So I just downloaded and watched the movie... I am surprised I ended up liking it. It is definitely the best of the new movies by far. There are some cringy moments that are only in there to reference the original trilogy and the whole droid revolution side-plot is kind of weird. But overall it is a decent movie that really expands the universe. It is a pity this movie was released after the disaster that was Last Jedi. This is the kind of stuff Disney should have been making instead of the Sequel trilogy. I hope the fact that this movie flopped won't discourage Disney from making more underworld movies. I liked the new characters, especially Becket. I even ended up liking Han, despite the fact that I always found him annoying in the original trilogy. The only character I didn't like is that droid. Yeah it really is a good film imo. I think it’s my favorite of the Disney Star Wars films with Rogue One being the obvious second. Overall Rogue One might be a better made film but Solo has better characters by far and is a bit more interesting at times. I really want more side adventures like this. Solo is the only film that doesn’t directly relate to the main movies and it works quite well. I also agree that Beckett was my favorite character, he had a very interesting neutral strait to him and I honestly didn’t expect him to turn on Han like that. If Solo was going to be a trilogy I would have preferred him being in the next movies but I guess it kinda goes with the whole mentor figure always dies in the first movie (Qui Gon, Kenobi and ironically Han in the sequels). At first I also didn’t think Han needed a movie, and didn’t think Harrison Ford could be replaced but the spinoff really does let me appreciate Han more and it’s cool how he goes from the start of this film to the grizzled veteran in TFA.

Kind of sad Maul's organization is no longer called the Shadow Collective though. I understand that would have ruined his surprise cameo at the end, but I liked that name. I kind of like the name “Crimson Dawn” more tbh...

It’s a damn shame that this was released after TLJ... and overall the advertising for Solo just wasn’t there. Idk if Disney purposely wanted this to fail, cause it seems like that’s how they set it up. Or if the SJWs at Disney just wanted to promote a female lead more... even though Qi’ra is far cooler then Rey anyways.
There has been rumors that some spinoffs are still in production. Rain Johnson’s trilogy seems dead as can be though (thankfully). Ewan however insists he’s currently not working on Kenobi movie. But I think the rumored movies that were to be directed by the Game of Thrones guys are still in early production. And I read a rumor for the Boba spinoff just last month

I will buy the film on Blu Ray I guess to support this content, as I’ll probably do with TCW next year as well

Solo was the sixth most expensive film ever made... yeah hard to make your money back there. But I think it was mainly the initial incompetence and all the reshoots that had to be done cause Disney didn’t like the direction of the film...

And unlike the sequels they did take some pretty big actors with Emilia Clarke and Woody Harrelson... Solo pretty much made Donald Glover (Lando) into an A lister now though

Of course, I don't think LucasFilm are crazy enough to pursue what would be another flop Only this time it would one more deserving than Solo. Also that Boba film better start off with him crawling out of the sarlacc.

It'd be nice if the Boba film occurred post-ROTJ, but I have a feeling it would be between ROTS-ANH, since that seems to be the part of the timeline Disney is using for anthologies.

I really hope a Boba, Kenobi, and even some other anthologies take place though, those are way more interesting than what the ST era has to offer currently.

ROTS-ANH would make more sense though if they want to connect it to Solo. At the end of Solo Han is going to visit Jabba, Boba will most likely be hanging out there too. And Maul has ties with Jabba too. So it would allow them to explore all of those characters further. Also... assuming we won't get the bounty hunter arc, they could have Cad Bane in it. So yeah, I prefer that era.

Next to TCW getting cancelled, this movie's one of the biggest tragedies of the Disney-era in my opinion. It's actually really enjoyable and fun, and I think the characters work really well. And most people who saw it agree with that. It's just that barely anyone saw it. It sucks that a big part of this movie doing poorly was because of the response to The Last Jedi, which ended up making nearly four times as much money...

Also, from what I've heard of him, I really like Jon Kasdan (Laurence Kasdan's son and cowriter for Solo). He apparently went on to Wookieepedia to get some names of places, and while it doesn't sound like Maul's cameo was his idea, he was one of the people the most in favor of it. He's also talked pretty openly about how the movie did poorly and how there were more plans for all of the characters.

Boba spinoff in this era is better since they would probably use Han and Chewie again

Bought Solo on blu ray, definitely gonna be a movie I rewatch a lot in the future. I think I’ve rewatched Rogue One like 4 or 5 times since it’s home release

If they brought Maul back into the live action films, do you think there's a good chance they may introduce Thrawn?

Thrawn didn’t join the galactic stage until shortly after the empires creation

If you realize that Leia would have been like 9 years old during this movie the Han-Leia relationship becomes kind of creepy...

I rewatched Solo again and I 100% think it’s the best Disney Star Wars movie to date... honestly the biggest positive to the movie is despite it being the most distant to the main saga, it however feels the closest to the franchise as a whole. There is a lot of familiarity in Solo, almost all the planets are recognizable, apart from Yavin IV (and I guess very briefly Mustafar and Coruscant) even rogue one used almost entirely new locations. Also we see a lot of familiar aliens in Solo and some recognizeable name drops like Bossk and Aurra Sing. It makes the movie feel very connected to the other content.
I know directors want to leave their mark on the franchise by adding new content but the sequel guys take it too far...
