What i don't understand. Why do they teach you english if you speak it everyday? Isn't that like pointless and useless? Same reason they teach us Dutch... Yeah did not think about that. But okay back to the Pinda-Panel now.

Unfortunately for me, Dutch and Math are two of the three mandatory subjects you get in every year of every school... (the third is English, which I don't mind.)

We have mandatory Computers and Religion as I go to a catholic school but those are not mandatory in grade 11 anymore.

We have mandatory Computers and Religion as I go to a catholic school but those are not mandatory in grade 11 anymore. We have English as a mandatory subject because almost no one speaks Dutch outside the Netherlands and Belgium, and since we are really focused on trade with other countries we need to speak at least a bit of English. At VWO (highest secondary school level) you have to choose at least one more language, I could only choose between German and French since I didn't choose to follow Latin and Spanish during the first years. And we luckily don't have a religion subject here. We have something similar to philosophy which includes religions sometimes.

Well I also think a reason we don't need necessarily need to learn French or Spanish is because Canada and America are both 2 of the biggest countries in the world with the majority speaking English anyways so it's not like you really need to learn more languages here unless you go over to Europe or something.

Last year it was all Economics, Politics and other government crap. Well here it's really just history. But I don't like it as much as I used to. They now want us to study the names of paragraphs and capitals of our history book (of which there are like 40 and they're all 2-3 sentences) and I have to write them down exactly the way they were on my test when I see a picture that relates to the subject of that paragraph... which is total nonsense, before it was about connecting historical events.

That's a bad history class. Grade 8 and grade 6 was good history we learned about Aztecs, Ancient Greece, early Japan and Renaissance(mostly Italy)

Like I said, most people speak English here. I've had English lessons since I was 6 (although that was mostly singing English songs and I had no idea what the text meant), I think most people get at least 6 years of English lessons here. I learned most from the Internet though, most games and sites don't get translated in Dutch. And yes, you could buy some peanuts. And maybe you could also buy Kaas (cheese)...
