I don't dislike that Ezra is a pretty selfish dude, who presumably grows close to his family as the show goes on and would die for them, but his character just is annoying. If you want to see that arc done well, check out John Silver from Black Sails.

Just started Episode 3. Just wanted to note that I really don't like that it opens with them fighting and escaping the Empire before going onto it's real plot. Really, it just makes fighting the Empire feel like a regular, everyday occurrence that we shouldn't be worried about. Unnecessarily makes the Empire feel super weak and non threatening.
Also Zeb reminds me of Castas.

I actually found Episode 3 to be an noticeable improvement, which surprised me. Even though the opening was eyerolling, I thought the episode was a lot less predictable and honestly more interesting. Zeb is still not my favorite character (none of them are) but I like that they at least try to make him more interesting. I like that he has PTSD.
On another note, I kinda wish they waited longer to bring in OT guest characters. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the episode, but it feels a bit desperate to bring them in this quickly.
I guess, for my sanity's sake, I should stop complaining about the ridiculously awful aim of the Stormtroopers. It pisses me off but I guess it's not going away any time soon.
I thought the ending fight was a lot better than the last one and made more sense. Using the guns as bombs was actually kind of smart and I like that resolution a lot better than them just beating them with sheer luck. I expected this to feel like a filler but it really didn't with the return of Kallas and Ezra getting his big "force push" moment. Pleasantly surprised with this one. 7/10.

Actually really liked that they incorporated the warning message Obi-Wan left in ROTS. That was cool and made sense in the story. Honestly though I didn't care for the rest of the episode. The most annoying thing about this show is how unforgivably lame the stormtroopers are. Zeb stands directly in front of them for about five seconds and doesn't get shot. I know they couldn't really hot anyone in the OT but at least there was usually like smoke in the way or obstructions. These rebels remind me of Thorin's Company from the Hobbit, where they can easily dispatch goblins and never get hurt. But at lrast those goblins weren't trained soldiers and didn't have guns. The pacing was kinda off here. I thought they were gonna have an episode to free Ezra and maybe have a battle on the Star Destroyer. (I kept expecting the Inquisitor to show up) But he's rescued really easily and then they're off to an Imperial facility that they just fly right into with no resistance. I wish they showed the Rebels as being more sneaky with their methods. As if their quick thinking and intelligence was what gave them the edge over the Empire's brute force. But no, they just engage the enemy in a plan that feels like it was formulated by General Krell, except here it works every time. I have to talk about the wookiee animation. I thought they looked terrible. And that kid feels like something from a Disney movie. Way too expressive. They should've kept him closer to Gungi. On paper this sounds like it should be a good story but really I don't find it that engaging. The characters mostly feel like they're from a Dinsey sitcom and have been transmatted into the Star Wars universe. Zeb, though, I'm having a tough type liking. He feels like such a lazy stock character. I know this show gets better, but if I caught this hour long premiere on TV, I would have no desire to keep watching. 5/10 To be fair though TCW kind of did that thing where a character will stand in the way of lasers and not get hit as well. I noticed it with Hardcase when he was talking to Fives before he sacrifices himself. Dude gets like 20 lasers bolts on the wall next to him and doesn’t get hit :/

I will say though that I don’t buy these people as a family. I get that Kanan and Hera like each other but that’s really it. No one seems to care about Sabine. And it was kinda jarring how cold Kanan was towards Zeb regarding the mini WMDs that killed his people.
I don’t know. Maybe I just need to see more.

Fuck 3PO for calling the Empire tho. What the hell was that? Yeah Creepio was somehow really annoying in this one. I know a lot of people always found him to be an annoying character but I didn't mind him in the movies or TCW. But here... idk Anyway I don't think the stormtrooper aim is really a big deal. It's a common trope present in probably any media where characters are using guns lol

It's a common trope present in probably any media where characters are using guns lol I don't know. It just feels a lot more blatant here. Like they're deliberately trying to remove any form of suspense. Zeb will stand like five yards in front of them and every single stormtrooper will miss. It might be because we don't get any cannon fodder on the protagonists' side. Like the battle droids always seemed at least a little scary since they would kill hordes of clones. The stormtrooper kill count on this show is literally zero. And these characters don't feel like they should be able to easily avoid their shots, with the exception of maybe Kanan, but only when he uses his lightsaber to block them. These characters feel like the Avengers going up against the faceless armies, but a least they have an explanation for how they can survive all that (except for Hawkeye) Every fight scene on this show reminds me of the scene in Supernatural after Sam picked up the rabbit's foot.

On a first watch of the show, it's tough to buy the Ghost crew as family throughout the early episodes. As the show progresses and these characters become more established in the canon, it starts to become a little better. TCW had the advantage where we already knew there were established connections between some of the main characters versus having to build them entirely from scratch with new characters.

Fuck 3PO for calling the Empire tho. What the hell was that? Remember that 3PO regularly gets his memory wiped I think whereas R2 never gets his wiped.
