Anyone here excited for the Warcraft movie next year?? I sure know i am After Star Wars 7 it's my most anticipated movie. There was a bootleg footage from Comic-Con and if you are a fan of the games and the World of Warcraft games and you saw the video (it is down already unfortunately) it must've looked amazing to you. It already blew me away and it was just a bootleg. Too bad not the whole footage they showed was on recording though. I have also been following the lore of the Warcraft universe and this movie is following it very closely already. Probably becaue Chris Metzen of Blizzard writes the film. He does all the lore for Warcaft almost singlehandedly. Atleast we've still got this screenshot from the film. This is what i call CGI done right. Ofcourse it is also Motion Capture but you can't judge that from a still. I was gonna make this thread with the bootleg video here but unfortunately it got taken down just before i finished making this. Anyway, anyone else excited for this film?

I don't know anything about Warcraft but there are so many upcoming game movies... some don't even make sense at all, like a minecraft or tetris movie... as if those games have any story. At least Warcraft seems to have a story (I don't know anything about it though) so it would probably be better. But I'm just sitting here, hoping for a RuneScape movie or TV series one day. It definitely has better lore than minecraft

I don't play World of Warcraft (I never really got into it), but I'm really looking forward to this movie. I'm hoping it can fill the void of blockbuster fantasy films that's left open now that The Hobbit movies are done.

Just to be sure the movie follows the storyline of "Warcraft: Orcs And Humans" The first in the Warcraft trilogy wich takes place years before "World of Warcraft"
The movie follows the exodus of the Orcs as their home planet of Draenor is falling apart (something that literally happens years later after the second war) and after Grommash Hellscream has drunken the blood of the Demon Monnarath. Gul'dan, an Orc Warlock opens The Dark Portal (This was seen in the bootleg video that got removed) wich allows the Orcs to leave Draenor and enter the planet Azeroth (on wich Warcraft and World of Warcraft largely take place) where they are greeted by the Humans of Stormwind.
So the movie takes place around 35 years before World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor, the newest expansion.

Including RuneScape but especially Elder Scrolls online/Skyrim. Anyway, is this movie going to be understandable for people that know nothing about the game? If so I might just pirate it some day.

Pretty sure Warcraft beats those easily. About the movue, yeah it'll be easy to follow. The movie only follows the main storyline and might just make a few hints here and there about other content for veteran players and lorejunkies. Overall the movie will follow the Orcs and the Humans (the game is called Warcraft: Orcs And Humans after all) and will show both sides via a group of characters. Prior knowledge is not necessarily needed. See as the LOTR or Hobbit movies, you can follow them without knowing everything, but behind all that is a fantastic world of lore.

I think SWTOR has it beat for content, 8 fully voice acted class stories plus all the planet stories, operations, flash points, etc... WoW is really only known for its raids/ end game group content

Hmm, the Elder Scrolls games have books everywhere. So that might be close. And RuneScape has been around for a few years longer than Warcraft, with weekly updates that almost always include new lore. Although lots of it exists outside the game and I think Elder Scrolls games easily beat it. But I guess I'm just defending the game's lore because I'm one of the people that are obsessed with it Anyway, I guess I will watch it. But I often feel confused when trying to get into game stories that have been around for a while. I tried to get into the lore of Elder Scrolls online, but it was nearly impossible because I was confused by all the existing Elder Scrolls lore I didn't know about.

So I'm assuming they purposely made the CGI look very similar to the CGI from the game. I almost never complain about CGI from trailers (I think way too many people do that nowadays), but I wasn't a fan of the CGI from that trailer. If they were trying to match the style of the game, then maybe they just shouldn't have used any live action at all. But, hey, they still have over seven months to work on this and get the effects down. And I'm still looking forward to it.
