Rankings for season 1:
The Reckoning (9/10) The Sin (9/10) Redemption (8/10) The Mandalorian (8/10) The Prisoner (7/10) Sanctuary (7/10) The Child (6/10) The Gunslinger (5/10)
59/80 or 74%, which seems pretty fair. It's a fun show, but honestly only half these episodes are ones I'd consider rewatching. I like this series much more than the sequels, and it has good production value. It's also set within the Star Wars universe and expands it nicely. However, it didn't do as much with the plot as I would've liked, given they only made 8 episodes. I get it's more focused on characters rather than a huge overarching plot. I appreciate that, but I expected a bit more from the characters we got. Regardless, I'm still looking forward to what S2 has in store.

I thought this was a solid conclusion to S1. A lot happened, but I kind of expected more between Gideon and Mando. Other than his one address to them all near the beginning, we didn't get much of that. Interesting that Gideon has the Darksaber... not sure what to make of it yet. I'm glad IG got more time in this episode, he's a pretty cool character. I really liked the gondola sequence in the lava, and it was nice to see more of Mando's flashback. I can't tell if those Mandalorians are supposed to allude to Death Watch, but it makes more sense that they were to ones to save him, rather than a Jedi or clones. I think that was Death Watch one guy had the same symbol on his shoulder pad

Finally feel well enough to give my thoughts It was okay, but as Pinda pointed out, there's some major holes CinemaSins will be having a field day with. I think the most egregious is not checking Gideon was dead. You'd think guys like these would prefer to confirm kills right? The action's tight and intense, but it REALLY stretches the believability of just four people getting the best of a whole legion. Another weird detail is how the Force and the Jedi aren't even known to them. I mean I know it's a distant part of the galaxy, and even Han seemed very clueless to such ideas, but it seems super ludicrous when one of the people in the dark is also a freaking REBEL. Did the mention of Jedi Luke Skywalker fly over her? And if Din was a kid who was attacked in the Clone Wars and taken in by Deah Watch, then mention of Jedi was just bound to happen. At this point it honestly feels like it's deliberately ignoring TCW for the sake of its own creativity and the worst part is it's not using that to any sort of advantage. On a visual, musical note, the show's excellent. It's nostalgic angle is the sort JJ should've been aiming for with TFA, but alas. However it's writing and story structure is too minimalist and disconnected. As cute as baby Yoda is, he's not good enough to serve as the sole running plot. It needs more. No more sidequests, just give us the main mission. For all its issues, I still like it more than a lot of Disney's other projects, but boy oh boy, does it need to step up a gear next time. On an unrelated note, an astromech with limbs is bizarrely creepy

I don't think checking to see if Gideon is alive is really a hole... I mean if I were in their situation I would assume he was as good as dead and it wouldn't really be worth it to walk for miles all the way over there just to check that. In stuff like this I don't think people really check if someone is actually dead. That just seems like it would be really awkward if the gang walked all the way over to his fighter and was like "yep he's dead" or if he was still alive (which in this situation he is) just shot him and then went "now he's dead". That would really take me out of it tbh lol

Clone Wars season 1 gets a lot of shit but I don't know why. I think it's really fun and if I'm honest, Rebels and Mando (more in terms of writing than violence) felt way more kiddy than TCW S1. TCW made you think even if it was just a little bit and most episodes taught some kind of lesson. For Mando and Rebels you just turn your brain off and consume the product...

I haven’t even got to watch the last 2 episodes yet but TCW doesn’t have the best first season by any stretch of the imagination, it is barley in the conversation due to it just being a collection of stories.... clone wars is a very special and unique show in that sense.

No, the first season is pretty mediocre... but still by far better than the other two.

It's tricky for me to judge live action and animated shows equally, but if I'm basing these first seasons on the scores I gave them, The Mandalorian is the best. Obviously, there are more enjoyable moments in TCW because it had 22 episodes versus 8, but I think there's quite a few low points in TCW S1 that set it back some.
Rebels works well in the sense it's the most cohesive story, but there's a lot of fluctuation in individual quality. Some of the episodes are great, but most are mediocre or poor.

The conclusion wasn’t too bad. I definitely want a more focused story in season 2 though. I want to see Boba Fett come back as well....
The stuff with the biker scouts was kind of silly but I did chuckle a bit. I also got a kick out of “You are now a clan of 2”. Baby Yoda is a foundling lol, although I think Mandalorians have a thing against force users in their ranks....
I noticed the Death Watch logo on the Mandalorians that rescued him, also the planet from the flashbacks is that also Navarro? Not sure. Maybe he’s lived/ operated from there all his life.
Also I don’t care at all that they don’t know about the Jedi... for most the rise and fall of the empire is about as trivial as a government election on a random planet. If you lived in the outer rim all your life the republic and empire would have no significance to you, especially if your an every day citizen. The galaxy is huge, the Jedi and Sith are overall irrelevant, even Tatooine in episode 1 shows this....

Chapter 1: 8/10 Chapter 2: 6/10 Chapter 3: 9/10 Chapter 4: 7/10 Chapter 5: 6/10 Chapter 6: 5/10 Chapter 7: 9/10 Chapter 8: 8/10
Overall: 58/80 or 72%, think that’s the same clone wars got overall lol, and what Rebels is on pace for. Star Wars is Star Wars, it’s all the same really. Gonna get some epic parts and then you get some filler. It’s all enjoyable to me.

Wish they got James Mangold. I have no idea who that is. He directed Logan(basically a gritty Western) and he was supposed to do the Boba Fett movie.

Honestly, not sure what I was expecting from the guy whose main cinematic achievement are some Marvel movies... Well to be fair Iron Man was actually pretty solid. People credit Favreau for single handedly jump starting the MCU which I think is cool. However people keep overhyping him and Filoni and say shit like one or the other should replace Kathleen. They're nothing that special imo. I think if either headed Lucasfilms, Star Wars would become very boring... But at least it wouldn't be worse than it is under KK

It was weird how the emotional crux of this episode was supposed to be IG-11’s death. And Mando was supposed to be really sad about it.
Like I didn’t feel anything. If they wanted to do this and make us care, they should have featured IG-11 in more episodes. It just rang really hollow to me.
