I watched it again and I mean yeah it's a pretty solid duel. I can appreciate them trying something different with the mocap. I think it feels more realistic that way too.
I am biased towards all duels with Anakin in them lol. His fight against the Count in the movie is one of my favorites ngl kind of underrated imo

Maul is delusional for thinking he and Ahsoka can take down Sidious though.

Maul is delusional for thinking he and Ahsoka can take down Sidious though. Maybe it was more along the lines of subterfuge? Either way, I agree, he was just kidding himself

I really liked this scene specifically. The way Maul panics once they capture him and how he warns them all about what is to come is just so... eerie. He knows that if he is delivered to the Republic he will fall into the hands of Palpatine once more... And he also probably knows about Order 66, so he knows that the Mandalorians and Ahsoka are in danger.
I know Maul is motivated by his own selfish goals. But honestly, he is the unexpected hero in this arc.

I just hate how Rebels spoiled everything... We already know Rex, Ahsoka, Maul and Katan are all getting out alive...

Yeah these episodes are insanely tense and nerve-wracking. If we'd gone into them not knowing Rex and Ahsoka's (and Maul's) fates I don't know what I'd be doing.

Good to see Star Wars finally has a more complex villain. Palpatine, Dooku, Vader, and Kylo Ren have all pulled that "join me" trick on a bunch of characters, but you always see how stupid it would be to actually join them. They are clearly lying in all those cases. But Maul is completely honest and has a noble goal in mind. As a viewer, knowing that will happen in ROTS, you can see that joining the bad guy may actually be the right course of action here... and that's a first.
This just once again shows that TCW is the best Star Wars. It creates a large complex world around the Prequel Trilogy. It shows the influence of George Lucas, someone who knows how to do Star Wars, despite his sometimes poor execution. He cared about the story, TCW feels like a passion-project and not solely a money-grab (though obviously, money played a role as well). I think that we will never see any Star Wars content rivaling TCW ever again after the 4th of May. We will be left with poorly written childish TV shows like the Mandalorian and that rumored Rebels sequel and terrible movies that ruin the SW universe even further. Ironically Star Wars day will mark the death of Star Wars.

I still feel like Maul would have died in this arc had the show not been interrupted... at least I think he should have.
Some people want a Maul vs Vader fight in the final episode now lol

I still feel like Maul would have died in this arc had the show not been interrupted... at least I think he should have. Yeah I think so too. I'm pretty sure he doesn't really care about revenge on Kenobi that much anymore. He's more interested in his underworld business and seizing power. And Obi-Wan similarly also doesn't care about killing Maul as you can see how disinterested he is at the beginning. While the end in Rebels was pretty good, it doesn't really make sense for Maul to still be after Obi-Wan in Rebels over 15 years later But idk I think personally I would find it weird if he died to anyone other than Obi-Wan even if it sort of makes sense for them to never have fought again

I think Maul after ROTS was somewhat fixed on trying to kill Sidious though.... hence why he was on Malachor.
