Stealth Strike
Okay I guess. They played with the Rex and Kanan distrust thing way too much though it was pretty cringey. I guess that was the purpose of the whole episode though to get them to trust each other. I also wasn't a fan of all the meta stormtrooper jokes. And once again the Empire is shown as completely incompetent... I did like seeing the interior of the star destroyer. I actually really like the animation style and their ship interiors always look very aesthetically pleasing. Also still no sign of Ahsoka, Wolffe, or Gregor...
Future of the Force
This one was fun. I liked the location it looked like an apartment planet basically lol. Finally Ahsoka does something as well. "Unexpected but not unwelcome" reminded me of a surprise to be sure but a welcome one lol. Dumb and dumber are kind of disappointing though. I expected more from Fifth Brother but I guess he's just a dumb brute like what they turned Savage into. Too bad Second Sister isn't still alive she was probably a little better at her job than these two. Imagine if Rebels had Purge Troopers alongside the Inquisitors that would've been really sick. It does feel sort of strange because in Rebels the Inquisitors seem like a new thing but they've actually been operating for around 15 years and the Inquisitorious is close to being dissolved. Idk. Nice to see a future plot point with them discovering Garel. Yeah tbh this might be one of my more enjoyable episodes.

Legacy
Oh yeah I forgot about the thing with Ezra's parents. And it felt like the writers did too lol. It was like they originally had other plans but decided against expanding on them and just wanted to wrap up the arc as quickly as possible. Ezra is so fucking annoying here which makes this a terrible episode. Like just shut up spaz... Also Wolffe and Gregor where? I also wouldn't have minded a little explanation of where Ahsoka fucks off to every time. Yet Rex always makes it into at least one scene...

Stealth Strike is great imo. I really love the dynamic between Kanan and Rex, we see a lot of relationship building this episode. Rex always wanted to trust Kanan since he was a Jedi but Kanan never wanted to trust Rex for obvious reasons, this episode in 22 minutes gives us a pretty good arc of Kanan gaining a mutual respect for Rex. Rex’s actions and attitude also felt very proper and I think they show his character a lot of respect tbh, I think he slowly starts to fit into the show more as time goes on.
I like that they made a new model for the Admiral this episode and wasn’t totally generic, the interior of the star destroyer looks wonderful and the final scenes visually (explosion wise and stuff) are close to rivaling TCW. I really like that they took the Gravity wells from legends and brought it back into canon,
Anyways I’m going to say 8/10, good enjoyable episode with actual decent humor imo.

I got episode 4 Kenobi vibes when Ezra was sneaking around, and Malevolence vibes when the ship was destroyed.
Chopper was overly silly in stealth strike, he could have killed Ezra

The Future of the Force might be top 3 for season 2. The force/ Jedi plots are always the best in the show (Path of the Jedi in season 1) at least until Thrawn shows up, he has some good imperial plots as well. I like how this episode gave us a good mix of perspective, not always focusing on the good guys but we get to see quite a few scenes focused on Inquisitors as well, a trend that continues into season 3 giving us more perspectives on the imperials.
The planet in this episode was a nice setting and a pretty cool change of pace from the settings we normally see. It’s also nice that it’s a one off location that I’m pretty sure we don’t see again, Rebels often reuses locations a lot. The plot is similar to Children of the Force and I actually really like that aspect, it makes it seem like Sidious actions during TCW actually had more purpose and it’s cool that it kind of reinforces the idea that Sidious wanted inquisitors even before the Jedi were dead.
The fight at the end with Ahsoka was definitely the best part, although she should have been trying to kill the inquisitors, idk she makes a lot of comments in Rebels about “I’m no longer a Jedi” but doesn’t always act like that, maybe she just takes a moral high ground still.
Anyways I’ll say 9/10, nothing really wrong here imo and it advances the main plot of season 2 which for the most part is pretty Jedi vs Sith related.

It’s kind of interesting but you can kind of see Rebels advance at the same pace content was released into the new canon. Rebels started in 2014 before any new movies, thus before Rogue One as well but once R1 came out we see elements of that in Rebels. The first Thrawn book also came out before his appearance in Rebels I think Just kind of thought of this when you mentioned Purge Troopers, cause we don’t see Death Troopers in the show until after the R1 released in the timeline

Legacy is decent but The Future of the Force would have been a better mid season finale. I can see why they choose Legacy though, I almost feel like it marks the turning point from the more childish season 1 to a somewhat more mature season 2.5, 3 and 4. Now that Ezra has put his parents behind him it also puts his past behind him I guess.
I don’t feel like there’s a whole lot to say, I guess it was necessary to wrap up Ezras parents plot line but at the same time it’s not all that interesting, there is some decent character development for Ezra and Kanan in this episode though. And at this point until the end of the show appearances on Lothal can be few and far in between so it no longer becomes annoying to see it imo.
Anyways I’ll say 7/10, nothing terrible but nothing amazing either.

I just want to say but I actually love the design of The Ghost and Phantom tbh, it’s such a nice combo and definitely one of the best aspects of the show imo. The Ghost is a nice mix of Falcon and Ebon Hawk. Idk it’s something that doesn’t get the praise it deserves imo, definitely better than the Twilight.... Also spoiler for season 3 This version of the phantom is a lot better than the repurposed sepratist shuttle they use for Phantom 2.0 imo

Began Stealth Strike. Pretty solid so far. Thought it was cool that they mentioned Cody. It would be awesome if he were an admiral or something now and met Rex later on. Not sure the Empire would allow that though.

i do like the Kanan-Rex dynamic. I was really worried they would just get over their conflict either in Relics of the Old Republic or quickly after so I'm glad they're playing it out.

