Out of Darkness is not terrible. I think that's been my reaction to every episode so far lol. It was cool seeing the clone wars ships and the rhydonium explosions. But this is where Sabine officially becomes annoying... Until now she was tolerable but then she starts being whiny and I fucking hate that shit. She should've been the quiet mysterious character. And someone with a lot more maturity at least more than autismo squad. Speaking of Ezra and Chopper are so damn annoying bruh... I used to think Zeb was okay but he can sometimes be too much as well. Kanan is the only good one tbh. Hera... idk. She's too motherly and not enough milfy....... lmao but yeah her character never did anything for me
Anyway moments I thought were cringe:
- Sabine constantly calling Ezra kid like chill out bitch you're maybe 3 years older than him - When the Star Wars theme started playing when Kanan brought the Ghost to rescue them... Just felt kinda dumb and not the best time for it - Everytime Ezra uses his fucking slingshot like we get it kid, you have autism
God damn it

I like Empire Day. Finally one that doesn't feel like pointless filler. That is a huge problem with the show almost every episode feels like it doesn't do anything. There's no overarching storyline or anything it's always just steal supplies or blow up tie fighters or something dumb like that... This one feels like it introduces some new potential plot lines however if I remember correctly they aren't carried out as well as they could have been

Gathering Forces is okay. Ezra is such a dumbass piece of shit though... Seriously nothing likable about this pussy ass bitch
Also wasn't the tracking through hyperspace something "new" that the First Order developed in TLJ... lol. Seems like the Empire already could do this menacing the Rebels would've already known about it. Maybe I'm missing something and there's an explanation.

"I need you to trust me now"
Again I don't like when they open with the crew fighting Imperials. Serves to make them less scary, if that's even possible. At least the steering being off came back later.

Maybe its just me but it feels like the show has an over reliance on music from the movies

Maybe its just me but it feels like the show has an over reliance on music from the movies Agreed I don't like it. John Williams is overrated tbh... Like he made some very good stuff don't get me wrong but it's not exactly current.

Okay episode. No real strong feeling either way. Ezra, Chopper, and Zeb annoy the shit out of me. But when don't they? Cool Clone Wars callbacks but I mean, that doesn't make me like it a whole lot more. Ahsoka teasing is in there so okay. Just painfully average. That's all I got. 5/10

Like he made some very good stuff don't get me wrong but it's not exactly current. Not really the problem I have. Just feels tacky to replay the songs everyone knows over and over. Kevin Kiner is a talented composer. Why not use some of his stuff? Feels like they just want to push the nostalgia buttons as much as possible, as if that substitutes for writing emotional moments.

Oh so this is where the evil fucking Imperial march being their in universe anthem was made canon. I thought Solo started that.

Empire Day is a notable step up. I feel like things finally have stakes. We'll have to see where it goes but this episode is quite promising. Although I don't like the holiday's name, that's really my biggest problem with the episode. We finally learn more about Ezra and his story feels like it has weight. I won't say it's a great episode. It still has that trademark Rebels cringe in areas and this show doesn't know the meaning of the word subtlety. But hey, maybe this show's about to take a step up. This is much more along the lines of what I would have wanted to follow Spark of Rebellion. 7/10

Beginning of Episode 9 is my favorite part of Rebels so far. Ezra finally feels like a real character and the tension is amped way up.

Now THAT. THAT is the shit I wanted to see. No ifs, ands, or buts, that was some GOOD SHIT. Finally, I feel like these two episodes are ones that can actually compete with Clone Wars. Okay maybe this first is a little contrived but this one was great payoff. And it also kinda paid off Episode 7, which was no standout at all. The force power was different but felt like it fit into Star Wars. And Ezra ACTUALLY STRUGGLES to learn new things. He doesn't just become an expert automatically and defeat experienced darkside users in single combat. MY OH MY we got some actual development. Maybe it was just me but the voice acting felt significantly stronger here. Maybe just because they had better lines to say. And maybe I didn't notice but it didn't feel like they shoehorned in movie music to force emotion. Now I tempted to give this a super high score just because it surprised me, but I'm gonna go with a level of 8/10. My favorite episode so far.

