We don't have a thread for this so why not. Here's where you can talk about books, writing, etc.

Okay, I'll kick off discussion by asking which Star Wars books (novels, comics, etc.) they found good, bad, happy, or sad? Personally, I've read a few with Revan, most Vader comics and Dark Disciple as a couple best ones, but some of the Dark Horse and Marvel comics can be pretty darn bad

Colour me surprised I was expecting anyone who answered saying they'd read something not that long ago.

Colour me surprised I was expecting anyone who answered saying they'd read something not that long ago. I've been pretty uninterested in Star Wars in general since 2013. I also read some Boba Fett books and I liked them. (I think the Season 2 Boba Fett arc took some inspiration from those)

Also, when I read the Jude Watson books, they were mostly out of order because I would just get whichever one the library had at the time.

Also, when I read the Jude Watson books, they were mostly out of order because I would just get whichever one the library had at the time. Funny you say that. First Star Wars novel I ever read was some post-ROTJ story that was a middle part to some overlong series. I never bothered reading the series proper, since the book wasn't the greatest Star Wars had to offer and I was happy to just get all the spoilers I needed from Wookiepedia

- Son of Dathomir
- Darth Maul comic
- Darth Plagueis (EU)
- Ahsoka
- Thrawn
I do have some older Dutch EU books because the local library had put them in the "We don't want this anymore" section, so I could take them for free. I also have Lords of the Sith, but I haven't read it (yet).

I decided I would not read any more of the Star Wars books though, unless they deal with TCW. I gave them a try, but Thrawn was REALLY bad in my opinion. Ahsoka was not that good either. Dark Disciple and Son of Dathomir were good, but that's probably because they were based on TCW scripts.

I feel like I have read a lot of Star Wars books though. I guess they were all in like 2008-2010.

Not too long ago I read the Phantom Menace novel, which is the most recent Star Wars novel I've gotten through. To my surprise it wasn't too bad.

My brother can't say enough goods things about Deceived.

There was some New Jedi Order book I tried to read but i couldnt get into it. One of my friends randomly gave me a Star Wars book I think it’s because it was complete shit. (The one with a Hutt Jedi)
It’s still on my shelf though.

I read a few Star Wars books back around 2010, but I don't really remember much about them. After S5 of TCW, I kind of stopped reading them except for one called Scoundrels because it was on sale for like $5.
I've looked up the plots to the Aftermath trilogy, Thrawn, Ahsoka, Dark Disciple, and Son of Dathomir online though, but that doesn't really count.

Has anyone read the mystery “And Then There Were None?” I trashed the books we read in school but I read this one in 7th grade and honestly it might be my favorite book. They went downhill from there though... Fuck Anthem

They went downhill from there though... Potato is Awesome Anthem Haven't read that one, but honestly, even though school has made me not enjoy reading as much, I had some good books assigned. Ones like 1984, It's Kind of a Funny Story, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Hobbit, Hamlet, The Time Machine, etc... those were all pretty good. I just don't like having to read on a "time limit". Of course, there's been some bad ones too, but I try to forget those.

Delivery times for the Way of Kings sequel are 2-3 weeks in the Netherlands... so guess I will read Lords of the Sith while I wait... and never read another Star Wars book after that probably.

Turns out the Way of Kings series (called Stormlight archive) is releasing at one book every 3-4 years currently. So it would take another 21-28 years for it to be completed at this rate... It is strange to think I may be in my 40's (or almost 50) by the time it is done. Though I guess the writer may shift his focus to these books, I think he wrote a lot of other books during the previous years. Also, the first five books are apparently their own story, the last five are like a sequel story. So that helps I guess.

There is also a possibility he will split either Winds or/and Spring in two parts. I heard he was struggling to get everything in done in just two books... so I guess it might be 2040... I know he doesn't like people saying he is going to die before finishing it. But I doubt he will still be writing in his 90's.

I kind of get why he has been delaying his books. It must suck to write on a story you have worked on for decades when everyone will already kind of know how it will end before you finish it. As a writer you want to surprise people with your book... George will soon lose his main surprise.

It's a decent trade-off, but I'm not sure if it's worth it in GRRM's opinion.

I remembered those Galaxy of Fear Star Wars books. Actually had kind of interesting plots. So two kids survived Alderaan and traveled the galaxy with their shapeshifting anthropologist uncle while on the run from the Empire. Frequently they'd meet another shapeshifting scientist that the Emperor tasked with doing biological experiments as part of Project Starscream. And Dr. Evazan, the dude from the cantina, also helped out with that.
Anyone read that series? Probably not as enjoyable now because it's for kids but I just remembered them. Kinda want them to adapt some of those stories in something canon...
