Hey gang, I just got back Disneyland Paris. Never been to one of the parks in my life and honestly it was kinda surreal the whole time after having heard about it, seen the ads and just generally have its presence loom over. I will say though, Star Tours lived up to my hype and then some. It's just such an immersive ride The new Marvel expansion is kind of cool too. The ant man buffet is just out of this world good lol Tbh I didn't even know Disney had parks outside of the US I know of California, Florida, Paris, and there’s one in Japan (Tokyo I believe), there might be one someone else that I’m forgetting? They have cruises too. Honestly the Disney Cruise was a fantastic experience ngl. Free food 24/7 on the top deck, movie theatres (where I first saw Avengers), show theatres, tons of activities. All free while on board. The private Disney island was a great place as well to spend a day.

Anyone playing Starfield? I didn't research it much and blindly preordered because it was getting hyped up a lot. I guess it's okay... I'm not having that much fun though to be honest. I think my biggest annoyance is the amount of loading screens. Wish they found a better way to hide them at least.
A lot of other elements feel kinda clunky and not intuitive. Guess it's something to pass the time because I did need a new game to play. I'm very picky with video games and don't play that many and like going back to the same handful so this may be one I play for a long time since there's a lot of content. But still waiting for the ultimate open world space sandbox game because this isn't it

But still waiting for the ultimate open world space sandbox game because this isn't it Honestly it gets better, I’m about 20 hours in. At first it feels slow and clunky but there’s lot of little things that make the game kind of special imo. I just treat it more as an exploration game. Story is definitely not great, but apparently the new game plus experience will be interesting from what we were told. The combat is serviceable, although I would have much preferred a more Mass Effect style combat. It’s basically just Fallout in space. I think this will be the last game on the current Bethesda engine I think, the loading screen issues and what not I think are from (understandable) development issues. The game was being worked on for 6 years but I got to imagine lots of that development was on the old consoles and then there was the Microsoft deal which made the game exclusive probably throwing out alot of time that would have been spent on a PlayStation release. It’s just an awkward development cycle I think. Good chance we will see Fallout 6 or New Vegas 2 next and then the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls 6 in like 2026 lol. That game is gonna be absolutely crazy hype, maybe the most hype of all time. Although Witcher 4 will probably come out around that time too, and GTA6. We might see a new golden age of gaming mid ways through this generation of consoles.

I kinda wonder what was the most hyped game of all time to date? I think it’s probably Halo 2? I was young then and wasn’t in to halo but it seems like that was crazy. They were doing stuff in Times Square and the release was on the news. I’m pretty sure that was the release that Bill Gates was even handing out the first copies at midnight. I mean the Xbox itself owes its continuous existence to those first Halo games.

I'm not doing a lot of the side stuff and kinda making random choices but I might do another playthrough where I'm roleplaying like a certain type of character Seems like a lot of developers are switching to Unreal engine which I think is good because the engines used on many of these big games are showing their age a little. Unreal is very solid. I think Jedi: Survivor was supposed to use the latest Unreal version but it wasn't ready in time. And true a lot of big titles are coming in the next couple years. People are saying even this year has been very good for gaming. Last few years, there wasn't that much good stuff I don't think. I kinda wonder what was the most hyped game of all time to date? It could be something from back then. With the decline of brick and mortar stores, there's no more crazy midnight releases or waiting in long lines for stuff anymore since everything is online/digital now. Cyberpunk 2077 was hugely hyped though unfortunately a let down. But personally I loved that game and it's actually one of my favorites

I still like a lot of aspects but I think my expectations just weren't in line with Bethesda's typical formula which might be why it feels underwhelming

I reckon game of the year awards will be arguing over Tears of the Kingdom or Baldur's Gate. Starfield just hasn't got any sort of momentum with the reception it's gotten, despite the popularity so far. Could drop off quickly over time mind you

Whereas Witcher 3 was kind of unknown and word of mouth spread a lot over time. I feel like GTA5 was hyped by some, but word of mouth again made it way more popular. 2023 has actually be pretty good yeah. There’s not much I’m really looking forward to left though, mainly just Assassins Creed Mirage. I think it will be fun to play an older style AC again, while I’m not really sold on the character they choose I do like the location and time period.

I’ll admit last year I did sort of think GoW Ragnorak deserved the GOTY, but I also think maybe it’s harder to win when your game is only on one system. Spider-Man 2 might be a dark horse though. I still need to play the first one…

Have you played it yet?

