Was kind of feeling nostalgic of the SW.com days awhile back and thought this would be a good topic for discussion. Just in general what were you most fond of during the 2010s and were you least fond of? Favorite releases (Movies, shows, games, etc), favorite events (personal or not), etc,
Hard to believe most of us have actually be talking to each other for 10 years now.
Edit: plus this board is dead content cause Cantina has its own lol

One of my favorite memories is oddly the 2011 Stanley cup finals with Vancouver and Boston... and watching the ensuing riots on tv when Vancouver lost... even though it was basically a 4-0 blowout, with 1 garbage score at the end.
I also remember the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics like it was yesterday, was a pretty big deal in Canada.

My favorite sports moment was the 2017 World Series where the Astros beat the Dodgers. But now it turns out they cheated... How did they cheat? I don’t follow baseball too much They invented some really elaborate way of stealing signs between the catcher and pitcher. And this were able to accurately predict what pitch was about to be thrown and alert the batter.

Not sure I understand though, and if it’s so elaborate it almost sounds creative, how is this cheating and not strategy?

Yeah it’s crazy we’re still on here. I hate to think about when we won’t be..
Well anyway I feel like the 2010 turn of the decade didn’t get as much attention as 2020 is getting. Perhaps it is due to meme culture having evolved so much

Kind of astonished at the person I was at the start of this decade. I feel like I've matured a lot and gained so much more direction in what I want and what I can do, but I guess that's expected when you're 24 and reflecting on when you were 14 Thing is I can still vividly remember stuff from so early on, like the Vancouver Olympics like Newan said (first time I properly watched any Olympics) and joining SW.com the following year. First time I'd ever joined an online community which was probably a pretty unorthodox choice I'll never forget how great the site and the people there were. I know a lot of drama came out of it, but I sort of find the squabbles kind of funny nowadays There's so many members I wish were still around. Kind of wish they'd pop in and let us know how their lives have gone. Still, at least the community still lives on here with you guys and that's just fine by me Honestly, at the risk of sounding cheesy, I want to thank you guys for being a hell of a great bunch of friends. Joining this community is one of the best things I did this decade

The 2010s will be one of the most formative decades of our lives, since it encompassed our teenage years and/ or early 20s. I think we've all changed a lot, and it really astonishes me that we still have a core group active here after all this time.
I think the dominance of the MCU at the box office certainly marks it as the defining film franchise of the decade. GOT probably wins it for TV as well. GTA V, Minecraft, and Fortnite are some of the biggest games, even though I personally didn't play them much.
Pretty much every Super Bowl I remember as a distinct event. Same goes for the Olympics, World Cup, and a few other sporting events, such as ATP or NHL championships. I was still too young to really care about the 2012 presidential election, but the 2016 one certainly marks a defining moment. The surge in shootings across America also cannot be understated.
Technology also played a huge role in our lives via medicine, smartphones, social media, memes, etc. Arguably, these technological changes are the most prominent aspect of the 2010s.

Don't forget how most cars now have a built in tablet now It's crazy to think you'd normally have to splurge out on a sat-nav screen at the start of the decade Then there's how phones are almost like little laptops with the power they possess now and as a result they've sort of integrated themselves further into our lives.

I think Breaking Bad might have been a bigger show tbh, at least for the first half of the decade. Even though BB technically started in 2008 it ended in 2014 I believe. For us it was obviously TCW

At the start of this decade I started watching TCW. My English was limited to what I had learned from 4 years of playing RuneScape. When Season 3 of TCW aired I did not want to wait for half a year for the Dutch version to be released... so I delved into piracy into piracy and watched an English show without subtitles for the first time. It is funny to consider how important that might have been in shaping the rest of the decade. RuneScape (but that is a story of the previous decade) and TCW taught my English, they enabled me to enter into the vast online international world.
Today I do my entire study in English alongside students from all over the world (though primarily Europe) on international subjects. You can basically draw a direct line from my decision to watch TCW in 2010 to the present. My study, my skills, my interests and even my political views may all partially stem from that moment...
Regardless, I would say 2013 and 2019 were the most important years of the decade for me. Whenever I try t trace back something that still affects me today it seems to have started in 2013 (this forum is one example). And I often still feel like 2013 is just behind us (even though it has been 7 years now). It may have been my defining year. I was 16 at the time, and I feel like that was around the age I stopped being a child. And 2019... well my girlfriend definitely changed my life as well, but that is more like a single very important thing... while 2013 is just packed with lots of different things.
Definitely think this decade will be the most important in my life though. It will be the one we are all going to talk about to young people when we are old.

However you look at it, they're all iconic series in a decade where TV entered a new golden age.

I'm not entirely sure at what age it happened for me, but I'm at the point now where I can't imagine life without a smartphone or laptop. Our society has basically made them necessities. Yet the fact our parents (or anyone over age 30) lived most of their youth without such commodities really contrasts how far we've come in such a short span.
