Episode 1: 7/10 Episode 2: 5/10 Episode 3: 8/10 Episode 4: 7/10 Episode 5: 6/10 Episode 6: 9/10 Episode 7: 7/10
Continuing from my mid season ratings, I stand by my earlier rankings.
Episode 8: 8/10 Episode 9: 8/10 Episode 10: 9/10 (closest one to a 10 tbh) Episode 11: 6/10 Episode 12: 9/10
74%, I’m gonna go up to an 8/10 though. I strongly feel like this was the wrong release format, weekly episodes felt slow and some episodes really just did not have the steam behind them to be super interesting on their own, however when put into these little story arcs those weaker episodes become a bit stronger. Similar to TCW at times I guess. So now that we see how the story has shaped together and all the little Ferrix things mattered in the end thst is more my reasoning for rounding the score post release.
Quite clear the ending of each arc is by far the best episodes. Prison arc was the most interesting and those were some of the best new Star Wars characters (development wise) we have seen in live action. Show is definitely a lot different from Mando though. The HBO type drama vs Mandos Western is alot different. Mando doesn’t have this character development but Mando is so fun, I have given numerous 10/10 in thst show. I honestly think the Kryat Dragon episode and scenes are still the best Live Action Star Wars TV to date.

I just can’t really get over the difference in shows. The characters are so good in Andor… yet I still think Cobb Vanth is better then any original character in Andor minus Luthen. Idk Mando makes these really badass characters and Andor I guess makes realistic characters.

So judging from the viewpoints, it's agreed upon it's very well made somewhat? I do feel disappointed it's so human centric though. I much prefer it when they lean further into the alien quirky weirdness of Star Wars as otherwise it can seem too sterile. Really though, before even watching it I'm really getting bored of the Empire era they keep making content for. Just feels like it's been mined out to hell and back. Which leads to me ask another question, if they did a film and/or series based before the saga, what time period should it be? Judging from Obi's views, I'm guessing anything High Republic is not on his list lol I get what Gilroy is going for like it's supposed to be some serious and emotional thing about the human condition or whatever and putting prominent alien characters could make that harder to do. Like I kinda get it. I was imagining what it would be like if any of the cast was replaced by an alien and I think that would make it somewhat harder to take seriously. But like ultimately that's what Star Wars is... so idk I disagree with Gilroy on that Honestly for me I will never get tired of the 1-6 timeline. I feel like there is a large variety of stories you can tell in those eras but yeah I guess eventually you might run into some restrictions. If the sequels never happened, I'd actually be a lot more interested in seeing content after the saga than before it. Post ROTJ feels like a clean slate where anything can happen. EU had a lot of cool ideas but unfortunately in canon it's all screwed up so unlikely we'll get anything good out of it now. Pre TPM is a little less interesting to me. Like I never got into the KOTOR stuff for some reason but maybe if it was made as a show/movie I could get behind it. But you're right I don't want any High Republic stuff lol. I love that no one is engaging with HR like they keep posting articles about it and no one cares lol. It's not even like watered down KOTOR really, it seems like a blank canvas for them to dump all of their agendas and progressive ideals onto. The HR people have a creepy obsession with inserting sex positivity everywhere and I think that does not have a place in Star Wars. I'm hoping Acolyte is not like that but I guess we'll see I agree the 1-6 era is great. I would love a show between episode 5 and 6 though. Honestly I do not understand why we don’t have a animated OT show yet in the style of TCW. Idk why it’s only being left to TCW. Could easily use all the OG characters in animation. Episode 1-2 is largely unexplored as well. Why I proposed my Tales of the Sith idea around that.

