So the assignment my department has given me is basically downloading documents from an email and renaming their file names and moving them to a different folder supposedly for the analysts to view
Honestly felt like this was a prank or something lmao I don't see why the files can't be sent straight to the analysts and why they have to be renamed. Idk maybe they just gave me something I can't fuck up

It felt like the biggest waste of my time, but the department claimed it was very helpful to the professors using it for their publications.

A few weeks ago our leaders denied us the privilege of holding funerals for loved ones. It was just too dangerous, they said. Think about the virus.
But it turns out now that funerals are perfectly fine, just as long as those funerals are politically advantageous to the left. It turns out that if you’re a drafted matyr for the Democratic Party, you can have three funerals and no one will raise an eyebrow.

Either they’re lying to us now, endangering us, and willfully spreading coronavirus, or they were never all that worried about coronavirus and just used it to seize power and make a mockery of the constitution.

They made an exception for those here. Though they were limited to 30 people, who should follow corona regulations as much as possible I think. Also, didn't the US mostly end its lockdown? So wouldn't funerals be allowed again anyway?

And he’s not one of the wackos that argued that we need to remain on lockdown until there’s a cure. What I am saying is that there are some people who have become very powerful due to being allowed to restrict people’s constitutional rights. Not so very long ago, they used these pretenses to restrict protests. But now that there’s mass riots which enflame racial hatred, something which the left in our country cannot survive without, they are now letting people assemble all they want. I don’t know what the right standard is honestly. But you shouldn’t completely change yours for political gain. I think we can all agree on that. For example, if Trump completely flipped his rhetoric and said that everyone needs to stay inside for the next two years, I don’t think the hypocrisy would be laughed off the way it is right now.

Let me sum it up better. Here is the standard we’re suppose to accept:
If you protest lockdowns in Lansing but commit no crimes, you are “dangerous” and a “threat to the fabric of our nation”
But if you beat people up, loot, and burn down buildings all over the country, you are “mostly peaceful” and “a necessary part of our discourse”

Both have their share of radical protesters acting outside the bounds of their respective matters, but what you're saying the standard is oversimplifies the situation on both sides.

Now that there actually is violence but it’s coming from the left, it’s buried by the news. And social distancing is basically a joke now. Showing up with signs is treated as devil worship if you’re on the right. Murdering old men is swept under the rug if you’re on the left.

I mean, how many people were at that funeral and did they follow regulations? If it was a small group, all keeping distance that seems stupid. But otherwise I could see why you would want to do that at the peak of the epidemic in New York, which has the highest concentration of infections around the world.

Trump didn't seem to give a shit about the lockdowns anyway. They are definitely necessary. And social distancing and staying home as much as possible should probably be a thing until there is a vaccine. That sucks, but this situation is not a joke. You could see millions of deaths worldwide if we just let the virus do its thing. Additionally, it turns out that even those who survive the virus can have lasting damage done to their body, which could in the long term lead to more deaths, a lower life expectancy and just a lot of suffering in general. Macron was right when he said we are at war with this virus. Also, I am pretty sure Trump is using these protests to gain power. Like branding Antifa a terrorist organization, while in fact it is not a proper organization at all, this allows you to arrest anyone who claims to be Antifascist, and that seems fairly dangerous to me. And why is this portrayed as a right vs. left thing? Racism should not be an issue combated along political lines. Besides, I am pretty sure this stuff is going to hurt 'the Left' more than it will make sure they 'survive'. I am 100% sure if Trump completely flipped his rhetoric everyone would laugh if off. Because that is something he constantly does. The guy is like am AI that just keeps spewing random stuff.

But that doesn't mean you can take away the right to protest from other people. Here we had anti-lockdown protests, as well as anti-racism protests now. Both were tolerated, though with restrictions. Because the right to protest is constitutional, the government can never completely take it away form anyone. I would assume its the same in the US. But if I recall correctly, there were people walking around with weapons in those anti-lockdown protests. That seems dangerous. Now I know it's the US, but still protesting while carrying weapons seems dangerous and should not be tolerated, just like looting shouldn't be. But peaceful protests should be allowed, though people should try to keep their distance from each other if possible.

But how many 'left-wing' murders were actually committed? Because in terms of politically motivated murders the right-wing, across the West, has been miles ahead of the left-wing for decades now. Seems like that may have been swept under the rug.

Conservatives are winning hearts and minds across the world by simply not doing things like this Pretty sure conservatives (or the far-right as we call them here) do things like this all the time, their voters are just not as sensitive to it as Left-wing voters though. Here you can have a completely peaceful protest against racism, and be attacked by the far-right for breaking social distancing rules (again, this is stupid, but some mistakes were made in preparing the protest). That will cause the Green Party mayor, who is responsible, to come under attack as well, she even had to defend herself against a vote of no-confidence (which she won). And in the polls this results in the Green Party losing votes. But at the same time, the far-right (and I mean really far) guy who is attacking the mayor the hardest, is actively going to cities to campaign for the elections in March (usually campaigns start 2-3 months before the elections). He shakes hands with peoples, goes on group photos, hands out fliers. Basically he disregards all social distancing rules on purpose. There is also a lone protester there who offers to take the fliers the far-right party handed out to people so he can recycle them. He is beaten up by the party's 'security' because he refuses to leave a public area. This party still gains votes in the polls. No one cares. That's the difference.

Do agree that ANTIFA probably shouldn’t be called a terrorist organization. That would be like calling “Neo-Nazis” a terrorist group.

But you made it sound like the left has a monopoly on political murders, and gets away with them. While in fact left-wing murders/terrorism have been declining for years, the numbers are very low. In fact it is almost non-existent in the developed world. Right-wing murders have been on the rise throughout this decade though. It is a far greater problem.

But it barely seems to harm his approval whenever he does something ridiculous, something that would have caused a resignation from our PM if he did it. It is the same thing here by the way. The far-right was calling for a complete lockdown as early as February. Then a week after the government introduced a some form of lockdown they completely switched to criticizing the government for 'taking away civil liberties from the people'. Not a single journalist mentioned this weird switch, or asked them about it directly, because they are all afraid of being labeled as having a left-wing bias. It felt really strange seeing them make the exact opposite arguments from a week earlier, with no one pointing out the hypocrisy. And their supporters don't seem to care at all. They switched opinions just as easily.

They switched opinions just as easily. I think the media rags on Trump too much here to the point where people don’t take their criticism of him seriously, even when there are legitimate points. They’ve gone after him for things like getting an extra scoop of ice cream, waking up too early, and watching the World Series. Of course there’s a lot bigger things they’ve been wrong on, like selectively editing clips of him to make him sound like he’s saying something racist or awful. After the Charlottesville incident for example, they cut out clips of him condemning Neo-Nazi groups and then asked for weeks on end why he didn’t condemn them. I’m not saying he doesn’t do anything bad, but when you have to dig this deep to criticize someone in such a petty way, or even falsify information, it makes you seem like you’re out for blood instead of out for the truth. So that’s probably why he’s able to endure so much criticism even when he does bad things: his opponents cry wolf so many times that a large part of the country stops listening.

When people in power undermine the law, violence surges.
It is not racist to punish people for crimes they commit. It is cowardice not to.
If there's anything we've learned over the past few weeks, its that terrorism works. The fear of the mob has led the leaders of Seattle to forfeit six city blocks, New York to disband their plain clothes units, and Atlanta to side against two police officers who acted completely appropriately. Fear works to enact change.
