I don't know why they're being so damn secretive about a simple title though.

Good episode, I'm kind of surprised they had Jon riding a dragon in the first episode. I thought it was something they might save for the finale. I'm curious what the Night King's actual motivations are.
Some things in this episode seem to set up something from a big leak from several months ago. I kind of hope it doesn't happen because then that would spoil a pretty big death...

No. Next episode is just setting up the battle. It will probably end with that shot from the trailer of the Night King arriving at Winterfell. Then the third episode (which is 82 minutes) is the Battle of Winterfell.

I am pretty sure Tyrion is a traitor by the way. He knows Cersei won't come. That's why he looks guilty all throughout the episode and also that's why Bran looked at him like that.
I don't get why Tyrion would go north knowing that Cersei will screw them over though...
