I didn’t have any expectations for Visions but after today’s trailer I’m actually kind of excited for it when it comes out. Given they’ll be 9 separate stories, I’m sure there will be at least a couple cool ones. Plus anime Star Wars fights should look really slick. I think some of it looks cool but a lot of it doesn't look like Star Wars at all. Don't really have high hopes for it tbh but we'll see. I think there's going to be some varying tones like really childish stuff for kids then some more mature stuff. I think it just leans too hard into anime visuals that it loses the stuff that gave Star Wars such unique visual identity. Nevertheless, weebs will be drooling over this

Well I picked up the Thrawn Trilogy yesterday, already finished Heir to the Empire. It was a lot of fun. I thought the beginning was really great with Thrawn retrieving the ysalamiri and finding Mount Tantiss. And I’m fascinated by Joruus C’Baoth too bad he sort of disappeared halfway through the book. The OT gang reunited was great. Reading it is different than seeing it onscreen but it was still enjoyable. Everyone was written well. However I’m confused by Mara Jade’s popularity I honestly found her to be annoying... I guess she develops over the next two books. But I really liked all the other new characters. But I have to say the story lost some steam for me towards the end and I just didn’t find it as exciting as the beginning. It was still good but just not as interesting I guess. I suppose if it’s supposed to be like the first act of a bigger story, it may not feel that climactic. It’s a shame these books don’t fit in that well with the context of the prequels since they were written long before the clone wars lore was fleshed out. Given some recent info, I do wonder if they have plans to tweak the story and create a version that fits into new canon. But I honestly can’t imagine them knocking it out of the park or anything especially not if the sequels are incorporated. I can see why many people consider this their “sequel trilogy”. Would’ve been awesome if these books were turned into episodes 7-9 but one problem was probably the actors being old Actually, just a thought, perhaps Mara won more fans hearts when she turned good? I don't know, maybe she's a bit overrated after all lol

Can't believe it took them this long to do an easy money grab like this. Damn, I need to play the original though...

PS5 exclusive sadly. I never got into the kotor era and thought with modern graphics and whatnot this would be my chance until I saw the exclusivity. I mean I haven’t gotten a new console yet I suppose I could get a PS5 though I was going to go with an Xbox

I mean I haven’t gotten a new console yet I suppose I could get a PS5 though I was going to go with an Xbox Ironically the original Kotor's only console release was on Xbox I think it's said to be a timed exclusive though. That said, apparently Sony is publishing it, so I'm not sure if that's the case. I really do want to play the original two though, regardless of how poorly pats of it might have aged at this point

No words.... A Rey stan, a TLJ fan, and a Luke is a Mary Sue crazy person. Imagine being a professional writer and having such bad takes on writing. These kinds of people don't belong anywhere near a Star Wars project. They don't deserve that privilege and will just ruin it for others. So much frustrating news from Lucasfilm these days. One step forward comes with ten steps back. It's so exhausting being a Star Wars fan. It is so easy to please the real fans yet they keep catering to the fake ones

Still, I find it mad that LucasFilm keeps hiring these loons. It's why I keep thinking they'll find a way to screw up the Obi-Wan series. Even when LucasFilm think of a good, positive idea that fans all like, they just have to innovate a means of dumping a load of disappointment on it. We'll see how it goes, but I won't be surprised if we get some very grim rumours over the next couple years...

