Well Biden may not be the best but I'm just glad there will be some shake up in politics now. I feel like 8 years with the same guy is too much We are looking at 14 years of the same guy here... He is already at 10 and is projected to win a fourth term in March. But that is nothing compared to Merkel of course...

American politics is pretty cringe though. Watched a part of the victory speeches of Biden and Harris... Like why do they feel the need to repeatedly go on about their family and religion? And jesus, those people are nationalistic. "We as Americans can do everything, together there is nothing we cannot do". Really cringey...
I guess European politics are just more down to Earth. It's just like "Alright, we got a lot of votes, good job guys. See you all at work tomorrow."

However since it's the democrats, the party line pretty much involves making speeches like that

Hmm hey guys hope your all doing well Howdy partner! How're you holding up? Have you been catching up with Mando? Yea I am so excited for the next 4 episodes. Plus this coming year we’ll have The Bad Batch show and the Cassian Andor show to look forward to. As well as season 3 of Mando. It’s a good time to be a fan of Star Wars. Even if this year has sucked in general Plus I just got back my grades for this semester and I did a lot better than I thought I would.

My brother was in contact with someone who had the virus luckily he got his results back and tested negative. I fear that things will get a lot worse with Covid before it gets better.
Stay safe everyone

I take it you're a happy crab then Pinda? Yes! Two days later this guy announced he actually didn't want to resign and wanted to remove those not loyal to him from HIS party. Which basically led to a civil war within that political party. They went from the largest party in the Provincial Elections two years ago (only at 12% though because Dutch politics is fractured) to complete chaos in the last few weeks. And we have national elections in 4 months, so that is great timing. It was only a matter of time anyway though. It is basically a tradition now for Dutch far-right parties here to shoot themselves in the foot through infighting. I guess the people attracted to such parties have too much of an ego. Still, it is scary that even now, with revelations coming out of outright Nazism within the party leader, still 3% of the population would vote for them. Their leader (the one in the article) apparently told fellow party leaders that "everyone he knows hates Jews". He did not even deny it. He said it was a 'joke'. But that is apparently not enough to be politically annihilated these days. Hopefully this in-fighting will do the trick... because this is not something we should reward with votes...

Stay safe everyone I don't know. It looks like vaccines are on their way. Germany is apparently aiming for the 16th of December as deadline for getting everything ready to start vaccinating. And if Germany is getting vaccines so is the rest of the EU, since we ordered them together. I would assume the US gets the first vaccines at the same time, if not earlier. Though maybe they are not quite as prepared to use them as the Germans will be.

Oof, this guy got quoted by a former friends as denying the Holocaust and saying "Hitler was right" and "Jews are parasites on white culture". And he didn't deny it. He simply said "I don't remember saying it, I had a lot to drink". Like, what the fuck? That's a terrible excuse. But whatever, his poll numbers actually went up since last week... Guess outright Nazism is acceptable these days.

I'm afraid David Prowse passed away It's sad seeing how so many OT actors we've lost. Reminds you of the sobering fact Star Wars is really quite an old thing now.

RIP my free public transport subscription. After 5 years I finally have to start paying for using the train/bus/subway/tram again. Dang that stinks. How much is it for transport then? Without discounts or a new subscription each time I have to travel to university would cost me 40 euros, and visiting my girlfriend would cost me 30 euros. So that's expensive as fuck. But there is a train subscription for 105 euros a month that allows unlimited travel outside rush hours. It is inconvenient when I have lectures in the morning (as I would have to take the train before rush hour, which is really early). But at least it is affordable enough. The problem is that Amsterdam is quite large, so you usually also need to take the subway/bus, which makes things much more expensive. So I guess I will have to walk from now on. But thanks to Corona I don't need to go to university at all until at least september. So I will take a weekend train subscription for 30 euros and use that to visit my girlfriend. Because luckily she can still visit me for free during the week for another 2,5 years. Corona is going to save me a lot of money I guess. But yeah, I will miss being able to take any public transport without thinking about the costs.

With trains here I bought a year long railcard that cuts down the price of train fare, which saves a good bit. I'm not sure if you have something like that there though and to be honest the subscription for the weekends sounds cheaper Yeah, I can easily imagine that being a real sinking feeling when such a privilege disappears

On the topic of vaccines at least from what I have seen from Gallup and Pew only like 50% of people say they will take a vaccine. It’s also important to know that it will be months before the vaccine rolls out to the general public. We could have a doubling in Covid cases by then world wide.

I fucked up bros. My driver's license expires in like two weeks and I didn't realize how long the waitlist for an appointment at the DMV would be. So earliest I can go there is January 7 and it'll be some weeks after that for my actual license to come in as well... So that's like at least a month of not being able to drive. 😔

But it is probably more beneficial if only occasionally use the train. For me it is my primary mode of transport, so even with all the discounts it is still expensive.

Well, the positive is that if fewer people take the vaccine younger people will get it earlier. I think I am at the bottom of the list of vaccine distribution here as a young person with no serious "pre-existing conditions".