I really don't like the whole hat-covered officers that all have the same face. It feels really lazy and cartoony. I guess TCW had the advantage here because everyone could look the same and it wasn't out of place.

Not sure the Empire would allow that though. I feel like he’s a trainer, cause the Admiral proposes that idea for Rex later on. Maybe he’s runs a top academy or something on a major system like Anaxes.

Yeah that was a pretty good episode. Don't want to go over the top and call it amazing, just because after one that just pissed me off. But definitely a step in the right direction. I like that they actually continued a conflict from a previous episode. That was good and proper use of long form storytelling.
The beginnings of the episodes are always a little wonky, aren't they? I guess it's because this show uses the pre-title scene. Not bad, but the lead-ins are sometimes a little rushed. It's kind of like if in "The Ciadel" we got a 90-second sequence of Even Piell's ship under attack, him and Tarkin agreeing to memorize the info, and then being captured. An odd case where I'd rather just hear what the conflict is rather than see it play out on fast forward.
Moving along, I thought this episode finally did Rex justice. I liked the callbacks and thought his convo with the Admiral was pretty good(no idea how that man survived at the end). I'll say though that the episode was pretty devoid of tension. I like that Ezra is slowly becoming more confident but that brings more forced stormtrooper incompetence.
Spark of Rebellion, Part 1 actually did a really good job with ramping up the the tension and making the Empire seem frightening. I kinda hoped we would see that carried through Season 2 but it disappeared pretty quickly.
The final scene anyway was really cool. Animated very well and a cool way for them to escape. This was a good episode. 7/10.

Honestly there’s only one episode in the entire show that will probably get a perfect score from me thinking about it... possibly 2. TCW had like 7 or 8

Thought Future of the Force was enjoyable. Liked the change of scenery. I was a little annoyed that it seemed to be taking the characters forever to determine the obvious: that the kids were force sensitive. But luckily they didn’t play it off like a big reveal and Kanan is like “yeah that what this is about”
The inquisitors really don’t live up to the last one, which is a bit frustrating but they work well enough here. I guess it’s tough to make intimidating villains in a Y7 show. Seventh Sister works a lot better than Fifth Brother. Honestly it might be an improvement if they just had her. Fifth Brother is just a the next level of Savage devolution.
The highlight was definitely Ahsoka coming in at the end. I like how she disarmed Seventh Sister. A pretty cool scene. I also like how Ezra can’t match up to them still and they’re resisting the Rey type character.
All in all pretty solid. 8/10.

I hope Ahsoka will feature more in the rest of the season (I know she disappears at the end) because her relationship with everyone feels really underdeveloped.

I'm still not a fan Ahsoka's funhouse mirror design. But I hoped she'd bring some weight to Season 2... oh well.

Stealth Strike is a really fun episode. The intro feels pretty intense and sets up a nice story. Kanan and Rex are what make this episode for me. If this had just been a rescue mission by the Ghost crew, it would've been fine, but pretty average. Instead, we get to see Kanan and Rex really develop their relationship, and I think it works well.
The setting of the Star Destroyer adds to the entertainment, and I appreciate that we're introduced to another admiral via Brom Titus. Something about his voice sounds funny to me, but I like the character overall.
This stands out as one of the stronger episodes to date. 8/10.

I really enjoy The Future of the Force, especially how it feels like a continuation of the plot we saw unfold in Children of the Force from TCW. Surprisingly though, I feel like this one works a little better than that episode. I might credit that solely to pacing though. Unlike most of the openings in Rebels, the one we see here feels more substantial. The Inquistors also seem fairly competent, even if they don't reach the level of the Grand Inquisitor.
The setting for this one adds to the experience, since it is so different from any other location we've seen in Rebels. Like Coruscant, it seems realistic that lots of people live here.
Ahsoka coming in at the end was a solid way to conclude the episode. I'm glad Ezra still can't hold his own against them whereas Ahsoka clearly outclasses the Inquisitors. One of my favorite episodes of the show so far. 8.5/10.

Legacy kind of feels like two episodes merged into one. The first half deals with the aftermath of the Inquisitors learning of the rebels hiding out on Garel. I appreciate this having immediate consequences versus not having any impact until several episodes later. Yet although the Empire drove away the rebels, it didn't feel quite as dire as I think it should have.
Seeing Ezra go through more personal revelations in the second half is nice, even though I don't care a whole bunch about this stuff. It more or less feels like the writers are going through the motions to develop Ezra, but not in the most interesting manner. However, Ryder Azadi is a cool character to introduce that provides some fresh air to the main ensemble.
It's a pretty average episode overall and like Newan said, the show begins to mature more from this point. 7/10.

Legacy is pretty good so far. But couldn’t help noticing Zeb got in the same situation as John Marston at the end of RDR1. And of course he survived lol.

I actually quite liked this episode. It would have been easy for Ezra's parents to be out there and for him to find them eventually. But it wouldn't have been that emotional since we didn't know them. So I thought what they did here was a lot better. I liked how he had to face something he couldn't fix.
Not the most exciting episode. And the way they always barely elude danger is an unending source of annoyance for me. But the end of the episode I thought really worked. Ezra is an annoying shit 80% of the time, but when they let him be human I actually really like him. That's kind of why Epsiodes 9 and 10 of last season are still my favorite. I hope that maybe as we go further, they'll lean into that more. His voice actor is actually quite good when they give him good material.
Really like the ending shot. They could have made it cheesy at the end like they've done before, but they didn't. Not a whole lot to say but this was a good one. 8/10.
