Meh it was okay, the animation was excellent and the story at least progressed. But it didn't feel like a finale, not much of a cliffhanger or anything like that. The show could have ended here to be honest. Also the Batch barely made any progress. Kamino got destroyed, sure... but the Bad Batch are just in the same position as they were after episode 1. So yeah, I just feel like my original worries for this show (the Bad Batch not being interesting enough for their own show) were correct. I can't believe there's literally like no story. The characters don't have any objective at all they are just aimlessly wandering around the Galaxy. They might as well have made a clone rebellion with Rex the central focus of the show I think this season was a character building season mostly, I think there’s gonna be a central plot in the coming seasons. I have a feeling Nala Se is how we will see Palpatine enter the show since he obviously has an interest in clones Honestly the eventual appearance of Boba Fett stands to be pretty interesting as well since they know he’s the Alpha clone and Omega is basically the closest relative he has more so then other clones.

I didn’t mind the episode, was it a great finale? Not really... kind has like season 3 clone wars ending vibes where nothing really significant happens other then character building on a main character.
The visuals are spectacular though and I really liked seeing Kamino not overcast for once. I think that was a good send off for a planet we may never see again in any future stories regardless if it’s this show. Also really liked the inclusion of the giant sea monster, not something we see much and only really present in TPM and comics.
I guess AZ is gonna be the R2/ Chopper of this show which I’m actually pretty cool with, he’s a decent comedic relief character for sure kinda like that protocol droid in the later Rebels seasons.
While I liked Crosshairs actions in this episode and I like that there’s a subtle relationship with Crosshair and Omega building since episode 1 I just wish he went with the squad... we know it’s gonna happen and I’m 90% sure he still has his chip in, he held his head a few times this episode.

Season 2 I mainly want to see
- Palpatine and what his plans are with the head scientist - Rex more... his actions are pretty under the wraps but he’s definitely planing something. - Crimson Dawn, probably not Maul himself but I want his syndicate to start gaining traction which is why I think we saw the Pikes get introduced tbh - Separatist rebellion, I think the episode on Raxus has established this as a possibility and I wouldn’t mind seeing some Kalani type seppie holdouts kinda like how the Japanese in real life fought way after not believing the war was over - Jedi survivors, while I don’t want this show to be too heavy with the force I think it would be interesting to see a few Jedi and how they interact with the Batch - Jabba and Tatooine at some point, also wouldn’t mind if Tobias appeared in this show...
Ofc I think we will get more Ryloth stuff but I hope they make Sid more interesting too

AZI should have died tbh it was so annoying when Omega went back for him. Omega annoys me now honestly. And their tiny shuttle will get really cramped with anymore crew members. Already it felt like there was no room for Crosshair when the show started. Maybe it'll get destroyed and they get a new one
Also if they are seriously trying to tie this into TROS with Palpatine clones, I'll be so pissed. No one fucking likes that movie and everyone is trying to forget about it... I did see some people say how the Daro base at the end was similar to the Thrawn trilogy where there was a secret mountain facility on planet Wayland used for cloning. It'd be great if they somehow just adapted the Thrawn books. Much better than trying to salvage the unsalvageable sequels

