We come to it at last. A group of episodes actually released in chronological order. The first arc we saw and one that no doubt seemed epic upon first viewing. Let's see how it holds up ten years later. (In case you weren't feeling old)
August 10th - 16th 2018

Rising Malevolence is another fun one. I liked how a lot of season 1 episodes spent time in space or on Venators or the Twilight. Maybe it was due to budget constraints so they couldn't show too many other locations but I liked it. Even though Rebels does something similar in its early seasons, it doesn't feel the same.
Also cool how season 1 fleshed out many of the background Jedi characters from the movies. Good getting some more backstory with Ahsoka and Plo Koon and I like how people always make comments about Anakin. He's beginning to get a reputation lol. His interactions with Ahsoka were nice, felt a little wholesome. For some reason I thought his voice sounded high pitched at times. I might just be remembering his voice in later seasons, Matt Lanter was obviously younger here so that might be it.
Palpatine does not usually get so involved. He directly contacted Anakin to tell him to leave. Guess it was the Separatist's turn to get an upper hand lol

Shadow of Malevolence is cool too. The writers were great at doing dry humor for this show I love it. This episode is obviously inspired by the trench run. Interesting to see something like that but during the Clone War. I'm also a fan of all the pilot jargon after seeing Top Gun lol
I always wished they would've shown Grievous' origins in this show but I guess they kind of just jumped into the story and didn't do background for most things and people.

Destroy Malevolence. Fun. Also Padme got a fat ass 😩😩😤😤🙏🏻💦🔥😍👌😩💦 umph
I think this is the only episode with all the main characters (Anakin, Padme, Obi-Wan, and the droids) in it. Pretty cool. Lmao at those fire battle droids though lol

It’s interesting that Palps was a major player in all three of these episodes despite only appearing in one. It showed in a way how important the Malevolence was to him and it likely had a part in his future plans. One thing though is that you think his role in Destroy Malevolence would have raised some suspicion of him. In the other two episodes he was subtle but Padme would probably have some questions for him IMO.

Rising Malevolence is probably the best paced episode we’ve watched so far. It didn’t try to do too much but it did a small story pretty well. Like Kenbo said, the early episodes set in space were probably a budget thing but they’re pretty charming. A minor nitpick but Anakin’s voice seemed a little high in this episode. It sounds more like Hayden Christensen than normal. Not really the episode’s fault but it would have been nice if the Christophsis episodes had this as well to show the progression. Anyway, this episode doesn’t have a whole lot of action but you feel a whole lot of tension. Grievous is perfectly evil in this episode which I think may have the highest body count of any episode due to the opening. I really like the ESB like scene where Ahsoka senses Plo. The music is good there and it’s pretty powerful overall. Also interesting is while Anakin disagrees with the council and sometimes goes behind their back, he still shows them open respect. Anyway I like this episode. Plo is a great character and I always love the clone moments. 7/10 Best episode of the rewatch so far.

I don’t remember caring for this episode but honestly it’s pretty good. Shadow of Malevolence is another well paced episode with proper tension with lots of nice callbacks to ANH. Anakin really shines in this episode. It shows how much fun he has with flying but also what a strong leader he is when he gets down to business. And more good characterization for Grievous showing how cowardly yet cruel he is. As a side note, it’s a little strange to Nala Se seemingly caring about clones given what she does in Season 6. This episode has a great balance between fun and intense. Just like the last episode, this one has a simple plot but executes it well. 7/10 Another Good Episode. No complaints to be made. Honestly I thought this arc would feel pretty unremarkable but it’s actually pretty well done.

Maybe she would ask them later in Season 6 why the fuck they were plotting with General Grievous. Or who knows, maybe Palps wanted to use this shit as political justification to take over Scipio. Like yeah I guess he was probably already planning that shit.

Okay Destroy Malevolence. Here we go. Okay I remember that this was briefly my favorite episode but honestly it’s a bit eh after the other two episodes. It’s fun but it suddenly feels like there aren’t any stakes. Obviously we see more of it but somehow the Malevolence feels a lot less scary in this one and that’s too bad. I don’t think anyone dies in this episode. Like no one. And that’s pretty weird considering all the shit that happened on the last two episodes. I know Captain Panaka was supposed to show up and die in this episode and honestly that would have been pretty cool. Like an actually movie character dying didn’t happen until like Season 3 so yeah that might’ve been nice. This epsisode is weirdly paced. There’s way too many strange cuts and you know they could’ve used a few more minutes to tell this story. The Obi-Grievous fight was eh too. I don’t know if anyone else feels like this but I’m not a fan of how many times they fight in this show. Similar to Anakin vs Dooku, every time it happens it takes away from ROTS. And this fight was really not that good anyway. Like honestly I wish Obi just got away and Grievous didn’t use his lightsabers. Anyway this episode is just okay. It’s fine by itself but it’s not really a good close to this trilogy. Fine watch tho. 6/10

If someone could change the background for me this week, that would be appreciated. Been quite busy lately on vacation. But I’ll be back next week and I plan to catch up.

But I thought Typho was now her main guard as he's in AOTC Oh yeah the Grevious saying "Hello there" was kinda awesome to me as someone who enjoys the memes lol..... Years later Obi-Wan deciding to do that same move is pretty cool tbh

I don't know why people kept saying this show was for kids. Like nothing about it feels like it is geared specifically towards children. Sure it's animated but so is stuff like South Park and Family Guy. Tone is pretty much the same as the movies so might as well call them "for kids" too...
That kinda made me mad tbh...

I mean like there’s an unfortunate idea that animated TV can’t be taken seriously. So if you subscribe to that then a show must either be a comedy or for kids.

One thing that does not make sense is that we see Wolffe here for the first time and he's a naval officer. Did he get demoted or what because there's no way he'd become a commander Maybe he volunteered to switch positions? Basically the entire Wolf Pack other than Wolffe, Sinker, and Boost was killed so maybe he offered to act as Plo's new commander on the field... although I think he's a commander here anyway. Clone ranks are weird.

Gotta love the Shadow of Malevolence opening narration.
And it's fiendish droid leader... *long awkward pause* General Grievous.

Rising Malevolence was very well paced, and I thought it was great how the show chose to give background to a minor movie character like Plo Koon. That's an aspect of the earlier episodes I always enjoyed. Anakin and Ahsoka's relationship in this episode felt very natural, and it was a good way to show how Anakin matured in the few months following AOTC. The whole relationship of Anakin with the Council is fun, especially since he uses it as a teaching moment for Ahsoka. I thought there was real drama in this episode. Grievous and the Separatists were shown to be real threats to the Republic and Jedi. The battle droid humor was still around too, and it was just the right amount.

In Shadow of Malevolence, I thought Anakin was portrayed really well. His balance of strong leadership and risk taking matched well to what the prequels showed. The stakes felt high in this episode just like the first episode of the arc, making it even better. Grievous was still a formidable opponent here as well.
Destroy Malevolence was also a fun episode, but I found it's plot to be less compelling compared to the previous episodes. It was cool to have a lot of the main characters together, adding to the nostalgia.
