That was a really good episode! I Loved it. Had some great lines too. Wish Kuvira spilt some blood though But honestly... Toph... she is still the same. She was the star of this episode. Reminded me of Yoda with Luke on Dagobah but obviously Toph is better than Yoda. And Korra is way better than cry baby Luke Skywalker.

Saw this on a site. Shows how deep this show actually is....
LOK Political views.
President Raiko is a Democratic Republican.
Amon is a socialist, or a nationalist depending on how you look at it. He advocates bringing everyone to an equal playing field by redistributing power.
Unalaq wanted to set up a theocracy with himself as the God, hes one of the most crazed villians.
Zaheer represents anarchy. He believes a world with no law is the only world that can truly be free.
The Earth Queen is obviously a representation of a monarchy. She rules the earth kingdom accumulating vast wealth for herself, her rule is unquestioned because it is her birthright.
Kuvira is a fascist. She believes everyone should be equal, but under the rule of the Earth Kingdom, and she will use her army of dedicated followers and people she has conquered to make it that way.

Yes this is the way I looked at it too. But I don't see how Amon is a nationalist? But yeah he's probably based on communism/socialism. But in a certain way he represents Stalinism. He claims he wants to make everyone equal, but he will still be better than others (since he'll still have his powers). Still, he wasn't really violent and his intentions were good. And fascists don't believe everyone should be equal. But they believe military leaders should have much power (like Kuvira) and that military power is important.

Also I read during that comic con the creators said this season was supposed have a SW look to it. Kuvira's soldiers concept art is based on earlier designs of stormtroopers. And there are some parallels to SW. But obviously Kuvira's men are far better at their job than stormtroopers.....

Kuvira's takeover speech "I learned that the idea of a royal family passing the title from one generation to the next was archaic. Technology and innovation should be what drives the nation forward. It was the pathetic rule of kings and queens that caused the Earth Kingdom to crumble into such incredible disarray. There is no way I will allow it to slip back in the dark ages I'd like to make an announcement to the world Earth Kingdom is no more. I have created a new Earth Empire and I will continue to lead it into the future myself!" Zaheer's takeover speech "We are apart of a secret society dedicated to restoring freedom to the world. We are the Red Lotus.... We are what the White Lotus was meant to be. But after the Hundred Year War, the White Lotus lost its true purpose. Its members came out of hiding and openly served the Avatar. They became nothing but glorified bodyguards serving corrupt nations. So a great man named Xai Bau broke from the White Lotus and began his own society... All I wanted was to show the Avatar a better path for the world.... I want what you want. To restore balance to this world. The idea of having nations and government is as foolish as keeping the human and spirit realms separate. You had to deal with the monarchic president and a tyrannical queen. Don't you think the world would be better off if leaders like them were eliminated. It wasn't too long ago that the Air Benders were all wiped out because of the Fire Lord's desire for world dominance. True freedom can only be achieved when a present government is torn down. The natural order is disorder. New growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old. You must realize once change begins it cannot be stopped." Amon's takeover speech "I believe I have your attention, benders of Republic City. So once again, the Wolfbats are your pro-bending champions. It seems fitting that you celebrate three bullies who cheated their way to victory because every day, you threaten and abuse your fellow non-bending citizens just like the Wolfbats did to their opponents tonight. Those men were supposedly the best in the bending world and yet it only took a few moments for me to cleanse them of their impurity. Let this be a warning to all of you benders out there: if any of you stand in my way, you will meet the same fate. Now, to my followers: for years the Equalists have been forced to hide in the shadows, but now we have the numbers and the strength to create a new Republic City. I'm happy to tell you that the time for change has finally come. Very soon, the current tyrannical bending regime will be replaced by a fair-minded Equalist government. You and your children will no longer have to walk the streets afraid! It's time to take back our city. For centuries, benders have possessed an unnatural advantage over ordinary people. But thankfully, modern technology has provided us with a way to even out the playing field. Now anyone can hold the power of a chi-blocker in their hand. My followers and I will not rest until the entire city achieves equality, and once that goal is achieved, we will equalize the rest of the world. The revolution has begun!" Kuvira may have more speeches. But I choose Zaheer's speech It's more philosophical and mature. I love all three but Zaheer is partially correct. Well actually all of them are correct in some ways. Too bad Unaalaq didn't have a badass speech... And iconic short quotes by them - Kuvira - "I always get what I want". Amon - "I am the solution". Zaheer - "You think freedom is something you can give or take on a whim. But to your people freedom is just as essential as... Air. And without it there is no life... There is only... Darkness"

But I don't like how Korra fails to solve the problems these "villains" came up with. Okay, she did open the spirit portal like Unalaq wanted. But what about the tyrannical regimes in the world? Or the inferiority feeling that non-benders have. Just look at how many people followed Amon, there are some serious problems there...

