Antilles Extraction
Wedge Antilles is like 15 here and then a 30-40 year old man in the movies which are only in a few years. Fuck outta here Dave. Boring episode, Wedge's age makes no sense. I don't really like Sabine. Also this bitch has been a Mandalorian, a bounty hunter, an imperial cadet, and part of the ghost crew (assuming she's done all those things for at least a couple years) while she's only like 17-20? Ok
Hera's Heroes
Okay for Rebels standards I guess. Though I think Ezra and Hera were being way too obvious while sneaking around. So I guess Kanan isn't blind anymore? Lol. I think they should've showed him struggling with it for a few more episodes and then at the end have Bendu talk to him. But instead Bendu talks to him about using the force to see in like the first episode and Kanan no longer has any issues. Also Thrawn feels like the only non retard imperial on the show but idk if that will hold up if he keeps allowing them to get away every time
The Last Battle
Everything about this is just dumb as shit. It didn't feel good or nostalgic seeing all the clone wars stuff. It just felt bad seeing Rex so washed and remembering TCW was cancelled and this is the garbage they made afterwards. Yay Ezra ended the Clone War!!! What a hero!! And then the TCW style Rebels logo at the end... Actually fuck off Dave.

I actually like the Antilles Extraction and I thought this was a pretty good episode for Sabine. Also despite all her crazy hair colors, black is probably the best...
Wedge is a good character from the OT to make regular appearances tbh, he’s not a main character but he’s a recognizable one from the movies. I also kind of like seeing imperial training programs and stuff, episodes where we get a focus on the empire are intriguing to me.
I’m going to say 7/10, there’s nothing I really hate about this. And Wedges age makes sense imo, him and Biggs were good buddies with Luke growing up. He should only be a couple years older than Luke at most

Hera’s Heroes is enjoyable, the opening sequence is kind of unnecessary but the rest was all good. Thrawn is the big highlight here though, he’s such an awesome character that I’m glad we got to see on screen. Honestly him alone is why I’m interested in this supposed Rebels sequel post ROTJ...
I honestly quite like Hera episodes post season 1, she’s a decent character with an intriguing back story is the best way I’d put it. As for Kanan honestly he seems normal, you can tell he’s blind, vision wise, by the way he’s looking around oddly at times. But blind Jedi are basically just similar to Daredevil where they use the force and other senses to basically be able to see anyways. Also that Kanan move where he force pushed the Rocket was the most video game thing ever lol
I’ll say 8/10, good episode all around.

From a personal standpoint I think The Last Battle is wonderful, seeing droids and all the clone wars imagery was great here, also I loved the shots of the destroyed droids, Rebels surprising explosive and damage visuals are pretty good looking on the droids. The Kalani model was on point as well. I do very much like the concept of these holdout separatists on backwater worlds, I wonder if there’s a bunch of clones somewhere who still think the war is going on.... I know both the Tarkin and Thrawn novels go into more detail about separatists vs the empire.
Did this episode need to be made? No it’s a lot of fan service but to me, especially at the time of release, it was pretty good fan service. It’s also a great episode for Rex and I feel like that’s a lot of the reason why this episode exists is to give people who are unfamiliar with TCW some perspective on what the war was about and the character of Rex himself.
Anyways I’ll say 8/10, kind of want to go higher but this episode does have some bad spots like the whole Ezra ending the war thing was weird... plus the Empire didn’t really need to be in this episode at all tbh.

Well next week is probably the worst in the show... Funny how it aligns with the return of TCW. At least that'll be something to look forward to this Friday.

I've meant to catch up on the rewatch, but I've been really busy recently... Not sure how soon I'll be able to get up to date with Rebels, but I definitely plan to watch TCW when it airs.

I found The Antilles Extraction to be better than I remembered. Although I didn't think Breaking Ranks from S1 was a bad episode, I think this one better handles the concept of going undercover in an Imperial program. Sabine works pretty well on her own here, and the connection with Wedge doesn't feel overdone in terms of including legacy characters.
Part of what makes this episode better is that we actually see the Ghost crew struggle to succeed with this mission. Rake dies, and Governor Pryce felt intimidating. I liked the callback to The Honorable Ones with Kallus saying he's now even with Zeb.
On another note, the smoking TIE at the end looked really good against the dark orange sky. I'll go with 7/10.

