I'm honestly surprised that they all died... I know most people have expected that since the beginning, but I really didn't think they had the guts to kill off Jyn. It feels weird to see the heroes in a Star Wars film die like this... but it's refreshing at the same time. And that Vader slaughter scene... it was total fan service, but it was freaking amazing.

I see a lot of people saying Tarkin looked alright, but Leia looked bad. I think Leia looked better than Tarkin, but that's mainly because we saw her for a few seconds while Tarkin had multiple scenes. Guy Henry acted as Tarkin, so I assume he did the voice too, which was pretty good. Stephen Stanton does a better Tarkin voice in TCW and Rebels though, so I don't know why he didn't voice Tarkin. He actually voiced Admiral Raddus, so it's not like he wasn't working on the film already.
I thought the digital characters were good for what they were. Yeah they weren't perfect, but for the sake of the story Tarkin and Leia needed to be in this.

Things I liked Jyn wasn't as Mary Sue space Katniss as I thought she would be Digital characters for Red and Gold leader Everyone got killed (I was expecting it but still good) Ip-Man wasn't some hackneyed wise old man and he was just a crazy guy The Vader hallway HAMMERHEAD CRUISERSThey didn't pussy out in terms of the Prequels like TFA did, there was a Juggernaut and one of Jyn's flashbacks was on Coruscant and Vader's house is on Mustafar (Pablo Hidalgo confirmed that) Felicity Jones is hot Good mix of comedy and everyone getting killed Saw Gerrerra is still an asshole (I remember back when we were still on SW.com and we roasted that TCW episode arc lol) Cool guns Felicity Jones is hot Really nice space battle (anyone notice the Ghost? It was landed at Yavin and you could see it fighting.) Lots of callbacks to the OT without just being a rehash like TFA The entire third act being one really big battle Good continuity explaining how the death star was an inside job and why there were like 3 fighters only to kill the Death Star Bail Organa referencing Obi Wan Felicity Jones in a flight control outfit is hot No forced romance Meh things Tarkin looked a bit uncanny-valley The beginning jumped around a lot.Same issue with TFA, what's wrong with old aliens? All i remember is Ponda and a Twilek stripper hologram. No A-Wings James Earl Jones is getting kind of old and the voice shows Felicity Jones is hot
Overall a really good movie. It made me want to watch ANH as soon as I got home and I liked it more than TFA. Bravo Gareth Edwards. Did anyone get KOTOR vibes from the rock and beach world for Malachor and Rakata Prime , respectively?

I'm disappointed Moroff didn't have much screen time. He was only in the background for like 2 or 3 shots. He was my favorite new alien design and I was hoping he'd be in it a bit more.

One of the intercom announcements at the Yavin base also called for "General Syndulla". Chopper is apparently scene in the base too (but I missed this). So I think it's safe to assume it's at least Hera and Chopper piloting the Ghost during the Battle of Scarif.

Did anyone get any good reactions in their theater? Some guy audibly said "Oh shit" when Bodhi was in the shuttle and a grenade got tossed in. Also people going insane in general when Vader started to head down the hallway and when people realized the rebel soldiers were running to the Tantive IV.

As soon as the droid died I knew they would all die, no exceptions. But yeah, it was kind of interesting to see Star Wars turn that dark...

I think the movie was alright, definitely refreshing but I didn't enjoy it as much as earlier Star Wars movies... Probably because it was kind of its own thing. Also, there was not as much mystery surrounding it as TFA for example.
Anyway, I'm kind of sad Saw didn't reference TCW. And the Leia/Tarkin CGI looked a bit weird but still very impressive. Some of the planets look really cool. And I really like the droid. The rest of the main character were kind of meh...
But yeah, I have hope for future spin-off movies now. It's interesting to see something totally new in Star Wars. The main movies are too similar, I definitely look forward to seeing some more unique (and mature, like this one) spin-offs. I just hope the future ones will continue to have some ties to the main saga. I kind of liked all the references and characters from ANH having some cameos. Although the cameo from that cantina guy was a bid unnecessary. Too coincidental. The rest made sense.

Now I want a spin-off based on the Darth Plagueis novel that connects directly to TPM, just like this move connected to ANH.

