Warhead
Kind of a lame premise but it's automatically not terrible because Ezra isn't in it. It's weird that Kallus is happy about a destroyer getting blown up like surely he still has some care for his comrades
Trials of the Darksaber
Honestly I can't tell if this was a good or bad episode... But it made me cringe a lot so there's that. I am all for training a bit with the darksaber but at the same time it doesn't feel like it's that important... Like what's the chance of being challenged by someone who wields a lightsaber? But I suppose that logic isn't too smart to hold onto lol
Legacy of Mandalore
Wow this was actually quite good... Perhaps one of the best episodes of the entire show. And finally we see an actually interesting planet. Most of this show feels like it takes place in space. The location reminded me of the parts of Spectre that were filmed in Sölden, Austria. Sabine's fight with Saxon was pretty cool it's good she got all the gear from the gauntlets. I'm actually pretty impressed tbh like this is the first episode after two and a half seasons that didn't feel extremely childish

Warhead doesn't have anything that makes it great or anything that makes me really dislike it. Not much happens, but it's refreshing to have an episode without most of the main crew around. I don't mind AP-5 here, and his dynamic with Zeb is fine enough.
I like the concept of the Empire sending out droids to search for rebel cells. The final scene with Thrawn using this setback to his advantage adds some needed pressure on the rebels.
It's a pretty forgettable episode, but it could be worse. I'll give it 5/10.

Looking ahead, that might be one of the last episodes in the series that gets below a 7... maybe there's another 1-2 before this season ends that aren't very good, but S3 has a pretty solid final stretch if I recall correctly. Based off memory, S4 shouldn't have anything weak either.

Based off memory, S4 shouldn't have anything weak either. I think I have to agree the majority of the remaining episodes are decent. I had problems with maybe like 2-4. S4 is overall probably the strongest season should've been the quality of the show throughout

Trials of the Darksaber stands out from most Rebels episodes because of the narrow focus it has. There's no space battles or Stormtroopers. It's all about Kanan, Sabine, and Ezra, and I really appreciate this character-driven approach.
Even though Sabine isn't a Jedi, it's really fun seeing her learn and move past her inner conflict. However, Ezra and her have a fair share of dialogue that made me cringe. It's nice seeing Fenn Rau give Sabine the vambraces and how she uses those to her advantage. Him being around for the training adds a nice touch.
The scene near the end where Sabine backs Kanan down to the ground feels slightly reminiscent of Luke vs Vader in ROTJ. I'm not sure if that was intentional. Their training at night was the highlight of the entire episode.
I'm going to give this an 8.5/10. It could've been higher, but Sabine and Ezra annoy me a little too much, and I think the emotional payoffs could've been better. Also, we don't really see Sabine use the Darksaber very much after this episode, so in hindsight, it makes this one feel a little less consequential. All it really accomplished was helping her confront her family issues, but even that carries into the next episode.

Legacy of Mandalore is another great episode, but my biggest complaint is the personal conflict with Sabine. Maybe I'm being too critical, but the family drama feels rushed and a little underwhelming. We're introduced to Ursula and Tristan who obviously have a complicated past with Sabine. Yet by the end of this, they all seem to be on good terms simply because they realized how bad of a person Gar Saxon was. If this was spread across 2 episodes, I think it would've worked better in that regard. We just don't have enough time to really know her mother or brother as they were before they end up reconciling with Sabine.
I enjoyed pretty much everything else about this episode though. Krownest is a cool location, and the inner Mandalorian conflicts are neat to witness. Gar Saxon vs Sabine is a quick fight, but I think it serves its purpose. I actually forgot that Sabine stayed with her family at the end of this one. To be honest, I don't really remember much in the show from this point onward. It's all kind of a blur, so that'll hopefully make the remainder of the rewatch more exciting.
This is one of those stories that I think TCW would've handled much better. However, I can see why it doesn't get more attention here, since it detracts from the overarching plot of Rebels. While the drama didn't really land for me, I still really liked this episode and how it concluded Saxon's character. I'll give it an 8/10.

Warhead is fine I guess. The droids don’t get on my nerves too much but still not the strongest part.
A la Pursuit of Peace, the final scene is the best part.
4.5/10

Honestly Legacy of Mandalore might be the one episode of the show I give a 10/10 to (although there could be more in season 4 I will have to see). It felt the most like an episode from TCW out of the whole series. And it's like the most interesting thing Rebels has done. An actually cool planet, a unique plot that isn't their same routine. The family drama stuff is the kind of stuff I wanted to see. Maybe more episodes would've given it room to breath but this is pretty much as good as it gets with Rebels. It just adds so much depth to everything and we never get this kind of depth with the show. And Sabine actually stays behind at the end. It's what Zeb should've done in the Lira San episode. And being down a crew member is a good dynamic change to keep things fresh and different, sort of like what happened in the season 1 finale episodes
The Mandalorian stuff might be the better parts of this show. It might not be directly related to the main rebellion stuff but I think that's good. Imagine if TCW never moved past war episodes and every episode was just another battle. It gets repetitive after a while. I think The Mandalorian will pick up some of these stories from Rebels. I hope they're done well

The Darksaber backstory visual was pretty cool

Kanan has way too easy of a time blind. I get the “don’t see with your eyes” thing but he should still struggle with it. At this point I’m not even sure what the point was in blinding him.

Thought that was a stellar episode. Loved the small scale and slow pacing of it. And the music was notably good throughout. Ezra was quite annoying though. I thought he would act more mature in the second half of the show but clearly that not the case.
But anyway that’s my only real gripe with it. Still a standout episode. 8.5/10.

Low key would not be mad if Sabine died here.

Thought this was another great episode. Personally I would have had Sabine die and then let that lead into some Mandalorians joining the Rebels. But of course they probably can’t do that.
I think I kinda overhyped myself and thought it would blow me away, but I’d place it on the same level as the last one. It was a good culmination of the plot we’d seen building up and really Sabine’s whole arc. I wish the ending fight had been more brutal (like Shades of Reason) but I have to remind myself this isn’t TCW.
Not trying to detract too much. The pacing I thought was pretty good. Once again liked the smaller scale. I wanted to strangle Ezra but what else is new?
8.5/10