I really enjoy the dynamic between Thrawn and Hera in Hera's Heroes. Their scene in the office is the standout moment. Thrawn's speech about fully understanding your enemies is one of his more memorable scenes for me. This one also adds more to Hera's backstory, which helps make her one of the more interesting characters in the series by this point.
The beginning of the episode felt very pointless, and Ezra/ Hera undercover didn't feel subtle. Besides those two aspects, I thought the rest worked. 8/10.

The Last Battle remains as fun during this rewatch as I thought it was when it originally aired. Obviously, the callbacks to TCW help it a lot, but I give it credit for not butchering those links. Rex is great in this episode, and I love his dynamic with the Super Tactical Droid.
Although the plot isn't terribly complex, I think it serves as a great standalone story. The end with the Empire adds a nice touch without feeling forced or rushed. My main issue is Rex stating Ezra "ended the Clone War", which feels unnecessary.
I'm going with an 8.5/10 for this one.

I guess it just annoys me that every “Rebellion Meeting” is literally just the ghost crew with Sato. And they pretty much talk over him and make all the decisions. I guess I just wish there was more to the Alliance. Some kind of politics, some kind of conflict, or even just someone for us to care about besides the ghost crew. I don’t know, something about the way they pretty much do whatever they want kinda feels unrealistic.
It probably doesn’t help that almost no one in the Rebellion has their eyes animated.

Wish they didn’t call it the Antilles extraction. Would’ve made for a cool surprise.

Did Kallus not recognize Sabine?

That was a pretty good episode. Not amazing but good.
I kind of agree that Wedge looks a little too boyish. He honestly more closely resembles the original Wedge actor who got fired for forgetting his lines. Denis Lawson was only 30 when A New Hope was released, but IMO he looked significantly older. That and his voice seemed off to me. Didn’t sound like him at all.
But besides that it wasn’t too bad. I like that the extraction plan actually failed. It made sense that the Empire would have a safe guard to stop them, and we knew they were suspicious. Also surprised they killed one of them.
I was confused why Kallus couldn’t just point out Sabine but I liked how he let them go in the end.
So yeah I thought it was good and Sabine was pretty likable here. We knew what the episode was gonna do but it did it with some nice twists and turns. 7/10.

Hera’s Heroes was quite good. I really don’t know that much about Thrawn, but I think he’s portrayed pretty well and I like the doesn’t act like pretty much every retarded Imperial we see on this show.
The story was pretty good and it certainly does feel tragic to see Ryloth plundered again after what we saw in TCW.
I thought maybe we were passed lame pointless opening battles but ah well.
I didn’t really think about Kanan but I do agree he’s getting over his blindness too quickly. They could play into that more.
Anyway 8/10.

Im glad they remembered what Super Tacticals and B1s look like.
Was a little nervous after last season’s Tactical.
Not sure why Kalani sounds so human now.

Really liked that. The ending was a little weird with Ezra “ending the Clone Wars.” I don’t know, that felt a little weird to me.
But besides that it was good. Finally a good usage of Captain Rex. I liked seeing all of this Clone Wars imagery again and thought they used it respectfully.
The warehouse fight I thought was pretty cool. Felt well staged. The ending battle vs the Empire I thought was a little nonsensical but still fun.
Was really happy to see that ending logo and hear that old song. They may not have ever paid much tribute to Ahsoka, but at last they are for Rex.
This probably didn’t need to be made, but it was a lot of fun and I’d say a nice tribute to TCW.
8.5/10

I realized I was too harsh on some episodes so I've been giving them higher ratings but that doesn't go for this one... Idk like I can see why people like it but personally I just thought it was too silly. The droids still working doesn't make a lot of sense but ignoring that, the little clone wars reenactment makes even less sense. And seeing grandpa Rex have his Vietnam flashbacks is just depressing... It was just too meta and too fan service-y for me and felt out of place with the rest of the show

Thought about The Last Battle and decided to lower my score. Think I rated it too high just because of all the TCW imagery. Trying to keep a consistent level of scrutiny across both series, and I definitely rated this too high. Think I’ll change it to a 7/10.
