So since the politics thread worked pretty well I decided to create another similar thread, for history. So in this thread you can discuss historical events and figures. You can still discuss the politics of historical figures in the "politics" thread though. But here non-political stuff can also be discussed.
I added a poll to start some discussion. Who is your favorite historical figure? It doesn't have to be anyone your like or agree with, it can also be someone that you just find interesting. You may choose 3 people from the poll.

A lot of these figures are evil That doesn't make them any less interesting or important. Also, evil is just a point of view. They didn't see themselves as evil. And evil people are usually remembered longer than "good" people. In 500 years people will still know who Hitler was, but people like Churchill will be forgotten.

He was the most interesting to learn about. People often think too highly of him though. Yes, he helped defeat Hitler in World War 2... but that doesn't make him a good person. In my opinion he wasn't.

Or make favourite historical civilizations as a poll. Basically many Europe, Asian and Native ones not North America, Australia, South America as most of those places are colonies. Mayan, Aztecs, Huns, Mongols, Greeks, Romans, Babylon, Persia, Egypt, Byzantium, etc
