Hey Grievous is back. That should be fun. Oh and look, an episode I haven't watched since 2010. Okay. Neat.

It's strange to think this is the first time we see Grievous again after an entire season essentially.

This is probably the best episode for Grievous, this or perhaps Massacre.

Grievous Intrigue continues Season 2’s winning streak. Honestly, this is probably the best episode set pretty much entirely in space, at least from an action standpoint. Grievous is much scarier here, and his long break from the show lends for a very welcome return for this once tired character. The whole episode is really entertaining. There’s really nothing to complain except for the increasing frustration of Anakin and Grievous’ near misses. Screw ROTS. Let them at it. Also, Tera Sinube can be seen near Ahsoka at the beginning, making it a bit strange that she doesn’t know who he is. And Sora Bulq can be seen then too. Anyway kickass episode. 8/10.

The Deserter is very different from the previous episode, where Rex really wasn’t even a key player. The strange thing is, the continuation of the last episode gets kind of lost in this one with Grievous’ escape just kinda feeling like a distraction from what we care about. Cut Lawquane is a really interesting character, and probably the most unique clone we see on the show. I definitely would have liked him to show up again at some point. The whole set up is really cool and it’s a really different kind of conflict for Rex, someone who had seemed pretty two dimensional up to this point. The battle at the end is really tense. It makes it seem like Cut will die but I’m glad they don’t go with that. Another thing, but it seems strange Cut would recognize Commando Droids after only fighting in the First Battle of Geonosis. I really like this episode. 8/10

Lightsaber Lost is what feels like Ahsoka’s first real solo episode. I don’t think it’s anyone’s favorite, but it’s not that bad either. I know the title makes the conflict seem kinda silly and unimportant but I guess you can’t have that shit floating around in the Underworld. I also like how it shows there’s still plenty for her to learn, and sometimes there’s a better way to approach things than just mimic Anakin. I think this episode makes her a little less impulsive and more thoughtful than Anakin. And I think it’s noticable in future episodes how she thinks things through better. Going through the series again, this really does feel like an important episode for Ahsoka. And that’s kinda the best thing about it honestly. But I do like Tera Sinube and the scene where Ahsoka is flinging that guy around with the force is pretty fun. The villains are kinda cringe tho tbh. I’m not really sure what their goal is and it doesn’t seem like they needed a lightsaber to do any of this. It’s kinda eh for Season 2 but like I think it’s visually really good and better than a lot of Season 1. 6/10.

I really enjoy the Saleucami arc. Seeing Grievous as a formidable opponent as well as some explanation for why he's even involved in the war is nice. Also, seeing Obi-Wan and Grievous together is always great. There's nothing major to complain about with either episode, although I don't get why those younglings were in the main communication room with other Jedi when the transmission from Grievous arrived.
Cut is a really interesting character, and this is probably the first episode to really develop Rex. Even the small interaction between Rex and his group was nice characterization for the clones. I didn't mind the backdrop of Kenobi hunting Grievous as Rex underwent his own adventure. If anything, it only made the episode better for me, since zero follow-up on Grievous would have been disappointing.
Both episodes are solid and don't really seem to get the attention they deserve. I'd rate them both 8.5/10.

After rating these two episodes though, part of me is thinking I might've started a little too generous with my ratings. Even though I've only awarded two 9/10s, I've done a lot of 8/10s and 8.5/10s, so it might get tricky with most of the best arcs still to come. I may have to go back and readjust some of them to make it more accurate.

Lightsaber Lost is a decent episode. I like Tera Sinube and his lessons he teaches Ahsoka, which seem to really help her develop. He also seems like a more classical Jedi, rather than the mostly militaristic ones the series highlights. Although the plot is a bit slow in the beginning and Sinube undercuts some of the tension, it remains a fine episode.
The best aspect of this episode, other than adding to Ahsoka's character, is definitely seeing the Underworld. This is one of the few episodes that really gives an in-depth look, which is sweet. I liked the giant billboard of Palpatine talking about the Jedi not using the war to gain more power. It felt like something out of 1984.
I'd rate this episode 6/10.

Watching Grievous Intrigue now revealed my opinion of it hasn't changed: it's still boss. The new ships introduced are cool, more Jedi are around and Grievous is actually made a threat, though as a character he's still super undercooked and it's such a shame we never ever got an episode that properly fleshed him out, or at least explain why he's so evil for the sake of being evil (I know there's EU media that tells exactly why, but you'd think the show would actually use some of it). This episode kinda feels like a season premiere in the way its presented. Everything just feels a bit more polished than usual, from the battles (okay, Koth got his ass handed to him a bit too easily methinks), to the score, to the cinematography. Just an excellent entry.
Deserter's pretty good, but a bit weaker. As nice as it is to finally see the clones more... developed in how they talk to each other I still don't really quite connect with them fully. Probably thanks to the time constraints. Shame, because Spider's right: Cut's the type of character that really should be looked into a bit more. It's why I wish they sort of made a spiritual sequel to this that had Darmen and Omega Squad from those Republic Commando novels starring. Y'know, sort of reveal another part of that thread. Still, what we got was good. I even found the battle droids more fun than usual here.

