Step into the Shadow Part 1:
So Ezra finally hits puberty and thinks he's hot shit now... He is even more annoying now that he's older wtf. He is basically like AOTC Anakin. Sabine looks like a marshmallow and she still sucks. And Kanan looks like nothing happened to him. He took a lightsaber to the face... His whole eye region should be totally burned at the least there should be a noticeable scar. Terrible episode I couldn't stop cringing because of Ezra. Also Hondo's character still sucks. Also apparently Wolffe and Gregor stayed behind on that planet and that info is all offscreen? Fuck outta here Dave. I forgot Thrawn was introduced this season I thought he was season 4's villain.
Shadow Part 2
Ezra SUCKS. Hondo RUINED. Rex WASHED. Rebels GARBAGE.
Holocrons of Fate
Okay I guess idk

You really don’t like this show do you I don't hate it but I don't understand the praise behind it lol. When it's good it's not that great and when it's bad it's really really bad

Hmm Steps into Shadow part 1 is decent, not amazing. Weakest premiere yet imo. I didn’t mind the opening sequence, seeing Ezra become a lot more powerful is pretty cool. And there’s a decent lore explanation with the Holocron. I like that there’s also some conflict between Kanan and Ezra because of it.
The middle section with scouting the base and the fighter scene were pretty boring and Ezra became kind of annoying at the end. The Bendu is intriguing though and it’s pretty neat to see Kanan learning new stuff. The best part of the episode is obviously the Thrawn intro and the Tarkin cameos were also welcome.
In going to say 6/10, there’s a lot of little stuff I like. Ezras new model and saber are fairly good as well. But there’s a lot of boring and kind of pointless stuff here. The story was too spread out and not focused enough

Steps into Shadow part 2 is better, the battle on the station is kind of meh. Seeing Tytus again was good though I like when they sometimes reuse characters like that. Kanan and the Bendu was the best part of this one, that interaction between them is very reminiscent of Yoda and Luke I think, at least that’s the vibe I got.
Thrawns philosophy of short term sacrifices for long term victory is the approach the empire should take with a fledgling rebellion, he doesn’t under estimate his opponents but is confident in the Empires ability to win. He’s one of the few smart imperials we see in the show, and the best villain by far imo.
The Ezra plot line was decent here, I like that he messed up bad to learn the lesson unlike Rey.... anyways I’ll say 7/10, much better but it didn’t have much unique stuff.

Holocrons of Fate is definitely the best of this batch. Again the Bendu is good, he’s just very unique as a force wielder and a teacher. The relationship building with Kanan and Ezra was also good. Maul was cool in this episode even though his inclusion in the show is kind of not needed.
The asteroid base from Son of Dathomir was an interesting choice, although there was a lot of callbacks here to other content. I’m going to say 8/10, stuff with the force in general are usually the best episodes

Ezra suddenly having a new green saber with no explanation is way too much like Luke and I don't like it

Ezra suddenly having a new green saber with no explanation is way too much like Luke and I don't like it Well Kanan has had a couple sabers and the Holocron might have told him.

Kanan went through multiple sabers in the show? I don't think I even noticed lol. What are you saying the holocron told him? He already knew how to build one since we saw him build the blue one. I just wish they showed him building the green one or something. Because there's the big question of where does he get the crystal? Not seeing that with Luke was a mistake imo so pretty bad to repeat that. It just bothers me how he goes from blue to green exactly like Luke. And tbh his hilt is quite similar to Luke's as well... Why

And what I meant is that the Holocron could have told him where to get another crystal or something

Part 1 is kind of a let down for a season premiere. The opening felt more intense, but Ezra still comes across as annoying. At least this characterization helps develop him so that by the end of this season (from memory at least), I like his character.
Everything about this episode other than meeting Bendu is not very memorable. I'm not a big fan of Hondo appearing again, something about his interactions with a rebel cell don't interest me the same way his interactions in TCW did with some of those characters.
Not much else to really say about this one. 6/10, and I agree with Newan that this is the weakest Part 1 premiere of the series.

I enjoy Part 2 more, but Ezra's mission doesn't excite me. It's a neat setting, but I don't like much else about it. Everything with Kanan and Bendu makes this episode interesting.
The ending works pretty well, given that we see Ezra realize his mistakes. I also like that Thrawn sees the bigger picture. I forgot to mention it for Part 1, but being introduced to Thrawn was great. He really helps make these final 2 seasons much better.
I'll go with a 7/10 for this one.

Holocrons of Fate brings back Maul much sooner than I expected when I first watched this season. It's a good concept and I like seeing Kanan and Ezra go through more teaching moments in the cave as they're retrieving the Sith holocron.
The ending with Maul and Ezra is probably the best part. It's kind of obvious what Maul discovered, but I guess younger viewers might not catch it. Maul's attempt to kill Kanan seemed pretty pathetic, but I guess he really just needed to get Ezra alone.
This is a pretty good episode, definitely a step above the premiere. 7.5/10.

Thought the premiere was pretty good. Not amazing but it at least intrigued me. Not a fan of always friendly Hondo but the opening sequence was pretty fun.
And it was pretty cool seeing Kanan meet the Fourth Doctor. Interested to see where that goes.
Main thing is that Ezra was over the top Dancing Peter Parker douchebag. I get that was the point but it felt taken a little too far. I thought I was gonna like him more with his more grown up appearance but I actually hate him more.
Solid start though. 6.5/10.

Found Part 2 really good. Fourth Doctor was again really good. And so liked to Ezra learn his lesson.
The visuals I thought were really good, especially with the falling station. That scene was really well done.
I think this show benefits a lot from 2-parters. Allows the story to build more naturally without needing to rush things.
Not a whole lot to say but I think this episode succeeded and it feels like a good evolution of the show. Don’t feel like Hondo was all that necessary in this one.
8/10

I know I complained about things happening way too slow but I’m surprised how quickly they brought Maul back into the fold. And for them to immediately go back for the Sith Holocron after leaving it.
Not necessarily bad but surprising. And if the rest of the half season turns out to be lame filler then I’m going to wish The Holocrons of Fate came later.

Maul should’ve killed Zeb on the Hologram to show he meant business. That’s what Aurra Sing would do.

This was a really good episode. Season 3 is on fire so far IMO. Maul legitimately felt threatening, which is pretty rare for a villain on this show.
Like I said, it’s a lite weird that they came back to all of this so fast, but of the pace for the show is gonna be like this from now on, I won’t complain. Definitively feels like the show has turned a corner. Gonna say 8.5/10.
Hopefully the worst is now behind us.

But beyond those, the rest of the series is pretty good from here on out.
