Made one of those last year, but I enjoyed following it a year ago. Mostly liked the Hayden and Ewan stuff that was leading into Kenobi the best. This year probably won’t be as eventful. However, I remember Maverick-Jedi-Valen said he was going with his brother. So would love to hear about it as well.

Honestly that looks pretty good. Looks like Adult Rebels pretty much. And we get to see a little bit of Thrawn. I’m wondering who all these lightsaber guys are? I think they might be some kind of cult. Maybe even an early variation of the Knights of Ren? I know in the old EU post ROTJ there was a cult of force users called the cult of Marka Ragnos, might be an adaptation of that. Ezra probably related to them somehow.
It’s coming out in August… earlier then I expected. But hype will be high after Jedi Survivor I think.

I think the games segment is usually on day 2, maybe 3. That’s usually what I’m more excited for. Want to see the progress on Eclipse and the Ubisoft game. Don’t really care though if they make it about Jedi Survivor, we know enough already.

Ahsoka trailer looks really good. Kind of crazy seeing so many Rebels characters in live action and that Thrawn tease was fantastic. It looks like they might be adapting the epilogue of Rebels too, we see Ahsoka's ship arriving on Lothal as Sabine stands on the tower overlooking the Capital City.
Happy that it's coming in August, I thought we might not see this series until November. There's a lot to look forward to with this.

I'm really confused about the Favreau rumors because I heard that the word is "he doesn't give a shit anymore" but like what does that mean lol. I don't think he's leaving but maybe he just doesn't care about putting in as much effort since he didn't get the creative control he wanted and is just doing silly stuff that's fun for him? Idk ultimately maybe there's no story and his writing quality has just dipped

But Sabine looks cool I think I'll like that actor. That blonde girl is also interesting. Very curious about those lightsaber wielders. Damn it yeah I have to admit I'm mildly interested as much I want to keep hating on Disney lol. But still not really hyped though because they're still doing stupid stuff. Maybe if they announced KK's departure here, that would be the real celebration...

But yeah, mixed results with the announcements. Mangold's film about dawn of the Jedi sounds very promising, but Dave's film doesn't excite me at all (just sounds like another movie trying to set up the ST and make their events vaguely plausible by bashing over the head again about how the NR sucks). Also that Rey film is just a recipe for disaster. Cannot believe they actually think that's an idea most crowds will go for lol. Above all else though, how likely is stuff getting made? I mean, vast amounts of films are in the can. Taika's film, Johnson's trilogy, D&D's films, Feige's film, Rogue Squadron, it's all popped up only to fade away. So for now, I'm just going to assume this stuff goes through the usual development hell and disappears Ahsoka trailer had my attention though. However, given the big plot details about Thrawn and that stuff, I keep thinking it weird people like Luke, Leia and the usual gang aren't involved at all. At this point I really wouldn't hate them if they bit the bullet and recast the OT guys to get them in the story. No more of the robotic deepfake Luke in BOBF.

People don't want more sequels. This would be the equivalent of making a Jar Jar movie when the hate for that character was at its all time high. I have no thoughts on Dawn of the Jedi, I will just assume it's bad and lore breaking because that's what most of it is now lol. Filoni's movie is probably going to be the cinematic endgame for the Mandoverse that has been long rumored. But the Mandoverse is a mess now with Rangers cancelled, Gina fired, BOBF and Mando 3 being what they are. Assuming they originally had a somewhat decent vision, I just don't think they can any longer build up that endgame. The potential has been lost. It probably won't be as satisfying as we, or at least I thought it could be. But maybe it doesn't matter it was likely always going to be a watered down version of Thrawn trilogy that does a disservice to the OT characters. Speaking of, I saw rumors of a new show centered around a deepfaked OT gang... Not sure if that will be a thing. I don't mind the deepfaking personally, the problem is they just cannot write those characters