Grievous Intrigue - pretty good although I'm not sure why they didn't just use Agen Kolar and Stass Alie... And it's a little odd Stass' lookalike is also on Salucami but ok
The Deserter - Also pretty good I thought the Grievous background stuff was pretty engaging. Kenobi is really desperate to get him. Kinda similar to how desperate Anakin was in season 1... They actually had a lot of episodes about hunting Grievous lol but I guess we won't be seeing him again for a while

The plot of Lightsaber Lost is really dumb... And what was the deal with those two chicks did they kill Ione's boyfriend? Why did they want a lightsaber? Very weird... I suspect they just wanted to show off Coruscant but they could've come up with a little better story to do so. But it was good seeing the underworld I think it was the first time we got a good look. They came a long way from the underworld scene in TCW movie

The main positive of the peculiar plot was further development for Ahsoka.

Grievous Intrigue is a great episode and probably top 3 of season 2. They actually make Grievous a super competent villain in this episode, unfortunately he’s still surrounded by droids who are a lot less effective. But it’s easy to get a sense of how many Jedi he probably kills off screen, Lair of Grievous supports that as well.
Also it’s kind of funny how it’s less than a year after AOTC and Kenobi and Anakin have become so much more powerful. Although I guess they are fighting a lot more now days. But given how strong Luke becomes in a short amount of time, I guess it’s not unreasonable.
Anyways this episode gets a very solid 9/10.
I do always wonder what makes some of these planets important though... Mygeto, Felucia and Saleucami were all major battlefields throughout the Clone Wars. Mygeeto makes sense because it’s a mining world that helps finance the Munns of Munnilist but the other ones seem kind of irrelevant.

The Deserter is interesting because it introduces some of the main members of Torrent Company that we later see at Umbara and beyond. Honestly this would have been a great episode IMO to use Fives and Echo since both of them should be normal soldiers in Torrent Company after Rookiees.
I really liked seeing Saleucami and it’s nice they used both day and night, I feel like that’s a dynamic we don’t often see unless it’s separate episodes. I also liked the cameo of the Reek and Grievous arm grapple hook that we see in episode 3. It’s also funny that this was basically still when Commando Droids were effective, later in the show they become kind of a joke.
Overall I’m going to give this episode a 8/10, it’s a shame not much comes of it cause Grievous obviously can’t be captured but still it was an enjoyable episode. These clone centric episodes are normally quite nice especially when there’s usually only 2-4 a season so they don’t become dull.
I also really like the terrain of Saleucami in general. Seems like a nice planet.

Lightsaber Lost is dull but seeing the underworld was interesting, so many aliens as well, although many were reused models from previous episodes. In fact I think they completely ran out of budget at the end because out of 4 kids they reused the same species twice... and usually Yoda would teach more then 4 kids as well.
Not much to say about this episode, cool underworld stuff, I’m sure you could find tons of cameos and Easter eggs in there. But overall not much point either, I’m going to say 4/10

Hmm trying to figure out what episodes I got left to catch up on. Pretty sure I have to watch everything from week 2 and 3 still since I was on vacation those weeks. I also missed the 2 worms episodes and I missed both the Virus episodes. And I think I skipped one of the season 3 Mandalore episodes (the one with the kids and Ahsoka).

Ah the season 2 Mandalore episodes I didn’t finish either, I’m going to try and get caught up over the break. Maybe I rated a few season 1 episodes a bit too high but I like to rate based on story, enjoyment and what it adds to the lore. So with all that taken into account I guess it’s justified. Can you change Lair of Grievous to a 9? I noticed it’s the only one I gave a .5 rating and I think I’m just gonna stikc to whole numbers, but that is a very good list, thanks for keeping it :]

Kinda random but wouldn't it have been good to have Rex go back to Saleucami after the war ends? I could just picture in the aftermath of Order 66, him being welcomed back there and getting a happy ending.

Decided to rewatch Grievous Intrigue. I'm gonna bump that up to a 9/10. This is the best episode for him at least in regards for the actual Clone Wars. Honestly, it's just a fun story and paced very well. It's not even necessary you watch The Deserter, since this one kind of stands on its own. Definitely one of my favorite installments of S2.

Maybe those actually are Cut's kids but they inherited his growth acceleration.