Did anyone get any good reactions in their theater? Some guy audibly said "Oh Potato Rules" when Bodhi was in the shuttle and a grenade got tossed in. Also people going insane in general when Vader started to head down the hallway and when people realized the rebel soldiers were running to the Tantive IV. Everyone cheered at the Lucasfilm logo and end credits at my theater. The place got silent when Vader showed up with his lightsaber. Now I want a spin-off based on the Darth Plagueis novel that connects directly to TPM, just like this move connected to ANH. Yes please, that'd be amazing. It could even have some flashbacks with a young Palpatine. I've seen Tom HIddleston's name suggested and I think he'd be a great young Palpatine.

I think that the critics are being too hard on this film. I really enjoyed it. My main problem with it would be that the beginning was really rushed. I know they had to introduce a lot of new things, but it made it difficult to attach to some of the characters. This made some of them feel a little underdeveloped, and when they died at the end, it was not as emotional as it could have been. Still a really good film though, and the last ten minutes of it were perfect.

I just got back and I think it was amazing, as someone who saw the OT first and fell in love with those movies, I couldn't be more pleased with this one for the most part.
I am glad they all died, I mean I had been calling it from the start but it's refreshing to see the heroes die and not a) live or b) come back from the dead, I don't think any of these characters are coming back and they don't need too.
As for the characters themselves I enjoyed them, Baze and Chirrut where a nice duo, Cassian was probably my personal favorite and K2-SO was pure comic relief but in a very good way. Jyn Erso really surprised me, the trailers didn't do her justice at all, they took here like worst lines and stuff in the trailers, or bad takes or something idk but she was pretty awesome in the movie. And she was a much better character then Rey IMO, Rey was some know it all, Mary-Sue character, Jyn felt real.
Vader wasnt seen too much, but that scene at the very end was pure badass, fan service but definitely one of my favorites. I would have liked the Emperor to make one appearance, either by hologram or Vader visiting him on Coruscant or something. Tarkin was done quite well, Krennic was cool but wasn't too interesting IMO.
I really liked the variety in locations, so many planets in this one was nice to see, really shows how big the universe is. Scariff was super cool and I think it was kinda unique, we never really seen that tropical beach like planet before in any content.
Bunch of little stuff I liked, too the callout to Hera, Choppers little cameo on Yavin, the Ghost. Also Red Five dying was a cool one, opens up Luke's spot. Liked the CGI pilots, seeing Wedge or Biggs would have been nice though.

Coruscant was in the movie too though, easy to miss but the planet in the flashback with Galen in his imperial grey uniform and Krennic is Coruscant.

Also there's a rumored connection between Rouge One and Episode 8 next year, I think the most likely connection is Vaders castle on Mustafar. Kylo Ren would probably use that as his training ground or something.
Luke could be interested in it

Vader castle on Mustafar was cool, I guess he choose that place for his strong emotional feelings That might have been one of the biggest surprises for me. I was never expecting to see his castle... and the fact that it was on Mustafar was even cooler. I agree that we might see Kylo Ren using it in the Sequel Trilogy.

The scene I disliked the most was probably the mind reading tentacle monster... what was the point of that? If you took that scene out then nothing in the film would have changed.

They made his castle look similar to the EU one as well but that was on Vjun. Cool that they used Mustafar, but that planet is also being used a lot now. Clone Wars, Books, Rebels... its supposed to be just a remote mining world. It was a cool shot flying into the castle, looked different then ROTS Mustafar

It was probably meant to show Saws insanity at this point, his distrust. But he was only around for like 20 minutes, he wasn't too relevant

Luke could be interested in it I'm pretty sure that a rumor about Snoke training Kylo Ren at Vader's Castle in Episode 8 was circulating back in the spring. I think there was also the possibility that Luke would confront Kylo there or be shown at Vader's Castle in flashbacks. Whatever the case, seeing Vader's Castle would be awesome for Episode VIII.

img style="max-width:100%;" alt="OC do not steal" src="https://i.imgur.com/o9xwzGl.png" my OC do not steal I loved Admiral Raddus... I was expecting him just to be in the background for a few shots, so the size of his role surprised me. I think I like him better than Ackbar, actually. Hopefully he survived!
