Well they had done a lot of western themed episodes guess it was time for a samurai one lol. I thought it was pretty good, way better than Filoni's last one. Rosario did a great job as Ahsoka. I did feel like the lightsaber choreography was a bit awkward but I think dual sabers is probably hard to do.
One thing I found strange is that Beskar is lightsaber resistant? Was this always the case in legends? Mando is pretty much invincible then lol. This dude really got max level armor after like his first mission... One thing I'm hoping they do is armor degradation like in video games because otherwise this is way too convenient
So Grogu.... Lmao. It's like the new Sheev. Whatever I guess. But for real he was at the temple originally and received some kind of training? I find that hard to believe, he seems pretty incapable of doing anything. I figured Ahsoka would refuse to train him but I didn't think it would be because of his attachment. Tbh I thought she'd be like Luke and Qui-Gon and look past the attachment rule but I can see why Vader may have convinced her it was right. But still it felt like weak reasoning to not take him. At least say you're busy or something...

But her sending him to Tython was surprising. Are we actually going to see Luke.... Like I really wonder what they will do now if Ahsoka's not an option. Will he make it to Tython then Gideon comes or Gideon comes before. I feel like next episode will not be Tython and some filler. Praying it's with Boba at least...
Oh also let's not forget THRAWN. Lol. This was a big surprise. I think this basically confirms a Rebels sequel. I don't think they will do the Ezra search in this show.
Some deep lore stuff in this episode I think. Tython as well as HK-87.

Apparently Morai was in it. I wish we got to see that dojo looking set from the credits concept art. I was really hoping to get a look inside the palace
The Beskar spear is interesting. I think it may mean we will see a duel with Gideon and Mando rather than with Ahsoka... But is that it for Ahsoka? I'm thinking Mando will take Grogu to Tython and Gideon will be the one to show up. Grogu is captured and Mando returns to Corvus to ask Ahsoka for help to retrieve him. But then again would Ahsoka still be on Corvus if she got what she wanted with the magistrate?
Three episodes doesn't seem like enough to show everything. If the finale is two parts like last season, I'm guessing it will be a showdown with Gideon and some of Mando's allies. Don't really see a place for Cara or Greef which is too bad if they are only in one episode.
But what the fuck about Boba?? Could he really be in the next episode? If next episode is filler with Boba, that would require Tython stuff to go down in the finale.
OR they don't even reach Tython until the last moments of the finale and everything before is fighting Gideon. Only once Gideon is defeated does Mando go to the temple. And then Luke is the cliffhanger... Man I can't wait to see where this goes I hope it's good

That spear was such obvious set up for a Gideon duel the term "Chekhov's gun" should be now called Mando's spear Seriously though this was far better than I expected from Dave. Kinda feels like it's leaning so hard into being a samurai film homage that it forgets to be its own thing Still the sets and lighting were astonishing. Guess Grogu will do as a name, since it sounds pretty Yoda-ey I can't tell if the Thrawn mention is foreshadowing for the show, a new one, or hell a new film, but it's got my attention. Also really appreciate Typhon being apart of this finally. The EU made it one hell of a cool place, so I hope they treat it right. Maybe I'm off my hinges, but I dare say this show might finally be going into some interesting places, or I could be wrong entirely and this season's just been teasing new shows instead

Ok that was a lot to take in, but I liked it all in the end. It was jarring to see Ahsoka in live action, and the fact she didn't match up with her Rebels design took me out of it initially. I'm willing to chalk that difference up to "animation styles" though. I mean honestly, she looks like an older Ahsoka (versus Bo-Katan, who didn't really look aged), and Dawson did a fantastic job with the acting.
The samurai theme was amazing, even if overdone a few times. I appreciate the magistrate not being another existing character too. I figured Thrawn had a role to play in the post-ROTJ story (whether that's in this show or something else), but I'm a little surprised they mentioned him by name here. I would've preferred the uncertainty to linger, that way some could argue Ahsoka was referring to Palpatine, Snoke, or even Gideon.
A lot is being set-up, and it makes me curious as to what will be covered by the end of the series and/or left for other projects. Hopefully the final 3 episodes make the most of their runtimes.

I think we will see Luke recast in season 3... or maybe even Hamill himself. They used the aging technology on Samuel L Jackson in Captain Marvel quite well to make him look young. They could use that on Hamill I suppose. Honestly it seems like this show has an incredibly high budget now compared to season 1, like in season 1 we saw Navarro A LOT and in this season we are seeing multiple different planets an episode on average and a lot of CGI. This show does have super high popularity though.
Ofc there’s always the theory Mace might be alive and they bring him back lol... but most likely Luke. If Baby Yoda has a connection to Snoke then it makes sense Luke is involved cause he seemed to know a bit of Snoke

I’d imagine Ahsoka is still looking for Ezra tbh