So I think if I were to rank all the episodes, I’ve seen all of them 2-3 times except the finale.
Aftermath - 9/10 (Actually thought the premiere was excellent and a nice transition from episode 3 to Empire)
Cut and Run - 6/10 (Nothing particularly bad about this one, but nothing spectacular either. Seeing Cut again was kind of cool)
Replacements - 6/10 (The Crosshair stuff in this episode saved it from possibly being the worst of the season, the stuff on the moon wasn’t interesting)
Cornered - 6/10 (Honestly was maybe thinking it would be higher but I really don’t like Fennec in this time period all that much, however Pantora was cool and I’m glad we got to see it used from the Clone Wars concepts)
Rampage - 7/10 (The Zygerians were cool to see again and Ord Mantell is actually a better planet imo then say Lothal in Rebels, didn’t really know at the time though that we would see a lot more Sid and Ord Mantell in the rest of the season)
Decommissioned - 5/10 (This is gonna be tied for the worst but I just really don’t like seeing the Martel sisters, while Corellia was cool there just wasn’t enough here)
Battle Scars - 7/10 (This could maybe be an 8 but the stuff with Wrecker was so obvious, while I liked seeing Rex, Barca and the Venator the episode was fairly predictable)
Reunion - 8/10 (Solid episode and that ending with Cad Bane might be one of his best moments ever)
Bounty Lost - 7/10 (While Cad Bane and Todo were super cool again I don’t like the inclusion of Fennec and how she was able to go toe to toe with him, but I think they are trying to establish her and Boba against Bane or something)
Common Ground - 7/10 (Seeing Raxus and the current dynamic between former separatists vs the empire was appreciated, this episode definitely is setting up something in the future)
Devils Deal - 9/10 (This was probably the most surprising episode of the season, I actually wasn’t all that interested in going back to Ryloth so soon since it’s been prominent in TCW and Rebels but it was actually great for many reasons. Rampart was excellent here and felt like a threat. This was probably Crosshairs best episode of the season up to this point. Howzer was cool and honestly Hera wasn’t bad at all. Maybe this episode was so good because it gave us a break from the Batch.)
Rescue on Ryloth - 8/10 (Good again for many of the reasons above but I felt like the rescue was a bit too easy)
Infested - 5/10 (Obvious filler but some cool aspects like the Pykes, was kinda hoping this would be a send off to Ord Mantell tbh)
War Mantle - 8/10 (Gregor makes sense with whatever Rex is planning, I liked the introduction of TK troopers especially using the original concept for their initial armor. Scorch was a nice little cameo. The visuals were spectacular though. Something about forest planets with the current level of animation is quite stunning I find)
Return to Kamino - 9/10 (I liked this one, actually had a few unexpected twists at the end with Crosshair and seeing Kamino destroyed was actually pretty sad but sort of expected from the Empire)
Kamino Lost - 8/10 (Not awful but like I said gives season 3 Clone Wars Vibes where it mainly builds character but doesn’t really push the needle, again the visuals here was stunning)

Finally tally 115/160 = 71.8% for the season which I think is fair. I would have probably said season 1 was a 7/10 for me. The visuals and overall pretty good music are helping elevate some of the character and plot flaws.

I might have to binge the whole season to come up with my ratings. I stopped watching each episode more than once at a certain point. Right now though I want to say Rebels' season 1 was better than this... I didn't think so while the episodes were coming out but reading newan's review made me realize just how many lackluster episodes were in this season. Rebels Finale was for sure better imo. Batch finale might not have been as disappointing for people if they just cut it at part 1
Not sure if it's better or worse than Mando season 1 though might not be fair to compare live action with animation. I think live action will just feel more epic typically

I think live action will just feel more epic typically Mando is definitely better IMO, I’d rank Mando season 1 as better than any of the animation shows first seasons including TCW, there’s just too many bad clone wars episodes in season 1 and I can’t get the awful animation of the droid arc out of my head... plus Ahsoka was next level cringe at times. While I very much enjoy the time period of The Bad Batch and I like the Empire building up, my concern is with the characters. They aren’t interesting enough or diverse enough long term. Rebels at least in the later seasons actually built the squad to be pretty interesting. Even Zeb had some nice episodes with Kallus.

I'm not too sure what I wanted from the finale but this was good enough. The animation was spectacular and this served as a great farewell to Kamino. Not really expecting to see it in TV ever again, but that's ok. At least we caught a glimpse of it when it wasn't raining as well as that giant sea creature.
I like AZ and they can probably use him effectively next season, but I feel it would've been more powerful had he died. Nala Se as the cliffhanger means she'll be a big focus next season, but I agree it didn't seem as good as what could've been a teaser... maybe something with Rampart and a new task, or a character like Rex or Saw.
To be honest, it could've been cooler to have the previous episode as the finale and then this one would be the opener to a 70 min S2 premiere. I get the writers probably wanted to show the aftermath immediately, but this episode just felt to me like it needed a lot more afterwards. I still enjoyed it, but I think it's overshadowed by a handful of others, and that's a shame for a season finale.

