Chapter One: Scum and Villainy
Sand. Darkness. Storms.
Sansaya hated Tatooine. Her home planet, where she was born and raised, and she couldn't even stand it.
Her clan had set up tents in a small circle in the Dune Sea. Deciding to camp in the Dune Sea was Sansaya's idea; there would be no other witnesses, no spies working for Newan the Hutt, making the planning and organization of the upcoming battle that much easier.
But she hated the planet. So why am I fighting to rule it?
The boss's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of an argument outside her tent. She walked out to see the Wookiee, Spider, point a blaster at Pinda. On the ground beside them were a couple of logs and a match. "Don't kill me for trying to show you how to start a proper fire!" said Pinda, holding his arms out as he lay on the floor. Spider roared something in Shyriiwook, and no one questioned how Spider had found wooden logs on Tatooine.
"Hey!" shouted Sansaya, running towards the mercenaries. She lowered Spider's blaster and helped Pinda up. "We're not going to kill each other. There'll be plenty of men for you to kill when we make our attack."
The attack. Everyone in the camp waited eagerly for the attack. All the mercenaries under Sansaya had a bone to pick with Newan the Hutt, or one of his minions.
"I was merely telling this blasted beast how to start a fire," Pinda said, adjusting his monocle and top hat. "He didn't have to try and kill me. My ancestor of House Zwerver always made the best fires."
"No one cares about your stupid ancestors," said Killer, pointing his flamethrower at the logs and starting the fire himself.
"Rude!" said Pinda, walking away from the argument.
Sansaya worried about the state of her team. None of them loved or cared for each other. None of them were loyal to Sansaya, either; all they sought was power or revenge. Sansaya knew she was going to have to inspire some love from them if she was to be a good leader.
"Shall I fry anyone, sir?" said the cyborg, Tater, from behind Sansaya. He was much, much taller than the woman, but as she looked up to look at his face, she wasn't exactly sure where to look. Did the potato as his head even have eyes?
"Um, no, no frying," said Sansaya. "Go fry some womp rats or something. We're getting hungry."
"Of course, sir," said Tater in his deep voice. Where did the sound even come from? thought Sansaya, but she didn't care. As long as he could kill.
"Mistress," said NAM0, her personal droid. "You have a transmission in your tent."
"A transmission?" Sansaya was surprised. No one was supposed to contact her. Unless she was gaining allies... "From who?"
"The Hutt," replied NAM0. "Newan."
Moments later...
Sansaya viewed the massive (and ugly) hologram in her tent.
"Hello, sweetie!" cackled Newan in Huttese. "It's been a while, hasn't it?" The fat (even by Hutt standards) crime lord grinned as he shoved frog after frog into his mouth.
"How did you get this comm through?" Sansaya asked, motioning to turn it off.
"A Hutt has his birds. But, ah! Don't turn it off just yet. I have some valuable info for you. I do not know why I'm giving it to you, considering how treacherous you are... but a Hutt always tries to help others."
Sansaya laughed. "BullPotato Rules."
Newan's grin disappeared. "I wish I could tell you that I missed you and your stupid jokes, but that would be a lie. In fact I never wish to see you again."
"Then why are talking to each other right now?"
"Because this will hopefully be the last time I ever have to see you again, if my men do their job correctly."
"Your men?" Sansaya grabbed her pistol. "They're coming for an attack?"
"Not an outside attack, fool," said Newan. "That would be no fun, would it? I have planted spies among the seven men who work for you right now. They will destroy you, each and every one of you. And you won't even know it."
"Why are you telling me this? If they're really here, why don't you just let them kill me without anyone knowing?" Sansaya didn't want to believe Newan's information, but she knew of the games he had played in the past.
"Because I want to watch you suffer. I want to watch you break under the pressure of finding the traitors among you. Just as you betrayed me." The hologram vanished, and Sansaya stared into the darkness of her tent.
Sansaya couldn't believe the Hutt. She looked at her droid. "NAM0, you heard him! Increase security. Pay attention to the others." But who would pay attention to NAM0? thought Sansaya. Already she was having suspicions. No, she thought to herself, she had to stay strong.
"Hey, girl," said Tyron. The Devaronian grinned. "What's up?"
"You talk too much. Go use your words elsewhere. Start a meeting. Now!" ordered Sansaya.
"Woah, calm down," said Tyron. "Is everything alright?"
"I'll tell you outside."
Moments later...
Sansaya emerged from her tent to the small audience.
"What is it?" said Bane, the deep voice echoing from under his armor. Perhaps he was the spy, thought Sansaya. He had the armor to hide under.
"What's wrong? You said you'd tell us," said Tyron. Or he was the spy, hiding under his witty words.
"I was just contacted by," Sansaya paused, "Newan the Hutt."
The group fell silent.
"He said that there were, uh, spies among us. To destroy us from within. Before we even make our attack."
They said nothing.
"Here's what we're gonna do," said Sansaya. "Discuss who you think is the spy, and report back to me." She returned to her tent. Sansaya needed a drink.
Immediately, Sansaya could hear accusations and suspicions being thrown around. "I brought womp rats!" said an excited Tater.
Sansaya rubbed her eyes and laid on her bed. Her thoughts returned to Tatooine. She hated the planet even more now... Hutts, Tusken Raiders, sand, and sarlaac pits... and scum. Scum and villainy.