Those hours are over 3 characters, I got two to the end of Act 2/ start of 3 but Act 3 was having performance issues on launch and was buggy so I was waiting for patches, probably safe to go back now. The game is incredible if you like that turn based style combat.

Finished the main quest of Starfield, went a lot quicker than expected... I think I did it in about 30 hours. I'm not gonna lie this might be the worst game narrative I've ever played lol. It got a little interesting towards the end of the second act but I mean majority of it is just repetitive fetch quests. Kinda feels like it was afterthought.
But it's fine, I don't think it was meant to be the main focus of the game anyway. The overall universe they created is pretty cool and the game has grown on me. I'm gonna do the side stuff in NG+. But yeah overall I would not say it is a very memorable game for me.
Also I'm just now remembering the preorder bonus skin... Not even sure where you were supposed to get that lol

Not even sure where you were supposed to get that lol No Man's Sky has been getting a lot of updates recently, its a lot better than it used to be. I'd suggest trying that if Starfield is trash. It's been tuned pretty well over the years for a space game, it used to feel a lot emptier. I feel like Bethesda is heading in the wrong direction, especially after Fallout 76. I feel like the most hyped games tend to be disproportionate to actual game on release date. Cyberpunk was a big one. I feel like developers have started making incomplete games and releasing them, which is kind of stupid IMO. I used to play a lot more PVP games then everything started having microtransactions and that really pushed me away from a lot of games. I'm playing Valheim right now, I recommend that it's kind of like Skyrim but with a survival sandbox twist in the Viking age. Seven Days to Die is also a pretty good game. I noticed the plot-lines in a lot of stories aren't memorable nowadays. It might be the novelty, but I swear games like Halo 1/2/3 were infinitely better than the next installments in terms of story and gameplay. Back in the day I feel like developers were limited but ultimately creative and inspired, I feel like devs currently have all these tools and just got lazy.

Several elements of my hypothetical dream space game are in NMS. I still play it but it can get boring after a while. That game has a very interesting and high concept narrative which I enjoyed but it would be cool to see a game like that with a more grounded and character driven narrative. I think the problem is games today are far more complicated than they used to be and so the dev cycle is a lot longer. But I guess companies can't afford to take their time polishing their games and have to rush them out to appease shareholders or similar factors. I also think given the increasing intricacies of games, it is understandable for them to have more bugs. No bugs at all is impossible anyway. I'm sympathetic to the actual developers because I think most of the time they do their best and give their best effort but some of the companies they work for definitely have questionable practices

I actually stopped playing Starfield for the time being lol, playing the game wanted me to go play Skyrim and now I’m 25 hours into another play through for that

Anyone here watch the Walking Dead? I'm just now finishing the last two seasons after taking a really long break from the show. There's now two more spinoffs to the show, one with Daryl in Europe and another with Rick and Michonne. I don't know too much about them, but that show always had a super interesting universe to me. I always thought it was more realistic I guess to kill off a lot of the characters, I got invested in a lot of characters and it made the show a big quality dip for me. If you've watched you know what I'm saying, still hard to get invested when people drop like flies, even after surviving years.

Haven’t been this sick ever Ah that's rough man, hope you get better, or are feeling better now It's crazy I think I actually haven't been sick in over three years now... I guess because of everyone wearing masks for a couple years but also I don't really go out much or be in large groups of people lol. Wondering how long I can go. My parents got Covid I think twice actually but I still managed to not get it even though we were in the same house

Did anyone here ever get into Star Wars MMO SWTOR? I had a fully maxed out sith marauder and I was caught up until Iokath. I think they added more story since I played years ago but when I login I can't find any thing. I think another company took control of the game too just recently if I'm not mistaken.
I'm pretty sure it's dead for the most part, I loved the story but I only finished one of paths. Never really got into PVP. I think they should've released the game in a different way, I never much cared for the pvp.
Everything, including cool mounts and armor cost real money. You had to grind to find it resold on the market. If I could've earned stuff in that game I would've played it a lot more.
The KoTOR remaster got cancelled I'm pretty sure, and Aspyr promised some dlc content for one of the original games and couldn't provide it. I think it was supposed to be the TSL mod and I think it had to do with copyright or something. It was a big mess.
I don't know if any of you ever played it, but it's my favorite game I've ever played and the best star wars story IMO, its what got me into star wars as a kid. Either way I hope they do something with Revan's arc in the future, or incorporate some elements of that style of the old republic from SWTOR. If I'm not wrong, they plan to incorporate the old republic, but change it into some cowboy type deal.