Well trying to be at least a little positive, I am looking forward to day 2. Only because that's when the Hasbro panel is. The Hasbro figures (and Jedi Survivor) are hard carrying Star Wars for me right now lol.
Rumor is they are going to announce a Haslab Ghost from Rebels. Idk if you guys are familiar with that but once in a while they do crowd fund campaigns to make some big piece that they could not otherwise sell at retail. They've done the Sail Barge and Mando's Razor Crest previously. I think the Ghost would be cool. I have the Lego set which has apparently shot up in value. But I think a leak about a remake of the Lego set came out recently.
There was also a leak about a UCS Venator. That would be sick. I don't get lego anymore but idk that could be a really cool display piece. Though $600-700 is too much. I'd rather spend that on something else. Does lego have a panel at this?

I suspect Dave's is like an Avengers film for the shows, but I feel like if it is a Thrawn trilogy adaptation I'll wind up finding the source material infinitely better once I read the books lol So far it's been a mess with them involved, so may be so lol Before this whole tv show stuff started I always thought it wasn't a bad idea to have an animated show like TCW but it's based after ROTJ and follows Luke and the gang through various arcs. Might sound an overly safe move, but it sounds more promising than what these films are giving us Assuming they get made

I wouldn’t mind the OT being recast. Sebastian Stan as Luke, you could probably just use Alden from Solo as Han again and make him look older. Same with Glover tbh for Lando. Not sure who for Leia but it’s not like there’s a shortage of generic looking brunette actresses lol. No offense to Carrie Fisher.
Sounds like Dave Filoni film is a movie set to bring the Mandoverse together in a build conflict.

Well that's good, they really didn't need to get anyone else since he did the voice and is a capable actor. Not sure about the book adaptation stuff. A lot of people disliked his Rebels portrayal because it wasn't as good as the books. Having read the books after Rebels I thought it was fine tbh, couldn't really point out many flaws with the Rebels character. Believe they even consulted Zahn during it. A shot from the footage leaked and it looks like he has pupils though. I think they gave him pupils in Rebels to be less creepy for kids but the live action may have been another decision to make him more expressive or something. But idk I think no pupils would've been better. It would be more frightening/intimidating to see him tell off an officer or something while staring with those blank eyes Also David Tennant coming back to play Huyyang is pretty damn cool Is there a reason for Huyang to be here? I don't remember him being in Rebels. Actually didn't he get destroyed in TCW? Don't really remember that arc though I know he lost his arms at least. Also where did Ahsoka even find a clean Jedi shuttle this long after the Republic era lol. I think it would actually be cool if majority of the show is in space on board ships. Like they leave Lothal and join a NR convoy to go to the "New Beyond" region that has been mentioned but encounter threats along the way.

Tales of the Jedi season 2 announced. I'm literally just expecting more Luke and Grogu and Rey's new Jedi because fuck me I was hoping for tales of the Sith with the ideas I pitched in the Tales of the Jedi thread. Sidious retrieves Maul from Dathomir, Followup to the Yaddle fight, Dooku recruits Jango, Dooku meets Ventress, etc. Idk about more Jedi content. I honestly don’t want it in TCW era though. We’ve seen enough and the Dooku/ Qui-Gon episodes were good for the world building. Kenobi and Anakin between Episode 1 and 2 would be ok. Honestly they could easily do a Qui-Gon focus this time. Jinn and Kenobi adventure or what about Qui-Gon doing his intial trials for the force ghost?

I don’t think there’s a reason per say but I don’t think Huyang is really a bad addition to the lineup. He’s interesting enough personality wise and it’s not like he’s had much representation. Honestly could be an interesting story there considering if he was on a voyage with kids at the time of Order 66 they would have been isolated from the events of order 66. I think Ahsoka has had that Jedi shuttle for awhile? Wasn’t it featured at the last episode in Rebels with the teaser for the post ROTJ stuff? I thought she acquired it in the novelization for her and they just never showed it in Rebels. Probably budget constraints or just wasn’t needed

