The good thing this show did with Jar Jar was made him achieve some kind of competence. Yes he's still a fuck up but he has actual ideas and sometimes they work. And here at least they characters acknowledge he's retarded. Anyway this episode is considered the worst but honestly, it's not really as bad as I remember. It's predictable and forgettable but okay enough. And strangely, this episode is the most ruthless and intimidating we ever see Gunray at in the entire saga. There's not a whole lot to complain about as its just a silly episode and wasn't trying to be much more. 5/10

Okay first off Ahsoka is fucking dead. She jumped on a grenade right before it went off. Sorry, she's dead. Anyway, this is a pretty good episode, one of the best so far on the rewatch. This is already the third time we've seen a traitor plot (Slick, R3, Argyus) but honestly, I think it's pretty well played here and the least expected of the three. And honestly, the plan in this episode is pretty smart. It's a little strange that this episode picks up right after the last one but I mean that's okay. And Gunray is a lot less intimidating here but it makes sense considering the circumstances. I wish we had seen a bit more of Commander Gree as he's pretty cool. And the fight with him and Argyus is pretty badass. I'm still not sure why it was Ahsoka with Luminara and not Barriss but ah well who cares. A pretty cool episode. 7/10

Like Kenbo said, Lair of Grievous is pretty dark. I remember when I first saw it, I thought it was pretty dang creepy. Just to make the arc even more disjointed, the Gunray plot is dropped about five minutes in. I like how this does continue the theme of Separatist leaders being held to task by Dooku. It makes sense considering everything that happens in the first half of season one. And it's good to see both Ventress and Grievous get a win in before they both go on hiatuses. (Seriously, neither of them even cameoed in all of 2009) Like others have said, Vebb is a but annoying. But since he got through the magnaguards so easy, I'm a bit surprised he didn't do better against Grievous. Fisto is a good protagonist. Phil LaMarr portrays him pretty well. He doesn't really look like he did in the movies but that's okay since he looks kinda creepy there. It's a good episode with a surprisingly dark tone for this early in the series. 7/10

Cloak of Darkness is decent but Luminara has to be one of the most boring Jedi in existence and does Ventress have to make retard noises every time she attacks lol... also I feel like the trick she did sliding down the elevator shaft with her lightsabers shouldn’t work. Otherwise Anakin and Kenobi could have done that in ROTS or something.
But Sidious is right that the capture of Viceroy Gunray is a great threat to them... and he doesn’t seem to have much use. Would be better just to kill him and let all the knowledge of his dealings with Sidious die with Gunray, seriously it seems quite uncharacteristic of Sidious to keep someone like that around. He didn’t want Maul or Talzin around for similar reasons so...
Anyways Cloak of Darkness is a 7/10.
And yeah trying to catch up on some I missed last week and eventually the ones I missed during my vacation as well

Killing him could have been an issue, since Sidious needed a figurehead like Gunray to stick around for his ongoing plans. Having Ventress scream nearly every time she attacks is a little annoying, but I guess it goes with the whole Dathomir vibe.

I think the idea was there from the beginning. Everything seemed to fit too well for it to be a last minute decision.
