My family wasn't doing anything anyway, but I was invited to celebrate Christmas with my girlfriend's family tomorrow. But well... can't do that now... Man that does stink Are you with any family or friends at all this Christmas? Aside from my sister, no. We aren't allowed to leave the house. My father is at the school he quarantined in (all by himself) and my mother is in her bedroom, in isolation, so we didn't see her either. My sister and I both tested negative yesterday, so for now we don't have to be in complete isolation (still quarantined in the house), so yeah she is the only person I am allowed to see. Of course I did videocall with my parents, and my mother talks to us from her room sometimes. And I am going to join my girlfriend's family tomorrow through Skype though. But to me this day was no different than any other in the last week. Then again, I never cared too much for Christmas. I just hope I test negative on Sunday so I will be allowed to leave the house for New Year's Eve and celebrate that with my girlfriend.

My grandmother did come to our house by foot to leave some snacks at the door yesterday though, which was sweet. And I talked to her at like a 5 meter distance. I wouldn't be surprised if she comes bringing something else tomorrow. And Christmas is two days here (I don't think that is the case everywhere). So I guess that kind of counts.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas and I hope Pinda tested negative. Wishing you all the best. We are getting closer to the end of the tunnel, but remember there is still a lot of that to go. I was looking at the projections from all the travel on Christmas. January isn’t gonna be a good month. Stay safe all.

Yeah, I tested negative, as did my sister. And my parents seem to have escaped with mild symptoms. According to the health authorities here they can no longer spread the virus. So I guess we got quite lucky.

I was going to visit her on New Year's Eve, but her parents are not completely comfortable with that yet. Even though officially we can leave quarantine, and I tested negative, they fear I could still have been infected later by my parents. So I will only see her on Tuesday unfortunately. Though I understand, they were going to visit my girlfriend's grandparents, who are all around 90... so it's better to not take the risk. My girlfriend felt bad about it though, so she had ice delivered to my house which was sweet.

Well, happy new year everyone! Happy new year! Were the fireworks pretty loud for you on the night? Well, they banned fireworks here this year because they usually cause a significant number of people to be hospitalized and they didn't want to put even more pressure on the hospitals. But yeah, there were still quite a lot of fireworks here because people don't give a fuck. Strangely enough they all stopped at 0:30 though, usually they will be doing it all night. I guess they were afraid of the police showing up and giving them a 100+ Euros fine.

Jeez, I didn't think this election was going to go down peacefully, but I didn't quite expect that... I did. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-53597975Or maybe you guys should want him to die, because this looks like authoritarianism to me... I have been predicting an attempted coup in the US for a while... guess we are getting there sooner than I expected... Those Trump supporters have been getting brainwashed for years now. They really convinced themselves that the elections were rigged and that they are saving their democracy. Even now they are making up excuses online claiming this was staged by Antifa to blame Trump... which is quite ridiculous. Trump literally told them to march to the Capital and "show strength". This is completely on him. But yet his supporters still cannot deal with criticism of their cult leader. It is scary, and we are slowly heading in the same direction here unfortunately. They cut themselves off from all dissenting opinions, like a cult and pretend that their leader can do no wrong. Even if Trump was a great leader with amazing policies this kind of mindset would be dangerous. I have my political beliefs, in fact I joined a political party in an active role just this summer. But if they pull some stupid shit (which they likely won't because they might not even get a single seat) I am swapping back to the Green Party or the Labour Party immediately. That is how it should be in a healthy democracy. The comment is quoted is the comment that likely made Spidyyr leave this place by the way. I warned that Trump would pull something like this and that was reason for him to cut off all contact with this site. And I hate to say it, but I was right. Trump has been trying everything in his power to invalidate these elections. Luckily not all of his allies have joined him in this madness, if they had who knows... maybe this coup would have been successful. By the way, Spider is completely part of the cult. I went to look at his Reddit account out of curiosity what he thought of these events, and he is just going on all kinds of political posts pretending to be a Democrat and thanking "voter fraud". He is basically contributing to this violent mindset and spreading misinformation. This is the kind of stuff that is going to lead to the decline of democracy in the West I am afraid...

And for whatever reason tend to use them against the police or healthcare workers on New Year's Eve. And of course lots of accidents happen. New Year is always a complete mess in the Netherlands.

I don't think they can fix it, nor do I think this is unique to the US. Like I said, we are heading in the same direction in the Netherlands. There are the two (and a new one is on the way) far-right parties who account for about 1/3rd of the population and all other political parties (from the socialists to the neoliberals) and it becomes more and more obvious that their supporters live in different realities. The far-right supporters can be seen all over the Internet, they are on Facebook claiming how the government is plotting against us. They interrupt speeches by the PM because they do not believe in the Coronavirus. They go visit politicians they don't like at their homes, basically threatening them. You see their stickers all over the city proclaiming that our equivalent of the BBC is fake news. You cannot really talk to these people because they live in a different world. They will call you a pawn or a "sheep" and any statistics or any articles you show them they consider to be fake. And I am sure the UK is equally divided, especially when it comes to Brexit.

Trump has enough of a cult-like following to start his own platform now. And yeah, I agree Biden might pardon him. His message has been very conciliatory, I don't think he is willing to clash with Trump and his supporters again. He might face resistance from other Democrats though, maybe they can convince him to not do it. Honestly, Trump is just going to be a shadow-president. He will keep claiming the election was rigged and he is the real winner until he dies. And I think he can do significant damage to the US and the faith Americans have in democracy by doing so. His followers will never recognize Biden, so there will be two Americas in a sense.