Okay, went to celebration yesterday and had a really good time, so bullet point time! -Cosplay was amazing, my brother got a pictures with a couple Georges lol. There were tons of cool Mandalorians. One was even a Tusken hybrid. -A guy dressed as Durge from Clone Wars which was awesome -My brother now wants to cosplay as Anakin at conventions like these because he noticed a lot of pretty girls cosplayed as Padme lol -Life size pieces from the films like the AT-ST, the tauntaun, etc. -There was even a Buzz Lightyear themed clone trooper -An interview with Denis Lawson revealed a couple interesting insights. They originally asked him for five days of shooting for an appearance in TROS, but he had a commitment to a play so could only do one day of shooting, hence his blink and you miss it cameo. -Other fascinating detail is that he knows Ian Mcdiarmid. They met in their youth when auditioning for a drama school in Aberdeen. They said their goodbyes with Lawson thinking he'd never see him again. Instead, they not only both got accepted but they also bunked together in flats during their early careers as actors. Had no idea about that -Billy Dee Williams had his 86th birthday and had happy birthday sang to I'm by the crowd. -Ming Na-Wen looking more like a huge fan who wound up on stage than someone who starred in a Star Wars show which is quite wholesome. -Saw Acolyte trailer. Despite my reservations about Headlund, the trailer looked fairly promising. Still, we'll see if it lives up to it. -Didn't buy anything as this was too corporate a convention to have anything affordable

Bad Batch 3 confirmed to be the final season. So excited to see them make Snoke... I'm actually wondering if for the first time I will not watch Star Wars content as soon as it releases with Andor 2 and Bad Batch 3... Nah I don't think I could resist lol. I wish I could unsub from D+ though. I thought there was finally a chance because I thought Ahsoka was coming in fall/winter but it's only a couple months away which doesn't feel worth canceling then resubscribing immediately

I think all but Echo and Omega is likely. I wanted to see Boba and Omega interact but I doubt that will happen. That would be crazy if they pulled a Rogue One and killed all of them. Maybe they want to explain why we don't see them later. I actually thought none of them would die so Tech's death was unexpected and that means they're all fair game now

Visions 2 trailer. Um none of it looks good lol. I think I liked 2 or 3 episodes from volume 1 and thought the rest were dumb. It doesn't count as Star Wars to me so yeah not exactly looking forward to this.
Honestly I think this is a waste of time and resources. What is the point of being under the Star Wars brand if it doesn't fit in the Star Wars universe? If it was its own thing it might feel unique and creative but attached to the Star Wars IP it just feels weird and confusing

Celebration 2025 will be in Japan. That's pretty cool. But what about 2024? Aren't they every year?
Overall thoughts on this, I think it was about the same as how it usually is. I think showing trailers for Acolyte and/or Skeleton Crew would've made it better. But man it is crazy how much of a bad place Star Wars is in, at least imo.
They're desperately trying to rush out a film which is about god damn Rey. The Mandoverse is in shambles apart from maybe Ahsoka. And still no overall vision for the brand apart from throwing out a bunch of random stuff and hoping something sticks. At this point I don't think there is anything that could possibly save the franchise in my eyes. But I guess I would at least like to see how they run it under someone other than Kathleen Kennedy. Pretty sure her contract was supposed to end this year...

Pretty sure her contract was supposed to end this year... Interesting location choice, but that does make it exceptionally expensive for anyone who's not Japanese lol I've always suspected that it's run too much by committee. The "LucasFilm story group" just sounds like such a recipe to make sure no decisive choices which causes this huge load of stalling. I'm assuming Dave and Jon are kinda in their own bubble, hence being able to actually make stuff for better or worse lol What I'd do is perhaps keep an eye out for filmmakers that fit more into the George Lucas mould and trust them into making projects without that trial by committee. Another option is give up on creating original content and just adapt the stuff that went down well previously. Adapt the Plagueis novel, the Tales of the Jedi comics, create a grand epic from the Mandalorian Wars. It would be adapting previous works, sure but we know they were positively received so why not go for what's basically a safe business decision?
