A bit disappointed it was less than 30 minutes... It was fun but the premise made it feel like a live action Rebels episode... The whole thing was him basically dicking around with Jawas. I don't mind because it's still cool seeing anything Star Wars but now there's only 6 episodes left and we still haven't seen Cara or Gideon and I hope their stuff isn't rushed
Well anyways fuck Jawas lmao. These guys are irritating af just going around and stealing people's shit... And the fight with the horn creature thing was surely a callback to Jango vs the Reek. Also I love seeing him use the flamethrower I thought it was destroyed in the first episode. Very interesting they're doing stuff with the Force in this show. Ima throw out a guess and say maybe he won't end up giving the baby to the Empire. Obviously they're gonna be doing some experiments with it which perhaps might remind him of stuff the separatists did during the Clone war and so he'll think it's the wrong thing to do

Episode 2 was definitely a bit slower pace but still it’s just really enjoyable watching live action Star Wars. I’d rather 30 mins be used dicking around with Jawas and exploring planets over a casino scene on Canto Bight or something...
I also really like the heavy western vibe this show has and I like the way the protagonist acts, he just didn’t even give a fuck about disintegrating a bunch of Jawas lol. I also loved the part where he gets to the top of the crawler after all that effort and they all blast him.
Also the horned creature was a Reek right? Kind of ironic given the last Mandalorian we saw fight one.

Also I’m fine with variation in episode time... if this was 30 mins, chances are a later episode could be 50. They are just cutting them at convienent times I guess.
The entire season probably takes place over the span of like 2 weeks.

I’m gonna guess that he returns next episode, hands the child over, takes the money but later returns for the child.
Or the child gets stolen by another hunter and he just steals the child and reward back.

Ah I read a reviewer make an Indiana Jones comparison... I honestly thought the same thing with the moving sandcrawler and when he gets to the top.

And I guess there’s titles for episodes during the title card.... but we don’t get to see them in advance and episode 1 doesn’t seem to have one. Or maybe that one is just “The Mandalorian”

Also the horned creature was a Reek right? Kind of ironic given the last Mandalorian we saw fight one. It’s called a Mudhorn I think. The Reek Jango fought had three horns

Even though we seen 3 planets, none with names yet... does anyone think the desert planet might actually be Tatooine? I saw a discussion of it on reddit.
Seems plausible tbh, if not it’s highly similar. Just a different part of Tatooine then we’re used too I guess with no vast sand dunes. The Mandalorian title poster has two suns as well.

Only thing against it is that one place where he fights the creature seems to be a lot of mud, which would suggest rain. Something I imagine Tatooine gets like nothing.

But then again they also aren’t using Dewbacks which are the signature Tatooine riding creature.
It’s just the Jawas and Sandcrawler that really sell it as Tatooine imo... Jakku is a desert but we don’t see those there.

So I guess this show is aight so far... the dialogue is kinda bad tho... like I could write this stuff no joke. Like Kenbo said I'm still fairly happy since it's star wars but still.

This was kind of bad. For a second episode this felt really slow and pointless and the runtimes make no sense. This is not a good start.

Jakku is a desert but we don’t see those there. Planet is apparently called Alavar-7. Those Jawas are "Offworld Jawas" hence the different color robes and eyes. Idk why they invented yet another desert planet instead of using an existing one... I could've sworn I read somewhere Tatooine would be a main location for the show... Guess not So I guess this show is aight so far... the dialogue is kinda bad tho... like I could write this stuff no joke. Like Kenbo said I'm still fairly happy since it's star wars but still. I'm surprised you think this. Normally I'm the first to cringe at bad dialogue a lot of things have these days. I felt like this is alright for the most part. Plus there's very little dialogue in the first place as Mando barely talks and a lot of other characters don't speak English lol. Better than sequel trilogy dialogue that's for sure...

Apparently there's a lot or inspiration from Sergio Leone's Dollars Trilogy. I haven't seen those movies but now I want to lol However I do sort of agree. With only 8 episodes which are not even 45 minutes long, I am not sure if they can afford to fuck around like they did in this episode.

So normally I hate babies... And I can't stand when franchises shoehorn cutesy stuff into their content solely for merch or viewership or whatever But bruh this dude... I just can't

I just see it as a story within the Star Wars universe, not everything needs to be an epic battle or a fight between Sith and Jedi.
It’s pretty entertaining imo

I laughed out loud when he tried to blast that Jawa with his flamethrower

I'm constantly in awe of the show's production values, or the fact that the Mandalorian works as a character without ever showing his face.

I just don't think 8 episodes of 30ish minutes is enough to properly set-up new show like this and its story. Especially when the second episode already feels like filler.

Quite honestly this is probably a marketing issue. "Quick, let's throw something cool together for the millions of star wars fans so will buy Disney+ on launch when there's still a bunch of media buzz around the whole project." Bottom line is that they will probably be open do doing more of this kinda stuff but they were racing against a deadline to get this out on time.

I enjoyed this episode. Definitely not as much going on, but I appreciate the world-building and character development. It showed that our main guy isn't invincible, as seen with his struggles against the Jawas and the Mudhorn. As long as Chapter 3 picks up the pace and introduces more characters, I think it'll be fine.

Agree with most of what is said here. Perfectly enjoyable and great production values, but I can't help but question the wisdom of spending an entire episode on this considering the episode count. I can't help but compare the story to something like GTA, where there's a side mission that is fun to play but really doesn't add much to the story.

I rewatched some of this when little cousins were over, we watched episode 1 as well, but I think Baby Yoda almost tried to heal Mando as early as this episode when he kept walking out of his crib when Mando was repairing his armor.
