It’s surprising how well Witcher 3 is doing right now, it’s getting 2015/ 2016 numbers again in purchases and concurrent players... 2015 was release, 2016 was Blood and Wine expansion,
CD Projekt Red is best developer right now, super player friendly. $10 DLC for 10 hours of content, $20 DLC for 30 hours. All other 16 pieces of DLC were free. Can’t wait for Cyberpunk 2077 in April. They are the devs I definitely support the most. Rockstar and Bethesda both used to be some of my favorites but they gone way too hard of micro transactions. Even Jagex was great at one point...

I'm 2 episodes in, and it's already impressing me. I didn't expect the effects to be as good as they are, and I really like Cavill as Geralt. So far all the plotlines are interesting, too.
I'm familiar with some of the story as I've played Witcher 3 and read some of the lore beyond that. However, there are definitely parts that still confuse me a bit in terms of how the timeline is unfolding. Maybe it'll become easier to follow as the show progresses, but I can't imagine viewers without prior knowledge understand it all super well.

Season 2 is said to have a much more focused story. My guess is they are going to focus on Geralt and Ciri together. Yen will probably come in at some point.

I hope next season we see a Werewolf and a Leshen. Would also like to see some kind of Vampire at some point, although I think it’s likely they could pull a Blood and Wine type story and give us a whole season dedicated to Vampires with a Higher or Elder Vampire as the antagonist, it would make for a very good story on the Witcher lore and their sense of morality/ code. Would also be a good chance to introduce Regis. Spoiler for book/ game lore... Many vampires are sentient, including Higher Vampires which can take the form of Humans, they are also immortal. Witcher’s technically don’t kill sentient creatures but vampires walk a very fine line between being a danger and not. Higher vampires can also only truly be killed by another higher vampire, if not they will always be reborn at some point.
Regis is a higher vampire that is not aggressive to humans, he’s a good friend of Geralt in the lore.

Oh also one thing that’s gonna be kind of weird... while Geralt, Yen and Triss are all blessed with long lifespans which show little sign of aging, Jaskier aka Dandelion is not. Jaskier and Geralt parted ways in the show before the timelines caught up and we never saw him again, so he’s gonna be older and should appear older in the next seasons. By the time of Witcher 3 he is in his 40s although he still appears and acts super young. He also does the narration for Witcher 3 when he’s super old, as a retrospect.
And if anyone is wondering why I call him Dandelion, the story behind that is Jaskier is polish and the English translation is literally Buttercup (look for yourself if you want), the editors of the books when going from polish to English thought that name was too feminine so they choose Dandelion. In the games the excuse is mainly that his real full name is stupidly long so they use Dandelion as well. I think a couple times in the show he tried saying his full name but got cut off as a joke/ reference to anyone who knows why he’s never referred to by his real name in other material.

Don't think I am getting the game after all. I wanted to buy it on the PS store because it was only 15 euros... but then when I logged in it changed to 50 Euros... apparently the discount is not applied in the Dutch version of the store... Fuck geoblocking.

Looks like it's $15 on Xbox store for the next 3 days. Idk like I want it but I have no space. I'd have to delete Fallen Order as that's my least played currently installed game and I don't want to delete that so soon...

But when I log in it redirects me to the Dutch store and there is no discount there... on any of the Witcher 3 versions in the store. I assume the original discount was on the US/international store, but it does have the prices in Euros... If it happens to be from another EU country I should actually be able to demand the discount from Sony because the EU does not allow geoblocking anymore.

Hmm weird, it should be universally discounted if it’s on PS store. They don’t even charge GST.

This show seems pretty legit, I think it’s going to have a long lifespan. It is still #1 on IMDB with 169k ratings at this point with a steady 8.5. The Mandalorian has fallen to #3 (despite airing the finale after December 20th when Witcher season dropped). Although Mandalorian has a higher rating it has less votes (110k).

Well it was obviously a setup season (Witcher). But I think they did that fairly well. We’re gonna have a Geralt and Ciri heavy season 2 I believe. They could have followed the books and made the first stuff only Geralt if they wanted.

Just finished episode 5. It might be my favorite episode other than the premiere. I'm surprised they brought Geralt and Yennefer together this early, but I suppose these are the interactions we want to occur so more interesting things can happen later on.
I'm still adjusting to some of the character's names, which makes it a little tricky at some moments to see what is happening when in the overall timeline. Other than that though, I think it's really cool how the first season is managing to weave together the three main storylines.
I'm excited to see where the final few episodes take the plot. I just wish we didn't have to wait until 2021 for the next season.

Finished the season. Really enjoyed it. The final two episodes threw me for a loop at first given how the timelines worked, but I still liked them a lot. Geralt, Yen, and Ciri are cool trio to switch between, and I like that we have some other secondary characters we'll hopefully get to know more as the show continues.

Also, we'll be getting an animated film that ties into this show. It'll be called Nightmare of the Wolf, serve as a prequel, and focus on Vesemir. Should be interesting.

Yeah I saw that, probably just a one season kind of deal I’d imagine. Since Vesemir should in theory be featured heavily in season 2 for Ciris training and stuff

Honestly Mark would be great as Vesemir, he’s not a super actor but Vesemir is a Witcher so stiff emotion is something Hamill can do. Plus he can voice act well for the anime pre series

Kim Bodnia is going to be Vesemir. Mark Hamill would've been cool, but hopefully this actor can live up to the role.

I started watching this again. Honestly I think it was really well done. I think I definitely enjoyed it more the first time but it's still good. I really want to see season 2 and what's going on with Emhyr. Got damn I need more medieval fantasy type shows/movies like this. I really like some of the tropes from this genre such as the "return of the king" thing. Wish there was more modern stuff out there like it. Or maybe there is and I just don't know lol

Actually I think the dragon episode was the weakest lots of plot holes and things that don't make sense.. Like how would the Doppler not know Ciri's questions if he has Moussack's memories? Also Ciri abandoning Dara was kinda bad but then the Doppler going after Cahir didn't really make sense... Also why didn't they shoot Moussack or make him drink the waters? Also I thought the dragon stuff was weird and not explained well
And couldn't Yen just portal to the top of the mountain? Lol

I remember in Witcher 3 a Doppler impersonated Geralt, they could use his signs but they couldn’t fight worth a damn, didn’t inherit Geralts swordsmanship which would have a lot to do with memory.
