I still like the movies and I'm sure I'll watch them occasionally but they're probably some of the most overrated films ever. That's true. They were good at their time. But you grow out of them and notice their flaws. You can enjoy them, but if people still consider them the greatest or best films made then they really haven't woken up and smelled the roses.

I honestly don't like star wars that much anymore.. I like TCW but that's about it. Most of Star wars is just overrated mediocre materiel that grown men worship for really no reason. An untrue generalisation....

An untrue generalisation.... No, there's a lot of grown men who think criticism of Star Wars is sacrilege. And there are loads that don't... The majority actually. Only a very small minority of people actually think that SW is completely flawless and most fans do have their complaints about SW content, be it the Prequels, Rebels or The Expanded Universe, all have their flaws (yes, even the beloved show TCW...). Also calling SW content that isn't TCW 'mediocre' and 'overrated' is actually pretty close minded considering some of the best SW stories are not in that particular show.

Star Wars has a lot of flaws, but the fact that they were all so popular and extraordinary when they released has made them classics and parts of the saga very iconic. Despite SW being pretty overrated, I still will always love the universe.

Yeah I have a complaint, half the stuff in TPM either doesn't make sense, has no purpose or contradicts itself.
So I just watched TPM (4th Star Wars movie in 4 days now) and I really don’t understand why Darth Maul is in this film… Like seriously what is he accomplishing other then having a sort of awkward lightsaber fight (I mean there was no depth or reason behind it).
So the Sith have been extinct for a millennium and suddenly this trivial trade crisis is the right time to reveal yourself? First of all his purpose was to track the Queen because Palpatine said he wanted a treaty but really the main purpose was to have the queen propose a vote of no confidence in the Chancellor so he could be elected in the first place… So why does Maul need to track them exactly? I mean the whole point was that the Queen had to get to Coruscant one way or another, she wasn’t going to go into hiding while her people where suffering so that doesn’t seem like a logical reason.
Then Maul returns to Naboo for no reason at all… Why is Naboo even important anymore, Palpatine got what he wanted. He should have probably made some BS up about something in the Senate and told the Viceroy to pull out of the planet, I mean I’m not sure but I assume that’s why there was only one ship left from the blockade in the first place was because of a political move to make Gunray look like he was acting by himself (a extremist), either that or they just had that many ships to land troops but I find that much less likely.
So in conclusion Maul seems to serve no purpose in this film to me other then to have a memorable finale (which honestly was one of the worse lightsaber duels in the saga) and to have Qui-Gon die yet they could have had other ways to go about that.
Then you compare Maul to like Dooku or Grievous and both served a much larger purpose then we’ll nothing at all really. And if you had to have Maul in this movie why did he have to die? He could have just stayed on as like an Assassin or something, make his one appearance then disappear. It’s not like Palpatine really cares much for the rule of two weather it be canon sources or EU. He wanted an army of dark Jedi and has lots of inquisitors it seems (which in a way would probably both have the same type of role as Maul).
Yes maybe they wanted to introduce the Sith or some BS but really this was sort of a poor way to go about it, Dooku appearing in the first movie would have been better, maybe show him as like a Jedi at the start and then at the end his faith in the Republic and Jedi is shaken. Like the part in the Plagueis novel where they talk. I mean the movie doesn't need to have a strong Sith presence or a massive lightsaber fight to be good, ANH didn't have either those really. Darth Vader was just an enforcer, he used the force like once that entire movie and beat an old Man with ease

Also the thing about telling the Viceroy to pull out of Nabo makes way more sense, seriously how did him and his other retard get out of that mess?? Also the fact that these guys know so much makes them a massive threat if captured like shit it's sort of hard to believe these two clowns wouldn't start spilling everything they knew if it meant getting them out of jail. Gunray and his boyfriend have spoke to Sidious numerous times and even met Maul in person they also know who was the master and who was the apprentice... Logically it would make sense to have both of these fools killed to protect the overall scheme but yeah somehow it is meant to believed nothing happens and they some how both get home free.
See what I mean about so many things in the prequels (specifically TPM and a bit of AOTC) being left mainly to chance?? A lot of this stuff couldn't be planned out ahead of time by Palpatine sure the Naboo crisis could but the little events that were apart of it can go either way yet somehow things go perfectly every time to have a what I would call a forced plot.

Yeah, Darth Maul's role is kinda dumb.
