Boromir wasn't a bad guy, but the ring got the better of him. Of course his ego was inflated, but he still did some honourable things like trying to save the Hobbits. However, I liked Faramir more. He was so much quieter, and also more polite. And FYI he never wanted the ring, the movie screwed that up. He was very brave, and honourable. And Squiggy he might have committed suicide, but he was trying to save his city. Also his father, Denathor always disregarded him, so that has to have contributed to his decision.

I like Boromir better. He really took a stand for Merry and Pippin and had courage and faith to stand side by side for a friend till death. Faramir lost all hope and just tried to take back osgiliath knowing he would get slaughtered. They btoh tried to pocess the ring from Frodo so that factor evens out. I liked Boromir's attitude towards the war better. Although Faramir offered more. Yeah, well, you have to take into consideration that Denathore pretty much ignored/disliked Faramir ever since Boromir didn't come back in TFOTR. And I thought when Faramir tried to take back Osgiliath was one of the best parts in ROTK. That is one of my favorite scenes. )D

He never tried to take the Ring from Frodo, so I found the change of his character in the movie disgusting. I agree. I remember a moment when the nazgul were attacking Faramir and a small group of men coming from Osgiliath, (no idea how to spell that), and this dude that was hangin' with Pipen saw it and he was like, "Help Faramir!!!!" when Pipen was like stoned sitting there. Shows that Faramir's men really would follow him into battle anywhere.

Faramir was a strong and noble man in the books. His ancestors were from Numenor! So were Boromir's ancestors... Boromir was more like Denethor. He had pride.

But Faramir imprisoned Frodo which in my opinion is worse then attempting to take the ring. Faramir imprisoned him and was going to hand the ring over to his father as well.

Pippin is my favorite character in all of the Lord of the rings trilogy. I love Hobbits, I think there clumsy, funny, and I love when Pippin screws up with the fireworks in The Fellowship of the Ring haha. " You hold it", "no you hold it", "You should have planted it into the ground". Boom to the sky. One of my favorite scenes.

My favorite character is gimli. He does has some humor to him as well from time to time throughout the movies. He's probably my second choice.

But you have to think, the situation was different in the movie than in the book. Frodo and Sam were all upfront with Faramir in the book, so he had more reason to trust them. But they lied to him in the movie. They hid Gollum, they hid the ring, they kept a lot from him. I think if I were Faramir, I wouldn't really trust Frodo in the movie and I'd want to take him to Gondor, ring or no ring.

To me, all 4 four films (so far) are masterpieces but ROTK is my all time favorite.

I think my favorite character is Theodin Oakenshield. Um.... Newan... That's not a real character....... Either you're talking about King Théoden of Rohan (who appears in LOTR) OR Thorin Oakenshield, the dwarf.

Last name of Thorin, Malgus . Malgus knows that, he's wondering why Newan put Théoden and Oakenshield together.