Hmm apparently that actually was Mount Tantiss on Wayland at the end... That’s kinda big tbh. An Heir to the Empire adaptation is looking more and more likely now. But if they tie it into the shitty Snoke/Palpatine clone nonsense I will be beyond disappointed.
I really need to read those books. I kind of know a lot of what happens in them but I think fully reading it will be better. A lot of things seem interesting like the Jorus C’Boath character

Season 2 trailer at celebration. While it’s a little hard to carry this show with these characters. Some of these shots look incredible and I do want to see more of the post ROTS stuff. I would actually really like to see stuff like the Imperial occultation of Naboo and Mon Calamari in this show. Also I still want to see some separatist holdouts, I feel like that’s something this show has to touch on.
Guessing it’s Kenobi then Andor 2 months later, this will likely start sometime when Andor is ending and Mando season 3 should start mid season for Bad Batch which might lead into Ahsoka once Bad Batch and Mando end. Lots of content it seems. I think Bad Batch is on traditional clone wars/ rebels release times now starting in October and ending in March/ April.

In the sense of showing us more of the imperial senate and the politics. We kinda got a bit of that on Raxus last season, but I really want to see more of that stuff.

So it sounds like S2 is delayed. Not too surprising given that Andor was pushed back a month. Seems more likely this will air between Andor and Mando S3, so maybe late November start date.
We still have Tales of the Jedi supposedly releasing before the end of 2022 though, so unless that's getting delayed too, it doesn't seem like Disney can avoid these shows overlapping at least a few weeks.

Apparently the release got confirmed for September 28th and the rumors otherwise are just a site error.
With 3 weeks to go, DF probably would have said something by now. I’m looking forward to this, rewatching the first episode right now. The premiere was really good tbh, some of the filler later on wasn’t so much.

I still haven't seen anything concrete in a while and nearly all Star Wars promos right now are focused on Andor. I agree that if it was delayed, we'd hear about it officially by now, but also Andor was suddenly delayed pretty close to its original release date. Fingers crossed it sticks to September. I rewatched S1 a few months ago, the premiere is definitely the best episode even though it's basically a mini movie. I'd put it up there with some of TCW's best offerings. The episodes with Bane and Hera, as well as the last 2 on Kamino were also really good. Oh, and probably War-Mantle, although more so for its lore expansion.

New trailer. Lol why did the announcer say "Parents: the Bad Batch" at the end... Honestly I'm kinda indifferent about this. I think the first trailer was more interesting to me. I meant to rewatch season 1 because I don't remember anything but I just never feel like it. This show is kinda just there for me. Can't say I'm particularly excited for season 2. I was looking forward to Cody but I think it's 100% a given he will defect. Pretty tired of seeing bad guys turn good.
I guess the Mount Tantiss stuff is also intriguing but I'm worried they will connect it to TROS. Oh and curious about that creature at :44 that breaks through the mountain. Design of the head looks similar to the Zeffo

Episode 201 “Spoils of War” – Wednesday 4th January 2023 Episode 202 “Ruins of War” – Wednesday 4th January 2023 Episode 203 “The Solitary Clone” – Wednesday 11th January 2023 Episode 204 “Faster” – – Wednesday 18th January 2024 Episode 205 “Entombed” – Wednesday 25th January 2023 Episode 206 “Tribe” – Wednesday 1st February 2023 Episode 207 “The Clone Conspiracy” – Wednesday 8th February 2023 Episode 208 “Truth and Consequences” – Wednesday 8th February 2023 Episode 209 “The Crossing” – Wednesday 15th February 2023 Episode 210 “Retrieval” – Wednesday 22nd February 2023 Episode 211 “Metamorphosis” – Wednesday 1st March 2023 Episode 212 “The Outpost” – Wednesday 8th March 2023 Episode 213 “Pabu” – Wednesday 15th March 2023 Episode 214 “Tipping Point” – Wednesday 22nd March 2023 Episode 215 “The Summit” – Wednesday 29th March 2023 Episode 216 “Plan 99” – Wednesday 29th March 2023
Just some guesses maybe the premiere is them on that beach planet running from the crab things. Solitary Clone could be about Rex or Howzer or some lone wolf clone. If there is a Zeffo connection that could be episode 5. The Summit penultimate episode is surely at Mount Tantiss