Out of Darkness is kind of meh... the charm the previous episodes had just isn’t in this one. Fighter Flight was at least some wacky side adventure with a bit of humor but Out of Darkness just doesn’t do it for me. Sabine is actually pretty annoying in this one, she becomes one of my favorites later (like season 3...) but she starts off pretty bad. I do like the Republic ships, and the base is pretty cool. The whole mystery vibe before the creatures are revealed is decent. Strange Fulcrum choose that place, but that’s also a nice positive having Fulcrum introduced here. Also Steve Blum is great as Zeb Anyways giving this one a 4/10, I just really don’t like it that much and it’s probably in my bottom 5-10 range of the show. There’s parts of Fighter Flight I enjoyed more like the Ezra and Zeb dynamic there was a bit better than Sabine and Hera here... Rebels has huge variance for me

Empire Day is much better. I guess we never really knew the significance of Lothal back in season 1 but it feels like every episode the Empire grows a little in size on the planet and things become more risky. Tseebo is an interesting plot device and it’s cool that it’s that the episode isn’t the empire just targeting the rebels themselves, they aren’t that much of a threat yet. They have only done some pretty thefts and attacked a few imperials in self defense really.
I don’t mind the imperial march being apart of the universe, it seems fitting the Empire would have some sort of anthem and it is called “March” after all... so why not? I also feel like there was a pretty good species diversity for a early Rebels episode at the parade, cool Ugnaught cameos and what not.
Anyways it’s a solid episode with no major flaws, I’ll say 7/10.

Gathering Forces is really good imo. It has great development for Ezra, he had a significantly better training experience then Rey... obviously not as good as Luke but Luke was a true and believable natural talent, who also got trained by Yoda. I honestly feel like the way Ezra is reacting to his training and his progress is probably similar to Anakin, the frustration seems to be there and the call of the dark side, and Kenobi isn’t that far off from Kanan I don’t think. Obi-Wan really wasn’t ready to be a teacher at the end of TPM. Plus Ezra and Anakin have somewhat similar back stories. I liked that the clone base was reused for a greater purpose, it’s a pretty cool location tbh. I also really liked how Kanan tried to fight dirty and pull a Grievous on the inquisitor with his blaster. I actually really like how Jedi in this period use blasters. Kanan and Luke did and Ezra starts to carry a sidearm later on. I feel like the main reason Jedi didn’t use guns was because they are weapons of emotion and impulse but in this time period things are more clouded and they can be useful tools. I kind of wish you could use a blaster in Fallen Order now Anyways this was a solid episode and the best of the series so far, I’m going to say 8/10.

Oh and it seems like TLJ stole some plot from this episode with the tracker ... how are they so surprised that the first order can track through hyperspace when The Empire could do it 35 years prior...

Yeah that's what I didn't understand... Rebels would already know this tech exists and wouldn't be so surprised

I would probably hate Ezra a lot more if Rey didn’t exist.

Out of Darkness is a pretty forgettable episode, which is a shame since it had potential to develop Sabine and Hera. However, the plot wasn't that interesting, especially when they made Sabine too whiny. Even Hera wasn't super likable in this episode.
The fight with the Fyrnocks wasn't very exciting either, although I did like the explosions. It was neat to see Fort Anaxes and the Clone Wars ships, but the location didn't make up for the mediocre story.
There are worse episodes than this one, but it's definitely one of the weaker installments in the first season. 5/10 for me.

With the exception of Rise of the Old Masters, I think Empire Day marks a substantial increase in S1's quality the rest of the way. The concept is pretty cool, and what we see here really increases the scope of events on Lothal. Like Newan said, I appreciate Tseebo being the main goal of the Empire in this episode, rather than the Rebels.
While not as ambitious as some later episodes, it's pretty enjoyable. No major complaints with this one. It sets up the two-part story nicely and seeing all the major characters so far in this episode adds to the experience. I'll go with 7/10.

Gathering Forces is a strong finish to what Empire Day started. Throughout the entire episode, it feels like the rebels are in danger. Seeing Ezra and Kanan detach in the Phantom from hyperspace is a really cool sequence. It's a little odd Kanan took them to Fort Anaxes, but it serves as a cool setting for their showdown with the Grand Inquisitor. This fight does an excellent job demonstrating the threat these rebels are facing.
Ezra annoyed me a lot in the first half of this episode, but I can accept it given how he develops as a character in the second half. I still don't like his character by the end of this episode, but at least we saw him learn and grow as his powers in the Force continue to increase. It's also neat seeing how well Ezra connects with animals in the series.
On a side note, it's strange that the Grand Inquisitor changed his mind upon arriving at Anaxes on whether to capture or kill the Jedi. He doesn't strike me as someone to suddenly change his objective after clearly besting both Ezra and Kanan.
Overall, Gathering Forces does its job nicely and helps set the stage for bigger events to come within the rest of S1. This is a solid 8/10.

Gonna lower Out of Darkness to a 3/10. Honestly it’s less fun than even Fighter Flight and feels like a boring level of a video game.
