A Necessary Bond is certainly a good finisher. It doesn't retroactively make the whole arc great or anything but it's good.
Florrum makes for some pretty fun battle scenes, as does the whole novelty of having pirates and droids fight. Slave I being there is cool. Grievous being there is cool. It's a lot of fun things thrown in that make the episode an enjoyable one.
It caps off an arc that unfortunately still feels pretty inconsequential, which no four-part arc should be. More than any arc of this length, this one fails to justify its own existence. The Younglings do not even feel all that important by the end. That's largely because all of their character development came in the first episode. That episode by design was there to have them face their individual challenges and thus they were static characters for the rest of the arc.
Still though, this is a very fun episodes with some great sequences and a lot of fun: 7.5/10.
But overall, the arc itself falls a bit flat. Good things in there but very disjointed and overlong.

Petro and Katooni had partial attempts at more development throughout the arc, but it fell flat. I think of when Petro would momentarily become less arrogant and show he was a good leader among the younglings, or the moments that tried to kindle a bond between Hondo and Katooni. But in the end, their development largely ended due to the entrance of other more interesting characters throughout the storyline.

Said I’d finish the rewatch... won’t do it in order of where I left I don’t think. Unlike Rebels I’ve seen clone wars enough in the past that it doesn’t need to be in order.
Anyways... The Gathering, for some reason I had the urge to restart here. And well there’s just not much to say, was this a story that really needed to be told? This episode in particular has very little relation to basicslly any plot line. Yodas appearance obviously makes sense but Ahsoka doesn’t really need to be here at all, in fact it really makes no sense for her to be here.
Apart from the episode itself this arc is just so odd when it was released, for starters it wasn’t in any season 5 promotional material, it was just a hidden arc brought out of nowhere tbh. It’s also right in the middle of a 12 episode stand of meh arcs. Now I can appreciate expanding the lore and showing us Ilum, also creating a Wookiee Jedi but still I feel like these kinds of episodes just didn’t fit the show as much when we started getting stuff like Maul, Umbara, Citadel, etc. There’s a similar episode in Rebels where Ezra and Kanan go on a journey for Ezra to build a saber but that makes more sense and has more place since it’s using the main characters.
I don’t know this is a hard one to rate, while I do kind of enjoy some of this episode the fact remains it’s not really needed and came at an odd time. I’m gonna reluctantly give it a 6/10 still though since it’s miles better than say the season 4 droid arc.

Say what you want about Rebels Hondo but for me all that did was fuck with his appearance... A Test of Strength was the complete demise of his character and yet somehow at the end there’s no consequences for his actions even if he later helps them escape...
Hondo always talked about having his own sense of honor, his own little code but this episode just throws it out the window. Now if he gave his pirates explicit instructions to not harm the kids I think I would see it in a different manner but Hondo didn’t care if they died or not. There’s not much else too this episode though, could have easily been a two part arc but it wasn’t. Also Hondo was overused in season 5.
Only things that are really good are the parts where they first start building the sabers and expanding the lore in that regard.
I’m saying 5/10.

Bound for Rescue... yet another point this arc could have been cut off at. The battle with Kenobi vs Grievous is the best part but also just comes completely out of left field and once again changes the whole tone of the arc. Meanwhile we go from kids gathering crystals for their rite of passage to a circus act in Hindi’s base, like wtf. While I do sort of find most of this episode enjoyable it’s hard to imagine what the producers were thinking/ what drugs they were doing when they came up with this.
I’m gonna say 7/10, it’s probably the best of the arc and maybe the best of the first half of S5 minus Revival which is more of a negative on season 5 than a positive for this episode.

A Necessary Bond is decent, but again Hondo is just a completely different character from 2 episodes ago and then he makes several moral changes in a span of 10 minutes.
Essentially what I get out of this arc is that it’s just a dumpster for washed up ideas they may have had for awhile. Jedi gathering crystals, lightsaber construction, Dooku seeking retaliation from season 1, Slave 1, Kenobi vs Grievous since they haven’t been seen together since like what Arc troopers? Not to mention Ahsoka getting overloaded screen time in season 5 cause of the finale.
Anyways it’s decent like I said so I’m gonna say 7/10.
Total arc score is 25/40 or 62.5%... can’t wait to watch that great droid arc

I don’t think this arc is objectively bad. But it took up way too much time in a season that spent an embarrassing amount of time on merely “okay” episodes.
If this was the only one, then I could forgive it better but it’s surrounded by two 4-part arcs that both only have one episode I’d care to rewatch.