Watched Visions and it was exactly what I expected. Overall kinda bad or mediocre at best and without a true Star Wars identity. And sorta disappointing that 8/9 episodes involved Jedi and Sith. I would've liked to see more variety. Do have to give credit to the animation though as it was quite nice for most of the episodes. Also I watched it in Japanese but I might rewatch in English at some point... But idk do I want Disney to think I liked it that much? Lol... Anyway thoughts for each episode:
The Duel (7/10):
I won't lie this was a cool idea but the fact that they used the First Order just automatically puts me off. Literally no reason to use the bootleg Empire over the real one. Probably would've been an 8 without the First Order lmao
Tatooine Rhapsody (5.5/10):
Really silly but honestly I didn't hate it somehow. Nice they acknowledged the Clone Wars even if it was only for one frame... Weird how this was the only episode to use established Star Wars characters though.
The Twins (3/10):
Stupid. Did JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson make this together? We got another dumbass superweapon and then if the Holdo maneuver wasn't already terrible and lore breaking, they decided to do it again but with a fucking lightsaber attached to the ship... Also how are they breathing in space? I'm guessing these guys just didn't give a shit. And they also probably like TLJ a lot if they copied the hyperspace ram visuals
The Village Bride (6.5/10):
Okay I guess. Somehow I don't remember it much even though I watched it today lol. Seeing a Separatist remnant was very cool but also confusing because I thought they mentioned the Empire was in power... But the stuff with a Separatist warlord with reprogrammed battle droids is definitely a cool idea I wouldn't mind being explored somewhere else.
The Ninth Jedi (8/10):
I actually thought this one was very cool. Maybe not perfect in terms of lore but still there were a lot of interesting ideas.
T0-B1 (3/10):
Dumb. The Inquisitor's entrance and the lightning in the dark sky looked pretty badass but that's really all I can say. And I guess the planet design though it was basically just Tatooine in cooler colors
The Elder (7.5/10):
Not bad, I could actually accept this as canon content I guess something in the old republic era. Actually felt like a Star Wars story with a Jedi and his apprentice going on some adventure. Unfortunately it was a little boring but still one of the better ones from this project.
Lop and Ocho (10/10):
Okay this was a very strange outlier. I thought this one was amazing and the second one I'd accept in canon. If their plan was "leave them wanting more" they accomplished it. I just loved everything about it I don't really have any criticism. Great story and characters as well as overall design which felt like it could more or less fit in the Star Wars universe. I quite liked that Imperial officer as well. Not exactly a traditional design but very fitting in a Star Wars anime. So yeah really exceptional I would like to see something more come out of this and the team behind it.
Akakiri (4/10)
This was pretty lame. Again the animation would be the only thing I can compliment but even then only some shots stood out while most was just meh. Also the least Star Wars-y one. Only Star Wars element in it was the fact that they said Jedi a couple times and lightsabers, though once again they were shaped like katanas. Yeah they just didn't get it right. A Jedi who doesn't believe in destiny or fate? What happened to the will of the Force? It's a pretty big theme in Star Wars. And great, more Force healing... lol
So yeah honestly I think this was kind of pointless and a waste of time. Some wasted potential too. Clearly some of these teams are quite talented. Why not help them follow the lore a little better and let them make real Star Wars? I'd have preferred them to just give the Lop and Ocho guys a mini series or a whole movie. Everything else was inconsequential. It's unlikely to be referenced again and it just didn't show us anything that interesting or worthwhile. Like every episode was just rehashing kyber crystals and lightsabers and Jedi and the Empire era and stuff. What's the obsession with that? Once again nothing from Clone Wars or other time periods. I mean to be fair many of them were kind of vague on the time period but still, no one wanted to show Clones or gunships or stuff like that?
In a way it's like the sequels again only they did us the service of making it non canon from the start. But it feels like another case of people who've never seen Star Wars making something that just isn't Star Wars in any regard except for name... Oh well. Guess the wait for them to give us something actually good continues...

I've seen the first four and really, this just doesn't seem to be worth all the effort. The first one looks cool, but it's basically just an Akira Kurosawa movie with bit of Star Wars tacked onto it. Second one wasn't too bad, though why does everyone have the proportions of children...
The Twins was just so bad, it's almost good. The English dub is kinda hilarious and the idea of a superweapon being a couple Star Destroyers being glued together is just a funny kind of stupid. I get how they wanted to throw in some Dragonball Z, over the top visuals, but honestly this just wasn't good enough.
Village Bride was, perhaps, the most anime-y so far. If you didn't know what you were watching for the first few minutes, you would probably never guess it was a Star Wars joint. Just felt like a bad ripoff of Princess Mononoke. Not to mention the visuals looked a bit sub-par. Just didn't look very high quality.

Which episodes of Visions would you recommend? I don't really want to watch them all and I'm really not a big anime fan, but I want to try it still. The Duel seemed like the coolest one to me.

The one involving the rock band was kinda humourous, which I think was episode 2? The first one with the whole black and white samurai film look isn't too bad either. I haven't seen all of them, but those are the best ones I've seen so far.

Kind of surprised we're getting Book of Boba so late in the year. I could've sworn we were going to see a November release. Also, I heard rumours it's going to continue the chapter numbers from Mando, so it might be more connected to than we first thought.

Aside from Ezra casting rumours, I haven't heard much about Ahsoka's prodution.

My guess is BOBF in winter, Andor and Obi-Wan in spring, Bad Batch season 2 in summer, Mando in fall or winter and maybe Ahsoka around then too
It's weird though I swear when the investor day happened, they said Mando, Ahsoka, and something else were all going to drop Winter 2021. Idk maybe I'm misremembering that. It was too ambitious to happen anyway though

Saw another couple Visions episodes. The Lop one looked like the Empire was invading a Sutdio Ghibli film lol. It's story would've been better if it weren't for the bad dub script and some really off voice direction. Also, why a random rabbit instead of choosing a more recognisable Star Wars alien? The Elder was better. A bit dull, but one of the most plausible, though it's kind of weird how they decided that Sith dissolve into rock unlike a Jedi disappearing with the Force. Just felt kind of humorous

Looks like Hayden's back for the Ahsoka series as well. Have to say, this is one of those big surprises that keeps on giving. Wonder if he'll be as a ghost or be around in flashbacks though.

Apparently there's rumours of an animated Maul series about him and Crimson Dawn. To be honest, I'd be really happy if they do it. It's clear people can't get enough of him, though it is funny how the fanbase has gone from loving him just because he was a kickass fighter to loving him because he's now got a richly detailed, morally unique character

I think it may have even had live action plans at one point but they want to avoid Ray Park controversies... I'm kinda neutral on it tbh. There's definitely some gaps in Maul's story they could better fill in and I'd appreciate more fleshing out of some of Solo's elements like Q'ira and Dryden Vos. So I would like them to do it but at the same time it's not something I'd be really excited for right now

Hell, why not animate the Dark Disciple book and include the cutting room floor bits where Quinlan fought Maul when he was on Dooku's payroll?
