The special has 100% from critics and 16% from audiences... That’s gotta be some kinda record. Between this and Last Jedi, the disparity between critics and audiences over sci-fi widens...

I don't doubt that Series 11 is rated the lowest of the series by fans (similarly to The Last Jedi), but the gaps on fan sites like Rotten Tomatoes can be pretty deceiving. It's really not that high, a lot of it's the same people using bots to cast duplicate votes... it's almost as bad as IMDB letting people rate things before they even come out. Again, I'm sure the Audience rating is fairly low, but it's not as low as is being shown.

Just heard they destroyed Gallifrey again and thought that was really fucking stupid. Also they brought back the Master who is South Asian and evil as shit again. Stuff like this is why it's hard to care about this show.

Been rewatching Series 1. Crazy how much this has aged. Still has a nice charm to it though.

Rose: 5/10 The End of the World: 6/10 The Unquiet Dead: 7/10 Aliens of London: 6.5/10 World War Three: 7/10 Dalek: 8/10 The Long Game: 5/10 Father's Day: 9/10 The Empty Child: 7.5/10 The Doctor Dances: 8.5/10 Boom Town: 6.5/10 Bad Wolf: 7/10 The Parting of the Ways: 9/10
Season 1 Average: 7.08/10.00
So this was my first time just sitting down and rewatching Season 1 since 2013. Honestly when I started I was like "damn this didn't age well" and wasn't sure if I even wanted to sit through it. But I think it really hit its stride about halfway through. I don't know if that was just me getting used to it, but I thought the first few episodes looked pretty shit but it wasn't too bad after that.
The writing honestly is pretty lame in places. There was enough that kind of made me cringe. I didn't find the Slitheen episodes to be all that bad. Like I remember calling "Boom Town" my least favorite episode but watching it now I enjoyed it quite a bit. The pacing was quite good and it had some nice quiet moments. It was nice seeing all these characters just take a bit of a breather and it was the only time we get to see the Doctor, Rose, Jack, and Mickey together.
Nine and Rose are really great together and their charm is enough to carry an episode when the writing is off. I really like Jack in Season 1 as well. It's kinda disappointing how short his tenure is.
But anyway yeah, this series is low key kinda weak at the beginning but it finds its footing halfway through and comes together nicely by the end.

Last fifteen minutes of Christmas Invasion are great, because of Tennant. The rest is a pretty lame slog. I thought Mickey gave up in Rose so I’m not sure why he became such a cuck again. The pilot fish are lame. I’m not sure how Harriet Jones has the TARDIS translate for her when she was never in it. I like the song that plays when Ten chooses his coat.
7/10

Thinking about this show, I'm really sad what it has evolved into. I absolutely adored it a few years ago I think it was one of my favorite shows too. It was some good shit that filled my craving for sci fi stuff
Might have to do a rewatch and then catch up on the new season(s?) to see what the current story is. First seasons are kind of a slog though I think and the 2000s aesthetic is crazy lol

No interest in watching it. I get that Doctor Who has always had wonky continuity but they just don’t care anymore. There are massive things about the show which no longer make sense. For me the show only has ten seasons.

Also I’ve seen enough clips to say I really don’t like Jodie Whitaker’s take on the Doctor. She uses like a really dumb tone to say all of her lines and faces that say look at me, look how quirky I am! There’s no gravity in her at all.

Season 2 Average: 6.27/10.00
Mixed feelings about this season. A lot of great episodes but there’s more than one that feel like the most half assed I’ve ever seen in Doctor Who. Like embarrassingly bad. And hard to sit through.
Still though I liked it better than when I first watched it. I appreciated School Reunion and The Girl in the Fireplace a lot more this time around. When I first saw Season 2, I hadn’t quite warmed to Tennant but of course now I really like his portrayal.
Still though I don’t really like 10 and Rose together. Not awful but there’s nothing interesting there. They don’t really push each other. They act so much like boyfriend and girlfriend and that’s one of the most boring dynamics in Doctor Who.
Like the ending but I can’t help but call it a little over dramatic. Like I get it but it’s low key kinda cringe.