I'd say Zaheer > Amon > Kuvira > Unalaq They all have their positives and then their negatives (Not counting Unalaq) but with Zaheer, like him, I don't really like the idea of government. Of course without it we would be in chaos but I don't like being restricted to corrupts government. And being bossed by higher supreme human beings. I would've killed Raiko and the Queen yeah.... But I wouldn't want a total anarchy. And with Amon I agree that there needs to be Equality but not communism equality. I agree that there needs equality but there also need to be justice. Kuvira I get that she doesn't want monarchy and doesn't want a phony king ruling the Earth Kingdom but I'm afraid of how she would run it... and what her intentions are. And I think we didn't get an Amon solution like Korra didn't fix the problems was because they didn't know there would be a Book 2. And the Book 3 problems are sort of being solved by someoneelse.

Just like the European empires during the early modern times he wants to spread his ideas, culture and technology to the rest of the world. Sozin even said that he wanted to share his prosperity with the other nations. Just like the European imperialist nations back in the day wanted to spread their "advanced" culture and technology to the "barbaric" areas in the world.

I guess they just wanted complete control and that's their way of spreading prosperity.

He only wiped out the air nomads because he wanted to find the avatar and capture/kill him before he became a threat. I never understood what took Sozin so long. After Roku's death he could start his invasion of the Air nation... but 12 years later (when Aang got into that iceberg) he still didn't start his attack.

He didn't beat Tenzin. He would have lost if the rest of the Red Lotus didn't help him. Tenzin almost defeated him but then P'li joined the fight. Amon was pretty cool, but his backstory, while good, was disappointing with the huge expectations I and many other people had. Regardless, he was the villain with the most legit ideals and points of view, and he didn't really murder or seriously injure people. And yeah, he looked scary, and awesome.

"These are two forms of media that could have done extremely well with the brilliant, element-bending universe of The Last Airbender, but the property was butchered into something unrecognizable not once, but twice now.
The saddest part of all of this is that the show’s own masters, Nickelodeon, are abusing the one aspect of the universe that’s actually still good, the show itself. Even after The Last Airbender was beloved and successful enough to spawn Korra, Nickelodeon pulled it off the air midway through the third season. Then, they decided to air the fourth season almost immediately after, but only streaming online.
Fans are still trying to figure out what the hell is going on, with the common thought that a combination of (relatively) low ratings and themes too mature for the channel have caused it simply not to fit into their line-up. That does make some amount of sense. The Legend of Korra is a very “adult” show, not in terms of violence or sex, but rather its actual maturity level. With that said, it is still bizarre that a network that has 24 hours of airtime every day can’t find twenty minutes a week to air a show better than most live action dramas on TV today.
All of this is just profoundly sad, and it’s a tragedy how one of the most innovative, creative universes filled with rich, interesting characters has missed so many opportunities to expand into other forms of media effectively, and now the show itself is under attack by the channel that birthed it in the first place.
I won’t be playing The Legend of Korra to completion, as I don’t need that series tainted like The Last Airbender movie marred the original Avatar. There’s no word on where the series will go after Korra wraps, but hopefully Nickelodeon’s mismanagement won’t mean the universe is dead forever. There absolutely could be more sequel series, actually good film adaptations and amazing video games in The Last Airbender’s future, but the brand has been dragged through the mud for years now, and hopefully it’s not permanently crippled as a result."

Part of the same rant/review/complaint. "The same is true to some extent for The Legend of Korra, the sequel series to the original Avatar: The Last Airbender that fast-forwards a few decades into the future, creating a mostly new cast and storylines within the same universe. Again, it’s one of the best shows airing now, animated or otherwise."
LOK Is one of the best shows. I wish Nickelodeon would just wake up and see this.

This season could become the best. This was another good episode. I like how Toph basically said Amon, Unalaq and Zaheer were right to some extended but they were just too extremist. Really, I like Toph better in Legend of Korra than I did in Last Airbender. Too bad this was probably the last we'll see of her.

I really liked this one. Once again Toph is the star of the show. She really is amazing. (The creators said you would see much more of her later on) I wish she talked more about her kids though, or who she married. But I thought Jinora was pretty obnoxious. Ikki is my favorite out of the kids, actually smart. But I loved the scenes with Korra. She really has improved and grown to be quite a complex emotional character.
So far:
Three Years Later - 9/10 Good episode to start season off Korra Alone - 10/10 maybe 11/10 favorite episode ever The Coronation - 8.5/10 Loved the political side of it The Calling- 8/10 Wanted more of Korra and Toph. Little less of the threesome siblings.
I was really hoping Toph would say "If you really want to face your fears. Speak to Zaheer" Like confront him. Maybe talk to him. I just really love Zaheer and it would be cool if she faced him again and spoke with him. Maybe he was just crazy, and he's more sane now after losing all his friends.

Damn the new clip.... so epic. Literally going to be World War II. Kuvira's technology wow. Her tanks look so bad ass. And her army is large as hell. Poor Suyin She's going to lose everything, she all ready lost Kuvira, Aiwey, and her son. And United Forces are going to fight them most likely. But Kuvira doesn't want to use force which is good.