So can we probably assume Dedra isn’t the main season 2 villain now? I’m thinking she’s gone by episode 6 or 7. Hoping Krennic comes in given the post credit scene it’s his Death Star construction timeline being threatened with some of the events of Andor, not in a major capacity but it’s delaying it which we know the Emperor wasn’t happy with. Season 1 didn't really have a main villain did it? I'm not sure season 2 will either. I don't think it even can because I think it's supposed to have time jumps between each arc. I guess it's basically the Empire as a whole is the antagonist and we are seeing perspectives from low level people on all sides. The creators/actors have mentioned how the show is a commentary on the Trump administration... Wonder if that means we'll see moments of Palpatine = Trump lol. I just can’t really get over the difference in shows. The characters are so good in Andor… yet I still think Cobb Vanth is better then any original character in Andor minus Luthen. Idk Mando makes these really badass characters and Andor I guess makes realistic characters. Yeah I think you nailed it. Andor characters feel more human and real. In other Star Wars there's more heroes or they have some exaggerated attributes about them. Almost like caricatures. Cobb's the good guy sheriff, the Armorer is the quest giver that speaks in riddles, Dexter Jettster kinda stereotypical chef guy, Han Solo is a smooth rogue with heart of gold, Jar Jar is Jar Jar... Idk a few random examples but like you don't see people like this in real life. Also bro I love the Krayt dragon episode. One of my favorite pieces of Star Wars content. I'd probably consider it a masterpiece, it's like a love letter to westerns

I hope Mando season 3 comes out swinging like that, but I feel like it will be a lot of commentary because they will have to explain in the show why Baby Yoda is back with Mando for the people who didn’t watch Boba.

Finally started watching this. Got two eps to go and I've gotta say, for something I never wanted nor asked for, it's a competently made, if slow as molasses, well executed show. However, that just made me somehow angry again as I saw all these big sets and wide angle shots for this, I kept thinking "You put this much effort in a freaking Andor show, but give the short end of the budget stick to Boba and Obi-Wan". Honestly, it feels like Lucasfilm is really being run by the most clueless bunch imaginable. Either that or there was a mix up in the accounting for the projects lol
Also if you took this show at face value you'd almost think humans were the only species in this galaxy. Really disappointing to see once again they're not leaning into the fact this is a galaxy with millions of alien speicies.

I think humans might be all they really have the budget for with all the locations and stuff in these tv shows. Also I’m honestly not certain if it’s really a budget thing between Boba and Kenobi and stuff, I think it’s just much better writers and direction overall. Although obviously there’s twice as many episodes in Andor which is kind of weird. Most Disney Marvel shows have the 6 episode season format as well, I just don’t understand it at all. I would recommend keeping on with Andor though, there’s some lows but it’s a greatly written show.

I just find it odd as ANH didn't have a big budget and that had loads of aliens. Why would Disney of all people be stingy about it?

But how does it compare when adjusted for inflation? Maybe they just don’t want to bother with the costumes as much on the small screen. A movie is a much bigger spectacle on release I guess.

I don't know if the lack of aliens was because of budget. I guess it could be but I think it's mainly because Gilroy doesn't know or care about that stuff. There are aliens and droids everywhere in the F&F shows because they care about details like that and will work with the props and costume departments to get it right. There is no way Gilroy was giving them that kind of direction on Andor.
Speaking of ANH, I know it had a pretty small budget but I really wonder how they pulled it off. I think it would be pretty hard for some indie creator/studio to do something like that today. Like yeah there was a lot of repurposing of random items like garbage cans and whatnot but some of the prop and set design in that movie is pretty elaborate. Death Star interior for example and creating all those sets of stormtrooper armor would certainly be challenging. Flying production out to Tunisia is also huge, I don't think low budget productions tend to move filming locations that much

Apparently ANH and its budget would be around 50 million today, so to be honest it should be similar to these tv shows budgets. Could be, still it just displays a lack of added detail that made Star Wars appealing in the first place.

I’d probably assume Mando is at least 10 million per episode but that honestly might be low balling it, I could see it being higher.

Seems like season 3 is going to be alot of a larger scale then just some small adventures. Although if every episode is Mandalorian/ Mandalore focused I might end up missing some of the smaller filler episodes.

My second favorite is probably the Ahsoka episode, although I guess that one is less filler.

I actually worry that season 3 will be too “story focused” and leave us with little of Mandos roots as a bounty Hunter and what not. If they go that route though then I actually don’t understand why they couldn’t have Grogu sit out a season. I feel like the Mandalorian storyline will be resolved either at the end of this season or he stsrt of the next. Favreau and Filoni said they have no real ending planned. I did see a funny fan theory that Mando gets put in Carbonite and wakes up 500 years later to Grogu as Mandalore/ Grand Master lol.