Now I'm not really drawn to the old republic stuff. I don't doubt it's great but I guess since it's pretty detached from the main saga, I imagine it might not feel like the same Star Wars. I think they will do stuff with Revan because of how iconic he is. But wonder if they will ever revisit that era in Disney canon. Seems like high republic has replaced it

I've heard it's pretty special, but I'm curious as to whether it's any better than the first one I remember playing one of those games as a kid, one of the few games you wouldn't fast travel in because zipping around the map on top of buildings is just too fun. I heard there is a new universe where Miles Morales is the new spider-man, I've lost touch of spider man franchise. I'll probably get the remaster one day if it goes on sale.

I was super invested from 2010 (the closed and open Beta days) until around 2015/16 (Knights of the Eternal Throne). I did all the raids, flashpoints, maxed out Valor (PVP) on a character. I have done every class story several times and have/ did have every class at max level. Now days I do still go back for the major story updates and play on occasion, it’s not that I don’t like the game anymore it’s just… I feel like I’ve done pretty much everything that’s good. At this point I’d just be grinding rep or running more flashpoints. I do really hope that when the game eventually shuts down that it stays accessible as a single player game because it would suck to lose those fully voice acted class stories forever.

And yeah there’s actually a content update coming soon and a new company did take the reigns (officially after 7.4 launches I believe). There’s a new flashpoint and a Ord Mantell daily area coming.
Actually Ewan McGregor voiced the Imperial Colonel from the last story update.

Has anyone been playing Spiderman 2? I've heard it's pretty special, but I'm curious as to whether it's any better than the first one I’ve actually just now been playing the first one and it’s pretty fun. Excellent take on Spidey and Peter Parker. I’m skeptical of the new one just mainly due to it being the same map basically. I feel like there’s only so many they can do before it gets boring… next game gotta move away from NYC

They're making a Wolverine game, so probably a nice offshoot from all this

Did anyone here ever get into Star Wars MMO SWTOR? I had a fully maxed out sith marauder and I was caught up until Iokath. I think they added more story since I played years ago but when I login I can't find any thing. I think another company took control of the game too just recently if I'm not mistaken. I'm pretty sure it's dead for the most part, I loved the story but I only finished one of paths. Never really got into PVP. I think they should've released the game in a different way, I never much cared for the pvp. Everything, including cool mounts and armor cost real money. I do really hope that when the game eventually shuts down that it stays accessible as a single player game because it would suck to lose those fully voice acted class stories forever. That's some dedication right there, I tried a few different playthroughs but ultimately felt like the grind was going to be tooo much to max out even another character. Honestly, the story in and of itself is good enough for another run. I did a few flashpoints, but the flashpoint que I always had issues getting matches. I've probably never done a raid either. I did some solo flashpoints out of desperation to try them, ( I kept getting the same ones) and it was so unmanageable I'd spend 3 hours with my support bot just getting revived. Honestly, I would've completed the story but I think I was supposed to finish the Iokath flashpoint to continue it. So I think I just got stuck and eventually gave up. I log in a lot to try to find out what to do next, maybe I just completed the story? I loved KOET, that story in and of itself was a perfectly crafted, and I enjoyed the other DLC stuff a lot too. I really like how you're consequences have actions in that game, I was able to kill Malavai Quinn, and Theron Shann stuff like I definitely felt. I hope they would keep the games campaign available, with all the work and the time you can spend doing quests it's honestly great. That's why I've strayed away from the fallen order series with Cal, I played the first and bought it full price. Finished it and started it the same weekend. SWTOR is an mmo although. I definitely feel like once you've grinded a game for a certain time, you just become op and run out of things to do. I should get back into it, there's still a lot of content and I assume that "era" of Star Wars won't be revisited again potentially. Sometimes I did question it though, I'm pretty sure they found hyperspace travel really early on, so the technology in Star Wars is consistent throughout most of its time. I still felt like the game was in a different "era" but technologically the same as the movies. Currently I'm playing Far Cry 5 for the first time, it's on sale for 13USD$ with all the dlc's, so I'm pretty excited about that.

It’s apparently set in Mandripoor too which should be a good setting. I’m just wondering how it’s gonna play given Wolverine can’t traverse the same as Spider-Man or even Batman (given the Spidey games seem heavily inspired by the Arkham series).