I think more of a TCW format would have been good tbh where it’s not always the Batch we’re focused on. I do like seeing Sidious, I assume he’s there due to what’s happening with the Kaminoans.
I really don’t like that Crosshair is still the enemy.

Really struggling to care about this. The first series was overblown and forgettable. Getting the wookie kid back is nice, but still absolutely stumped on why Disney thought given a team of boring archetypes their spin off was brilliant

They just needed to go more TCW way and have other stories as well imo

Pretty underwhelming premiere lol. Though actually idk if I would even say underwhelming because I went in with zero hype or expectations. Don't really even have expectations anymore with how often Disney Star Wars disappoints...
I think these should've been the second and third episodes of the season and the premiere should've had more main storyline stuff. These felt like the many filler episodes Rebels had. I was surprised there was nothing with Crosshair, Mount Tantiss, or any of the other threads from season 1. Even the Rampart scene didn't exactly tease anything.
Also Serreno felt rather wasted, I really thought they'd do more with it. Maybe show Dooku's family or something. Because they could've replaced the planet and the palace with any new location and it would've made no difference.
It's also annoying how they always portray Dooku as a generic evil villain. I thought Filoni finally gave him some nuance in Tales of the Jedi but now having him stealing from his people feels like a direct contradiction to how he was shown as being against corruption... I'm just going to head canon that the Romar dude was an unreliable narrator

This premiere was very average, felt like filler you'd expect during the middle of the season. It also reminded me of how the Rebels season 3 opener was, which is to say forgettable and essentially running through the motions. Pretty shocked it didn't drop more hints at what to expect in overarching plots like Kenbo mentioned. Maybe episode 3 will get some more stuff going in that regard.
I'm curious how many additional seasons are planned for this show. I don't really need filler episodes like these ones. That's fine for the first season as we learn more about the main clones, but now each episode should be more meaningful with its connections to the wider galaxy. Honestly, I think they could wrap up everything after a third season as long as they don't introduce too many loose ends in this season. And that's all this show really needs anyway, the crew isn't that interesting to headline a series much longer than that.
Anyways, I'm sure there will be much better episodes later on. Just a bit surprised how bland the kickoff for the second season turned out.

I'm curious how many additional seasons are planned for this show. Wondering this about all of their shows. Hard to tell what their goal is with these series. Are they supposed to be miniseries? Are they all connected and will lead to a big culminating event? Because they don't really feel that connected, not the way Marvel content feels. Do they go in with a plan for X seasons or just arbitrarily decide to do more? Their logic for renewal is also very strange. From the metrics, any other studio would've cancelled Andor after season 1 yet they're going ahead with season 2. OWK and BOBF seemed to do fine with numbers but were not super well received overall yet there's rumors to continue those as well. More seasons for those two will I think would feel forced and tacked on as their first seasons left no room for continuation. I think Mando might be the only one with an endgame plan. Bad Batch could be like TCW/Rebels and they just do as much as they can before they're told to end. I actually wouldn't mind a long running animated series with a new season every year. I think it'd be good to have a staple show like that just not sure if I want it to be Bad Batch. I like the show overall but it's not super exciting or diverse in its stories. I think Rebels maybe even Mando had the potential to be that show that's always there though Rebels was obviously before D+ and I think Covid really screwed Mando. Plus live action Star Wars maybe isn't as sustainable as animation