Okay I know I said how embarrassing some of these episodes were, but I’ll qualify that by saying I don’t think there’s anything harmful or problematic really about them.
It’s not like the shit they have now where they write entire episodes for woke points and just spread really bad messages. That kind of stuff would get a 0/10 from me.
Instead it feels like they just kinda ran out of time or had too many resources allocated to the two parters.

10 is instantly better once Rose is gone IMO. That might just be me but his personality feels a lot more layered now. Runaway Bride is a weird one. I like Tennant more here but not much of else is very good. Donna is pretty annoying here. She and 10 do get some good moments, especially at the end. It’s not the best but eh I enjoyed it.
6/10.

I miss the epic feel the show had with stuff like, oncoming storm and the last of the time lords/Gallifrey arc and whatnot. RTD was really good at that sort of writing

Smith and Jones: 7/10 The Shakespeare Code: 5.5/10 Gridlock: 6/10 Daleks in Manhatten: 6/10 Evolution of the Daleks: 7.5/10 The Lazarus Experiment: 4/10 42: 6.5/10 Human Nature: 8/10 Family of Blood: 9.5/10 Blink: 7.5/10 Utopia: 9/10 The Sound of Drums: 7/10 Last of the Time Lords: 5/10
Season 3 Average: 6.81/10.00
Season 3 is another mixed season. The first half I think is quite weak but the second half is a great run of episodes. Kinda reminds me of TCW Season 3. One difference though is that the finale falters quite a bit. Maybe it's just me but the fashion in which the Master is defeated is just really weak and feels like they couldn't come up with a way to end it. The Master's "death" though saves it from being a complete loss.
I like 10 a lot more here. He feels a lot more layered, not so overly-cheery. I like Martha as well but their dynamic is a bit weird. Like I said in Season 2 that I'd like there to be a less conventional relationship between the Doctor and companion but this isn't exactly what I had in mind. The whole un-requited love thing just feels really weird in this show and I kind of groan every time it comes up. Like it feels like they bring up Rose every other episode as if they want us to compare them.
The 1913 two-parter is one of my absolute favorite stories in the show, and might be my favorite two-parter. I think Blink has always been a bit overrated though it's still a great episode. But the best of all time? The episode newcomers should start with? No. Never got that sentiment.
An improvement over Season 2 but the finale leaves a bad taste.

I don't remember blink much but I think I found it to be overrated as well. Isn't the Doctor barely in it Yeah. And it works for the story. But IMO it feels more like a Supernatural episode. I’ve seen people say that people should watch that episode first to see if they would like the show. And I don’t get that at all. Like if you watched that episode first you’d probably get the wrong idea of what Doctor Who is normally like.

Partners in Crime: 6.5/10 The Fires of Pompeii: 8/10 Planet of the Ood: 6/10 The Sontaran Stratagem: 7/10 The Poison Sky: 8/10 The Doctor's Daughter: 6.5/10 The Unicorn and the Wasp: 6/10 Silence in the Library: 8/10 Forests of the Dead: 9/10 Midnight: 9.5/10 Turn Left: 8/10 The Stolen Earth: 9/10 Journey's End: 8/10
Season 4 Average: 7.65/10.00
Certainly the best season so far. Might be the best of all ten seasons. IDK. Tennant had a rough start IMO but the quality of his stories jumped by a huge degree in the second half of his run. Donna and Ten have a great dynamic and it's refreshing not to have one of them swooning over the other. Ten is at his best here and this is the season where he finally eclipsed Nine for me.
Production quality felt great here. No it's not like a movie or something but there's not many holes in it. I guess Season 3 was a lot better in terms of that too but I just noticed here how far the show has come. And even then, it doesn't always need it. I'm not sure what everyone else thinks but Midnight is a top tier episode for me.
I think though that the finale falters a bit. It's still good but there's way too much time spent on people just kinda standing around. I think Rose was really underused and that's disappointing. You could probably cut her out of the episode and it wouldn't make much of a difference. The stuff with Donna at the end is great but there isn't a whole lot else I love.
I wish the finale were better but that doesn't take away from how great Season 4 is.
